KATE DREW / yaya dacosta kate drew was an incredible woman. she died when nancy was ten, right before her truly formative years, before nancy really got to know her. she still knows and remembers enough to miss the woman. she left a hole in nancy's life and heart that she's never been able to fill. carson always tell nancy that she's grown up to be remarkably like kate ( clever, adventurous, kind, beautiful ). sometimes it seems like he can't make up his mind on whether that's good or bad. carson loved his wife and it's clear he's still not over her death, he's often reluctant to talk about her.
