What a sweet boy!!!! Thank you for sharing him for drawing. I was originally gonna draw him screaming for food, but then I got caught up in his actual expression and thought it might be cool to incorporate the vibe of the lights in one of the refs.

Feeling inspired after completing my first attack of 2026 (& finding myself with more downtime), so I’m looking for more characters to attack!
This year, I am prioritizing users who have not been attacked yet & revenges. I am open to revenge chains and will also attack on request! Mine is Team Mystery, and I do friendly fire.
I love characters who are queer, colorful, or unusual in some way. Extra descriptions or details are my jam!

I was really intrigued by Aisuki’s evolution into the villain, so I decided to focus on capturing that characterization at the end—a flatter look in the eyes, the coldness, the brutality. I focused in on this with the sweeping arc of red—blood & death, especially represented in the transformed haymaker (too on the nose)? As a note on color, I decided it would look better in the triangular scene to have the background consumed by gold; but the areas on that are brown (the scythe blade, the base of the skirt, and the big bow at her back) would all be the same gold of the sleeves that are peeking out in the main background.
And, of course, I couldn’t resist bright colors or patterns! I would’ve liked to do more patternwork, but I think this is enough to make me happy.

Rosewater is a necromancer who discovered one of the secrets of immortal life—though, xe was unable to read the fine print due to it never having been translated. The consequences of not studying the language prior to the casting were two: first, that the artifact containing the details of the spell would utterly change form and appear in another dimension entirely; and, two, that the caster, separately, would do the very same.

Xir skin, nerves, muscle, and organs began to ripple and tighten. The sensation of thumbtacks puncturing blistering skin erupted over every millimeter of Rosewater’s body. Xir modifications to the spell affected the end result of this transformation, which became apparent in this next stage. Everything but xir skeleton melted into a green paint which shimmered in waves of pink and blue. It melded with the skeleton, and is always able to be activated and replenished by glittering surfaces of any kind—a handy pen or paint brush in any circumstance! Lastly, horns and thorns erupt from this green form; they are untouched by the color, though their pink and white surfaces shimmer just the same.
In life, Rosewater had felt disconnected from gender, wrestling furiously with the horror of occupying an ill-fitting vessel; ‘they/them’ had been far superior to the usual options. Upon experiencing the transformation into immortality, something cracked internally. A new understanding.

Rosewater eventually figured out how to restore their curly hair, and it was at this point in time xe felt complete. This body would do—always between life and death, but wholly xir’s, functional and familiar. This understanding led xir to adopt language that felt customized to a custom body; something with a fun shape, a little in-joke. And then, clear as day, it appeared: a skull and crossbones. ‘Xe/Xir’ have become the preferred pronouns, and have remained so ever since—and Rosewater still has a soft spot for ‘they/them’ and will use it every so often, especially when feeling nostalgic.

When angered, thorns of the same color and material prick out from the surface of xir body, and color begins to drip and form heavy pools from every green surface. The material form of the color, seemingly multiplied from thin air, is disturbing to behold. Whenever this happens, the materialized color must be collected, and the thorns must be trimmed off, lest Rosewater risk tearing every item of clothing xe owns.
A final object of note: the foldable shovel, known generally as ‘Trusty Shovel.’ A necessary tool for the traveling necromancer, it could only have been the shovel on hand as a hasty wand to seal the spell. Rosewater and the Shovel are inextricably linked by each other’s existence—and yes, the shovel is conscious and sensate.

This is my second year participating, so still figuring out my pacing with it. Feel free to DM me/reach out if you wanna trade attacks—or to mute the tag if this isn’t your thing. And Happy Pride Month!!
My intention this year is similar to last year—to encourage myself to both maintain and further explore creatively. Participating in ArtFight last year is what led me to fandom events, and it’s encouraged me to dig myself out of a rut again even just to prep. I hope to find joy, silliness, and curiosity this round. Seeya there!

This is a fun question! Honestly, I don’t think I feel strongly enough about most tropes to hate them, but probably the one I least vibe with that is common in fiction is the damsel-in-distress trope—there are some exceptions for sure, but so often I see this trope standing in for a character’s personality or personhood, and that can be kinda frustrating. I love to see a character who isn’t considered strong/who might need rescuing who is also more than just a damsel!

I also thought it might be fun to answer the inverse of this question—what’s a trope I love but other people hate?
The it’s a dream ending! This one used to frustrate me to no end, but now I find it to be fun to pick apart. When a story tells me that it was all just a dream or that it was all imagined or something like that, I try to challenge the text—can I trust what the narrative is telling me at this point? Was it really all fake, and if it was then what else might the text be suggesting or hiding symbolically?
This trope can absolutely be under utilized in stories, but I think when done with reflection, and when approached with curiosity can also be a lot of fun!

I had a really fun time creating this piece to submit to the Eldritch Bang--though I am quite familiar with creating creatures, this surprised me. I've been struggling a lot with my art this past year, and I got myself into quite a few events at once for the past few months, so there hasn't been much time for monsters. Anyway, Eldritch Bang was a great way to get back into it with a digital piece that's closer to my traditional process and FriendOfCarlotta was a wonderful teammate--please check out the fic that creates a fantastic world and context to pair with it!
As usual, I've also created some extended notes--due to the necessity for brevity in image descriptions, I've taken the opportunity to describe the art piece in greater detail. You'll also find at least a little bit of process, too, of course. Enjoy!

Just tried to make a post asking about ID preferences, then accidentally scheduled it and Tumblr swallowed it whole. Anyway, instead of remaking the poll I just went ahead and updated all the ALT text for personal posts through September to instead show up as normal text in the body of each post.
