Slugterra Confessions

A lot of fandoms have confession blogs but as far as I could tell the Slugterra fandom doesn't have one, so I decided to make one myself!

Want to share your hot take on a popular episode? Sure! Want to tell the whole Slugnet you find an unpopular character hot? Go for it! Got a rarepair ship you haven't found the right time to tell anyone you like? Absolutely!

This blog isn't meant to be taken too seriously but there are limits. Please read the rules before submitting a confession! Rule 1: all confessions MUST be Slugterra focused

MENTIONING other fandoms is allowed, but Slugterra should be the main focus. (IE comparing the writing of slugterra to another show or liking a cross ship)

Rule 2: Don't be a jerk or use this as a platform to harass people.

It's okay to say "I like X character/ship" or "I think this thing the fandom does is bad" but if your confession is something like "This ship IS THE BEST and everyone who dislikes it is a MORON" I am not posting it.

Additionally, mentioning specific users or fanworks such as fanfiction or AUS by name is totally okay! However if the intent is to spread negativity towards those who are mentioned then it is not allowed. I understand not agreeing with the actions of certain individuals within this fandom as I also have some of them blocked on my main account but do NOT use this as a platform to harass people or shit on their work.

Rule 3: Sail your ships but don't start wars

Shipping related asks are allowed and encouraged but problematic ships are not. Such as Minor X Adult (yes that includes Junjeli.)

Also, you may state that you dislike a ship and explain why you feel that way but do NOT include any jabs at the people who ship it.

Rule 4: Joke/unserious confessions are allowed, but do not spam them and please keep them on theme

Rule 5: keep things safe for work

I mentioned earlier that you can say you find a character hot, that is still true BUT please keep confessions of this nature relatively unexplicit (for example you CAN say "Oughhh this character is so hot 🤤" but anything like "I want this character to BLEEP BLEEP until I REDACTED and we both CENSORED is a bit overboard)

also this should be obvious but I will not accept any asks like this if the character is a minor or a slug.

Less of a confession but who are your top 3 favourite Slugterra characters?

I'm glad you enjoy the more peaceful vibes on this blog anon! I feel like there's a LOT of infighting on here and I didn't want this to become another part of that.

Anyways, even if it's not really a confession I don't mind answering questions like this!

I would say my top 3 are... *thinks*

Dr. Blakk (basic choice I know, but you can't beat the classics! Plus he's genuinely such an interesting character, especially when it comes to his ROTE appearance.)

The Goon (Making a slug one of the major antagonists was a very interesting choice imo.)

Spirex (I have a soft spot for the SIO1 game where he was originally introduced and I like his redesign in the show! But he didn't have enough time to shine.)

and as an honorable mention: Mr. Saturday! I enjoy is personality and mannerisms quite a lot and he gets a bonus point for being one of the first characters I was asked about on this blog! (along with Diablos Nacho)

Updates to the rules!!!

The original intro/rules post has been updated as opposed to making a new one but I will provide a simplified "patch notes" version of the changes here!

Mentioning specific users or fanworks by name is now allowed! But only if you're not spreading negativity towards them.

The "don't be captain obvious" rule has been REMOVED. It does not exist anymore.

"don't be a weirdo" has been reworded to "Keep things sfw" but the rule itself has only received minor changes

This is the shortened version of the alterations I have made, I highly recommend taking a look at the pinned rule post again (especially now that it's 1 rule shorter) if you wish to submit a confession but aren't sure if it's okay or not but this post covers the most important changes.

Wowie! 50 whole likes! I'm gonna be honest I never expected this side blog I kinda made as a joke to actually get any submissions but I'm glad you guys like it!

And then they appeared for 2 episodes and a portion of a film and never again

Which I know isn't that big of a loss but then Twist, despite seemingly be a rival of Eli, also gets a lot less screen time then you'd think he'd get.

I hate how much Slugterra wasted characters

Tbh, I would've preferred if they just spent 1-3 more seasons in the 99 caverns to tie up some loss ends before doing the Ghoul from beyond and all that

At this point we need a "My favorite characters didn't get the screentime they deserve" support group.

I was never a big fan of the hooligang (but they do get points for having one of the shows few female villains) but I feel like they had the potential to be interesting. As for twist I think it's a pretty common opinion that he wasn't given the arc he should have had so you're definitely not alone on that one anon, they definitely had the right idea when they removed Nacho for a season so he could get more time but in the end it still wasn't enough. And while I do agree that the 99 caverns should have been fleshed out instead of bringing in something from an outside of that and drastically shifting the focus towards those I feel like 1-3 seasons is a bit much.

Ok so uhh the submission box is a little dry right now... so I'm going to put one of my confessions here!

*inhales* I don't like the eastern caverns season. At all.

The show already had a problem with too many characters, especially in the villain cast but lets not do anything with THOSE LOSERS! Time for an entire season focused around this guy we introduced in the movies and an entirely new set of characters! Also the eastern caverns BARELY feel unique when compared to the 99 like apart from the distinct lack of Molenoids the humanoid species basically look the same apart from the cave trolls being different shades of blue and i guess the fish people don't have the black sclera in their eyes (aka the white part) but they could have been idk... DIFFERENT species of fish? Not to mention there are ZERO unique slugs we see in the eastern caverns and even the MECHA BEASTS are the EXACT SAME. Also I won't get too into it because this confession/yap sesh is already kinda long but the Emperor just isn't a very interesting antagonist. I feel like it says a lot that it's significantly easier to find fanworks like art or fics for characters who are in like 2 episodes than the main antagonist of AN ENTIRE SEASON.

I genuinely believe Eli was intended to be a non-white protaganist. For starters his 3d render's skin tone is tan. The way lighting is done during the run of slugterra sometimes makes him look whiter than he actually is but when you colour pick from his official render he is tan. Then there is the concept art. If you look at some of the earliest concept art of the characters, specifically the one with Concept stage Eli on a horse mecha vs thin legged concept blakk, concept Eli has those specific type of eyes that we see slugterra use for its asian characters(like junjie) Also Slugterra was made at a time when it wasn't THAT unusual for kid's shows to try to add representation in the main cast(even if it was horribly done in some cases).

And now my end point: This fandom white washes him alot in alot of fanworks.

Oh wow I don't think I've ever seen anyone else say this before. I don't really have much to say about this since I never really noticed any of that stuff but this was quite the interesting read!

That said, it irks me to no END that its original run ended seemingly just one season/movie short. It really feels like it would've just needed one more to resolve lingering plot threads like Will and Tad along with getting to see more of the Deep Caverns.

Yeah I see a lot of people say "We need more Slugterra!" but imo the later seasons/movies... aren't that good. I feel like everything after ROTE has no clear direction and I agree that the best way to continue the series would be with a reboot or remake because if we got another season it would probably just keep adding on to the problems the show already suffers from, especially the bloated character cast.

I totally agree with this! Flaringos are so cute it's a MASSIVE shame that they have to constantly be put down/nerfed to make the infurnus look stronger, plus I think they have my favorite megamorph design.

Obviously I understand it wouldn't make sense for them to be stronger than THE legendary infurnus and it wouldn't make sense for there to NOT be a more basic/common fire slug but I still wish it wasn't completely sidelined.

Hot take (I think), Will is way TO overrated by the fandom and the show itself. I know this is due to Eli's rushed development, but literally, with Slugterra's current villains, Will's power is totally regular dude

His strongest slug was defeated by Quentin and he died on the first ghouled attack,, I would have liked them to show him as someone who could solve things through his morals and grand words atp bcs we've never seen him demonstrate anything in battle (sorry the big yap)

Don't worry about the "big yap" I love reading longer confessions!

I totally get what you mean, we never really get a good look at Will's feats and what made him such a legendary slinger other than the occasional mention/flashback of what he did.

As for the whole thing with him 'dying' to the first ghoul, I see what you're getting at but it DID create a black hole, I think most people would die to that. But Burpy getting defeated by a roboslug was a biiit goofy IMO

I think nachoday is epicsauce and that they shouldve interacted more in the show ( and also just gave saturday more screentime in general )

Our first confession, and it's quite the unique one! I'm assuming "Nachoday" is Diablos Nacho and Mr. Saturday right? I didn't know anyone shipped them but I could see it. As for the second bit I can see why they didn't give Saturday more screentime but it would be neat if they found something else to do with him (honestly I would let ANY antagonist come back if it means less scrap force or Locke & Lode)
