👻 a few weeks have passed since eden willow’s untimely death. there’s been a dark cloud over the florence family with seemingly no end in sight. ulrike and gwendoline have been at odds with each other, neither one being able to look at the other without making some kind of snide remark or a lip curl of disgust. all has been quiet, but that kind of quiet that screams.
but amongst that quiet, there’s been other things going on. first, it was just a couple of lights flickering. then, a few of the appliances kept breaking far more than they should’ve with gwen’s upgrades added to them. and then, one night, another fire.
ulrike and gwen ran down the stairs after the fire alarm began to sound. they rounded the corner in the kitchen to see a ghostly specter that looked a lot like their sweet daughter, hovering over a pot of macaroni and cheese that was being torched by flames. it was as if the entire scene of eden’s death was being played over again. both of them stood there, watching the horrifying scene play out all over again, only this time, eden willow didn’t perish at the end. no, their ghostly first born turned to face them, a scowl at the corners of her mouth and anger and rage bright in her eyes.
“ why didn’t you save me ? you let me burn. and then you let him take me. why didn’t you SAVE ME ?! “ the flames lunged upwards as eden’s voice rose, to the horror of her mothers. ulrike and gwen felt the flames attempting to lick at their skin, the heat snapping them out of their horror.
eden was already on her way downstairs towards the basement as the two women fought to put the blaze out. this would be the first time they worked together to accomplish something in weeks, but it wouldn’t be the last.
