Stanley not only was taking care of a buissness, working on said buissness, stealing shit for the portal, looking for the other journals (is he didnt give up yet, REVIVING THE PORTAL but he was also TAKING CARE OF THE TWINS.

We see him in the first episode and its him getting distracted by the world's most distracting object- Oh! Haha! He totally isn't watching over the kids haha! NOT!!!!

Stan knew the kids asked the 8 ball if they should run, he gave them a free gift from the shop at the end of the first episode to probably try bribe them to like him. This man was BUSY working on EVRYTHING which is why he just let the twins run around- ITS WHAT HIS BROTHER AND HIM USED TO DO SO ITS NORMAL TO HIM GOD-

Stanley is an artist, full stop. He drew as a kid, wanted to make comics, ran a successful business that involved sculpture and taxidermy and likely even more than that. But no matter how dedicated he is to the arts, no matter how much work he puts into his creations, he is nowhere near as appreciated or respected as his brother and those in the sciences and maths. STEM and how good you are with numbers is how this world measures intelligence, and people like Stan aren't seen as smart enough bc of it.

Like there's a reason that arts, humanities, education, childcare, any subject that's traditionally female dominated or considered feminine is underpaid and un respected. And tech is at the top of the system's profit hierarchy. Patriarchy and capitalism are two structures that mutually reinforce one another. In the end most if not everyone suffers regardless of gender.

I'd place money that Filbrick probably told Stanley at some point that "art doesn't pay the bills." And then there's the whole school kills artists saying too.
