Can I get

Take these two anims I made for ArtFight this year.

You should probably know that tumblr scales up the 1st gif, if you go to the actual page its posted youll see how tiny the thing actually is. That said I was able to get the most quality I could've through an actually relatively low framerate. 8 fps was all I needed for the whole cityshot complete with the guy standing watch. Less frames in a gif = less file size. The dog that shoots you can be afforded a bigger runtime AND higher frames per second because of the simple image quality and sparse colors. You'll see that on its page that it is also has much larger in dimensions, a lot of freedom in other areas is afforded when you cut back in colors and detail. 5 mb is not a lot to work with lets be real, so I always sort of have to plan in advance what I'm going to do for the attack while keeping technical limitations in mind. Always keep in mind how *smooth* you actually need your gif to be. I personally think 8 fps is the bare minimum to communicate movement believably but without a doubt it looks way smoother at higher fps counts. Up to a point that is lmao, 24 fps is ridiculous for a gif of someone just standing there. Look at him he's got anxiety :((((

Of course at the end of the day you decide what you think looks good! I find more often then not me going HARD on attacks bc I want to, and must decide whether to sacrifice runtime, gif dimensions, or visual quality (according to my own standards that is, this is mostly subjective).

And now one that has simple image detail. It's just black and white so individual frames are cheap, meaning bigger frames and more of them. So yeah! I know it sucks to be held back by such a small file size so you have to get creative! I think its a fun exercise in itself! If artfight ever increases the file size limit, hoooo boy the roof of possibilities would be much higher. :ooooo oh yeah also wherever you export (I use Clip Studio Paint) it from make sure you select 'dithering' to increase image quality at a cheap cost. It looks better and requires less size downgrading in my opinion lmao.
