Everyone gets that matter and energy are finite resources. But for some reason we have infinite souls?

You’re made up of everyone that ever was, Physically and spiritually. Your ancestors are literally in your dna. The water in your body was drank by dinosaurs. Your bones were grown by the flesh of everything you’ve ever eaten, and theirs by the bodies of people who putrified in the bog that became the field that fed millions.

Don’t get me wrong, people getting powers from eating metal is cool. And sure you’re system where magic is assigned to people by the order of colors in the electromagnetic spectrum that match their personal wavelength is neat and all

But. I’m not here for that. I’m here for MAGIC. And magic is a weird maximalist boiling pot of things and traditions that weirdos in towers fill creepy dusty books with.

It’s arcane secrets that take a lifetime to truly master, and have entire orders dedicated to gatekeeping. I shouldn’t be able to figure it all out over the course of a 250 word promotional brochure.

Don’t get me wrong, narratively and even on a basic level, I should be able to get the gist of it or at least a through line so I know what to expect while reading or watching or whatever.

It just feels like people are afraid or add stuff nowadays. Like yeah no, if you got an entire world of people doing this nonsense, they should be doing to some weird shit I’ve never even heard of in that country I’ve never been to.
