can't sleep// stay awake

Cloud took a moment to look over the heart shaped box in his hands. He opened the lid and glanced inside at the chocolate candies. From what he had seen of this holiday so far, these were definitely the standard store-bought type of treats.

But just as he was about to pop one of the candies in his mouth, Siren mentioned poison. This caused him to freeze, put the candy back, and close the box all together. “…If that’s such a big risk for you, why take the chance with all of these?” He held up the box and shook it a little.

“ it’s not really a risk if they’re still sealed, nee~? ” siren rips open a bag of m&ms and downs half of the bag in one dip. they close their hands and smile fondly at what they’d still likely deem garbage chocolate, but “ besides! i used to eat trash straight out the can! i have a preeeetty strong stomach, you know~ ”

“Mmn, yeah, alright. I’ll take a few.”

“Huh. These are all from fans of yours?”

“…Oh, uh…”

“You…Don’t have to eat them. I just though it’d be…Nice. Uh…” Wow, he looked very much like a kicked puppy. This was the opposite of all the other reactions he had gotten, he barely knew how to process it.

“Man, you’re a celebrity or something, huh? Guess I messed that one up. Well, whatever, you don’t have to eat them.” He bounced back a bit, but it was difficult for someone like Galo to hide how he felt about something. Taking the bag back, he popped one in his mouth.

nooo, no, no, no. this is exactly why they hate talking to people that aren’t monsters or celebrities, and even then the latter is subjective. usually when people get reasonably upset with them, they don’t really care.

...but they’re also supposed to be the cute one. siren pouts and takes it right back out of his hands after seeing galo eat.  “ i mean when i get death threats every day i have to be careful, you know~? buuuut! ”

"Congrats."

“…”

“ARE YOU ALLERGIC TO MILK? OR CHOCOLATE? I CAN GET YOU SOMETHING ELSE-”

siren certainly isn’t a stranger to friends and fans giving them chocolates for the holiday. usually, there’s a careful screening. they typically politely smile and dump anything out that’s obviously homemade, running the assumption that there could be maliciously hidden razors or poison.

but those things are usually kept to himself. siren can’t help but blurt it out when they see galo’s sad craftsmanship... it’s supposed to be a joke.

the moment he finishes reading their reply, the crowd seems to grow exponentially bigger. john’s torn between feeling overwhelmed and prideful at the commotion but he knows there are more pressing matters at hand. this is almost as worse as the time when he and the others were being crowned for the human kingdom.

except at this point, he didn’t have to get too up close with the crowd. he’s starting to panic a bit, not wanting to totally brush off siren’s fans— 

“l-listen, it’s really nice meeting you all but i really have to get going. i need to meet up with someone—” he hastily makes his way out of the crowd before he starts bolting right out of there. a few runs in, he spots himself a little ways past that he grabs him and pulls him along. 

“you were here all this time and didn’t even help me??” he nearly yells at him but he keeps his grip on him as he runs away from the chasing crowd. he didn’t realise how fast he’s going but he can feel himself getting tired quick.

at first, siren is ready to silently nod and applaud him for being so brisk and polite about it. a little rusty with the confidence and poise of the line, but... then he comes towards them. no, this fucking dummy totally misinterpreted what they were trying to say... they probably should’ve mentioned going in the opposite direction and meeting up somewhere else.

while they’re confident floating is an option, it’s one that siren would rather not take up. it isn’t easy keeping up, lungs burning and legs built more for strength than speed... but it’s not like they really have any choice. damn their constant need to run away.

you don’t have a date for valentine’s?

nuh-uh~ i’ve been too busy~

“I’m not back home,”

“But I’m here now, right? And I like that, Galo-kun.”

“ y-yeeeeeeeeeah, but people reeeeeeeeally don’t suck as much here. ” 

“I mean, as long as they don’t attack I won’t.”

“I mean, in any case, I’ll protect you, Siren.”

“Which ones? The boomers? I mean it can be pretty tactical to just get the advantage before they attack…”

oh, it’s a planet! it’s really pretty and cozy. it’s been a while since i’ve been in it so, i thought i’d recreate it for nostalgia’s sake. 

…i clearly went a little overboard but…
