Youâll never be alone When darkness comes you know Iâm never far Hear the whispers in the dark
//15//Enterd the house
Erik drank some coffee his grey eyes reading over a book he had heard a noise as he looked up with a raised brow âIs there something I can help you with?â he said  sighing a bit as he  put down his book
Rogue mentally cursed her bad luck, bumping into someone in the hallway had lead to the smallest of power drains, which had ended up with her here, wherever the hell here was. She cleared her throat as the man in the chair looked up at her. "Ah think 'm in the wrong place."Â

To be quite honest, the Aussie had expected some sort of vocal response to seeing him. Â He was almost disappointed for her to just move on with the conversation. Â
A light chuckle escaped him when she answered his question. Â She seemed pretty much normal, or what he could call normal the last time he saw her years ago. Â âGood, that bullshit never shouldâve hit the market.â Â Alright, he knew it wasnât being actually sold, but it was distributed, so the point still got across. Â
To her question, he simply shrugged. Â âThat blonde chick? Â Dunno. Â Donât really care, either.â Â He answered quite honestly. Â âHell, youâre lucky I hauled your ass outta there.â Â Why? Â He knew sheâd ask why. Â
"Although, itâd be quite the entertainment watching people drop dead while trying to transport you to who knows where, I couldnât let that happen, thereâs enough of us contained, they donât need another." Â He hoped that would cover whatever questions sheâd have. Â He didnât need an interrogation from her. Â After all, he did save her ass. Â He really didnât have to do any of this.
Of course he didn't know what had happened to the woman that had been trying to help her, but that was obviously of no consequence to him. Which begged the question of why he then proceeded to protect her of all people. If he'd know she'd taken the cure...well, no, that might have been a mystery to some people but she prided herself on knowing that he wasn't as bad as he tried to make himself seem.Â
Sure, he'd attacked people, joined the brotherhood, blown up buildings but he was still John. He just didn't believe in the peace the x-men were fighting for. That didn't make him a bad person, contrary to popular belief.Â
She felt lucky that he'd dragged her out of there if things were going as downhill as he was making out. "Thanks," she said, the corners of her lips quirking up slightly into an almost smile. She could try and figure out her feelings about her powers later, that wasn't a priority right now.Â
It was also a thanks for not letting her kill anyone. She didn't think she'd have been able to handle it if she had, not to mention she really didn't know what that would do to her. Make her stronger? Better? Or just crazier? "Guess I owe ya."Â
She stuffed her hands on her pockets, hiding the last of the skin. "How...how've ya been?" Maybe he wouldn't want to say, but she wanted to know, even if he was going to lie to her.Â

"Relax, would you!" âItâs not bubblegum. You donât chew it.â âSometimes I want to be alone, but right now I need you.â âOpen the damn door!â âYeah, I did it. What do you want? An apology?â âSo thatâs it. This is the end?â âWhere were you when I needed you?â âYou did that on purpose!â âHow could you hurt me like this?â âGet off of the road!â âTake me to bed now or lose me forever.â

Time had passed, but he wasnât sure how much. Â He lost track, and instead of actually doing anything, like he thought he would, he just laid there. Â His mind was running a mile a minute, wondering exactly what just happened, what he was doing. What was he even going to do when she did wake up? Â What would he tell her when she started asking questions.Â
Finally he heard something. Â He stayed where he was, unsure if she was actually up, but knew that she was conscious enough to make the noise. Â He exhaled, head turning towards the door. Â He was starting to regret this now. Â
He heard movement from the other room, but he didnât get up until he heard the familiar ring of her voice. Â Way too late to undo any of this now. Â He walked to the doorway of his bedroom and leaned himself against the outside of it, arms folded. Â He looked at her; she looked unsteady. Â However, his face had shown no pity, no sympathy. Â Just the normal give-no-shits expression that was usually set upon it. Â
"Not who you expected, right?" Â He spoke once he saw her look at him. Â He wouldnât blame her on that one; he didnât even expect it. Â He raised an eyebrow. Â "What the hell was that out there anyway?" Â He questioned out of curiosity. Â "Thought you took the cowards way out." Â He added, actually meaning the cure. Â Because to him, that would be suicide.
Rogue pushed aside the dull ache that was pressing at her temples, like her brain was trying to push its way out of her ears. Which, given her current predicament probably wouldn't have come as too much of a surprise. It was a weird day, she didn't think much would surprise her now. Except maybe that.
Her eyes widened as the bedroom door swung open to reveal John, of all people. Okay, so maybe there was room left in her day for surprises. She just wasn't sure if this was a bad one or a good one. She could hazard a guess that it wasn't a brotherhood thing, since both Magneto and Mystique had lost their powers- of course with her own coming back, theirs probably would be too.Â
She folded her arms across her chest defensively, surveying the blond where he stood. He wasn't wrong, he definitely wasn't who she'd been expecting, but then again she hadn't really been expecting anybody in particular. Maybe even a stranger. Certainly not him.
Her lips pressed together in a tight line. She should have expected that from him. Heck, she was getting that from her peers at the school, why not him too? "That's 'cause I did. Call it whatever ya want, yeah, I took it, but I guess they just don't make scientific breakthroughs like they used ta 'cause it's gone. It's warn off. Pretty sure that's what just happened."Â
She took her jacket from around her waist and put it back on. Better get rid of the exposed skin before she became more of a danger. "It might sound kinda cliche, but did y' just save me? 'Cause last thing I remember my powers kicked in an' I-I hurt someone, didn't I? Are they okay?" Why was she asking him? Like he'd know that.Â
Apparently watching things like Reign and The White Queen make me want to have a medieval court AU.

The sheer fact that the air was cold and bitter was the one reason that John was quickly making his way back towards his apartment. Â He hadnât planned on stopping for anything. Â It was at this time of year only that he wished he was back in Australia. Simply for the warmth. Â Or heat, rather. Â Heâd take the deathly heat of the outback over this bitter air of New York any day.
Even though he had planned on going straight home, someone with a certain streak of white in her hair caught his attention. Â Someone he hadnât seen in a while. Â Someone who he hadnât expected to see, either.
Considering she had been heading in the direction that he was, he kept behind her, watching her. Â Simply out of curiosity. Â Heâd noticed the lack of gloves, the fact that she slipped off her jacket. Â Clearly sheâd taken the cure and disappointment towards her became apparent on his face.Â
But he witnessed what had just happened. Â He wasnât seeing things, wasnât hearing things. Â But he wasnât the only witness. Â His eyes scanned the crowd that was slowly stopping in their tracks, muttering, hearing words like âfreakâ and words of hate and fear. Â
The pyrokinetic jogged up towards his fallen ex-classmate, ex-friend, past some people who had stopped in front of him. Â âBack off.â Â he barked at the gatherers. Â Why was he doing this? Â Wasnât he past this life? Â Past everyone there? Â He pulled out his Zippo and pulled a flame from it as a clear warning. Â Even with the crowd, John had managed to lift the southern mutant and take her away from the people, who didnât dare follow John with his dangerous fire. Â
Thankfully for her, he was nearly back to his place.  When heâd gotten there, again the question arose in his head: What the hell am I doing? Heâd managed to get her there without making any skin contact and now he lay her on his couch, leaving a glass of water at the coffee table for when she regained consciousness.  To escape the awkwardness, he retreated to his room, occupying himself until he heard her up.
Memories that weren't her own flashed through the young woman's head, memories of a life she remembered, but hadn't lived, a life that wasn't hers. A life that belonged to someone else. Someone who was fighting back, trying to get out of the prison that was her head, but Rogue knew better than anyone that it wasn't possible, that the blonde woman, whoever she was, was as trapped as all the other voices-or psyches as the professor had called them.
Now that her body had shut down the psyches had full range of her head, all the people she'd ever absorbed-the ones she'd thought long gone after she'd taken the cure. Cody, Bobby, Logan, Magneto, John, the mysterious blonde all clamoring for her attention, making her head pound.Â
A pained noise left her lips as she pushed away from the over-active psyches and fought back towards conciousness, eyes opening to find that she was no longer in the park and instead of staring at the sky, she was staring at the ceiling of an apartment.Â
She sat up quickly, glancing around and finding no-one. Had someone helped her? Saved her? Was it the blonde woman? This didn't look like the apartment of a woman, if she was being completely honest. Questions ran through her head. Who had saved her? Why? How long had she been out? Where was she?Â
"Hello?" she called out, getting unsteadily to her feet and looking around again, as though someone might appear out of the shadows. Which, knowing the mutant population of New York, they just might.Â

The sunlight filtered through the trees in the park, making Marie's vision swim as she looked up. A bare hand came up to wipe the water from her eyes as she blinked to remove the temporary blindness of peering directly at the sun. Fingers pinched the bridge of her nose and then brushed up through her hair, enjoying the feeling of the brisk wind, so very different to Mississippi.Â
She shrugged her jacket off her shoulders and wrapped it around her waist, savoring the feeling of being able to. She still hadn't quite gotten used to it, the idea that she wasn't going to hurt anyone with her poisonous skin. She took a deep breath, blinking again as her vision refused to return to normal. The world tilted sideways and she stumbled backwards, hand grasping for a tree or a bench, or an arm. Fingers closed tightly around said arm as she struggled to steady herself.Â
Instead of pushing her away like she'd imagined, there was a hand placed on her shoulder, steadying her with a surprising amount of force. "Tha-" she started but never got a chance to finish as there was the familiar prickle along her skin where the hands were.
No. She made to move away but the universe shifted again and the girl stumbled to the floor. She was vaguely aware of another body falling alongside her and the sensation she'd hoped never to feel again. Flashes of someone else's life, a blond woman, burred through her head quickly before she succumbed to unconsciousness.
âYes, yes. I heard it as well,â he muttered somewhat distractedly, earning an irritated purse of blue lips from the lab-coat swathed mutant at his side. Waving a hand, he willed the young man to quiet, straining to hear any traces of the sound. All he found was a piercing silence. Perhaps they were both going mad.Â
The sound in question had been a distant crash, one loud enough to echo down to the second subbasement where their laboratory was housed. Whatever it was must have caused quite a bit of damage upstairs. 'Alex, most likely.' That boy was going to be the death of him.Â
Lifting a cautionary finger, he silently urged Hank to stay put. If there truly was something amiss, it was best to investigate things himself. There was no sense in putting the kids in danger. -Hank would remind him that that âkidsâ was a term that no longer applied to their small but close-knit group-.
He padded down the corridor and up the steps to the foyer. Standing beside a collapsed side table was a young woman. âOdd.â More than the fact that she was a stranger, Charles was concerned by her appearance. Surely she hadnât gone out in a bathrobe? The girl seemed normal enough, her only distinctive feature a vivid streak of white in her otherwise raven hair. Perhaps she was human.Â
"My thoughts exactly," he said, not unkindly. Though his brow furrowed with unmasked bemusement, the telepath did manage a smile. "Do forgive me for being blunt, but who might you be and how did you get here?"Â
Green eyes scanned her surroundings as Rogue pulled the robe tight around herself, wondering if she was suddenly going to find herself jumped on by anyone else. Or teleported on, which was what had apparently happened. She eyed the broken side-table and cringed inwardly, if this was the mansion (and the longer she looked the more it looked like the mansion) the professor was- well, probably going to be really understanding.Â
Something still felt off, but maybe she had just absorbed teleportation powers and teleported down a floor. It seemed the most logical explanation. Some form of displacement had definitely taken place and she'd definitely absorbed a power right before it had happened.Â
She glanced at the doors, listening for movement behind them, any of the other students she might have woken up crashing around at the crack of-dawn? The light filtering through the window at the end of the hallway didn't look like the light that came from a sunrise.
Nope, no way. There was no way that time travel was involved here. Right?Â
The sound of footsteps made her turn, well, at least she wasn't alone, but was it friend or foe? She watched as a young man, possibly older than her, appeared. "Uh..." He wasn't someone she recognised, which was odd given that she knew most of the students in the school. "Rogue. Ah'm Rogue an' as for how ah got here, 'm gonna go with 'accidentally'. Who're you?"Â

Rogue crossed through the control room towards the labs, glancing at the screens as she passed by, she was surprised to see a figure at the gates. Stopping, she touched her finger to the gate intercom button and spoke, "Welcome t' Xavier's Institute, if y're here t' kill us please leave y' name an' number on the sign-up sheet, if y're here t' join, please approach the com, if y're here for somethin' else, please hold."Â
