This is so powerful. This is what's imbued into a child's mind: abuse is for their sake, abuse is right because they've done something wrong, abuse meant love.

And the question that haunts them will be:

My grandmother abused my mom way worse than what my mom did to me. I know those hands pushed me down the stairs and beat my body for as long as I can remember but the thing is, I can't remember the vivid details of my childhood during those years.

I do remember that I despised being a child, and I wanted to grow up as quickly as possible so I could make my mom proud so she won't hit me anymore.

The aftermath of abuse can't be put into mere words. Instilling discipline through excessive violence is unnecessary. What a child needs is safety.

Safety that was taken away from me at a mere age of 8.

Although my mother changed for the good, I can't bring myself to forget. And I can't forgive her entirely. Thank you for this eye-opener video, I hope no child will experience these things.
