Smash Nation

Hello everyone! HC Mod here with an announcement.  It’s been a while since we’ve posted anything; school, work,and other priorities eat up a lot of our time. But the mods have gotten together, and discussed the order of things. Smash Nation has been a huge learning experience for all of us; for so many people it was our first experience really roleplaying with complete strangers. And it has earned us all valuable friendships that we still treasure, even three years after we began our roleplaying journey. 

 Smash Nation, however, has taken a bit of a hit in terms of maintenance. We’ve decided that the best thing to do for everyone would be to reach a sense of closure. We’re leaving Smash Nation around as an archive to all the fun times we had. 

If you roleplay in Smash Nation, we want to thank you for the wonderful experiences you’ve given us, both as moderators, and fellow roleplayers. We certainly couldn’t have done it without you. This isn’t the end of our roleplaying journey, or even our smash brothers roleplaying journey, and perhaps someday, we’ll meet again under the same light. Thank you all, for your support, kindness, and the memories you’ve made with us!

TW mod here guys~ As much as I'd like to keep Smash Nation running at full speed, none of us are really capable of that. We've reached a point where attempting to recover what was lost here is...far too much for any of us. Despite this...it's not the end at all, as HC Mod said! We may be thanking you all as if this is goodbye, but this is only really a goodbye in the official sense. Smash Nation members can still consider themselves members of Smash Nation. You can use our facilities as much as you'd like, with any of your Smash muses. You'll see many of us again soon...perhaps in a new setting! The experience with Smash Nation has been great, and it certainly won't be my last, and hopefully not anyone else's. Thank you all for the amazing experience.

For someone who has a difficulty interacting with others face-to-face, Smash Nation had provided me, and I’m sure many others, with a wonderful way to communicate with other people who shared similar interests. I am honored to have talked with so many fantastic individuals whom I will never forget, even if life keeps us apart for long stretches of time. I am honored to have been able to roleplay with some truly extraordinary writers, capable of delving into the minds of their muses and making me love characters I barely even thought about beforehand. The ability you all have brought to bring life to your muses is astonishing, and I applaud you all for such a talent. 

 Alas, we no longer have the time or the abilities to revitalize Smash Nation. It has been truly a wonderful experience for me, broadening my own thoughts and views, both on life and for the characters of the Smash Bros franchise. Thank you all for contributing and helping this group last as long as it has.

Smash Nation has been in a lull period, as you have probably noticed; college has been beating down on a lot of the muns, and the Holidays are equally stressful, but with a New Year comes new determination! 

The group is currently experiencing a revival period, and we’re planning on moving our previously reblog-based roleplays to a real time chat experience on Discord. However, two things will remain on tumblr:

We still handle apps through this tumblr blog! This is the place to come if you want us to accept an application or answer questions regarding them.

The group has been on a down-low for the past few months, and we’ve been trying to see what we can do about that. We’re currently working on trying out different platforms for real time roleplays instead of the longer ones we typically see on tumblr. Blogs would still be encouraged and used for headcanons, references, and so on, but activity would be judged based on real time activity.

Real time rping would be based in either Skype or Discord, so those interested in remaining with us should look into both programs and familiarize themselves where they can. If we use Discord, the server will be given to all members, and to anyone newly accepted. We won't be making it public to anyone as we would like to prevent spam .

This transition won’t be quick or easy, but we hope to keep you posted!

Hey guys, TW mod here. I’d like to say that lately, all of us mods have noticed that group members have been struggling. Whether it’s due to being busy, or perhaps feeling overshadowed by active members, we’re not entirely certain, but we’re fairly sure those are the two sides of the spectrum.  We’d like to help any of our members feel comfortable with their roleplaying. We know many of you make “starter calls,” only to feel they get ignored, though this may mostly be due to the timing of the post itself!

As of now, any Smash Nation members, please tag your starter calls with “SN Starts” and we will reblog it for you! We hope to get starter attention across to all members, so everyone has a fair chance at roleplaying with other members!

If you’re in the Smash Nation Skype Group, your starter calls will also be shared to it. You may do it yourself, or one of the mods may post all of the current starter calls for you to see! They will be quoted at least once, at a time when everyone is more active.

When activity checks are run, we’ll be changing how it works a bit. If someone is struggling with Smash Nation activity, we’ll direct you to some starter calls by other Smash Nation members. If someone is struggling with overall activity, we can help you get some small threads going!

Ultimately, we want everyone who struggles to roleplay, be it due to time, lack of motivation, or feeling overshadowed/forgotten, to once again become comfortable with their roleplaying, and help us once again unify the group.
