things i do at night to prevent anxious thoughts
If youβre anything like me then thoughts probably pop up in your mind that leads you to think about thousands of other things and that possibly leads to an anxiety attack. Iβve been trying to get my life in order and I used to have anxiety attacks every night. So I thought Iβd share what I do at night after my nightly routine to make sure Iβm ok and can go to sleep with no worries. Everything I mention might not be for everyone and thatβs ok. If you findΒ something that works for you continue to do it! This is just what I do to make sure I donβt have an attack.
checking in with my current emotions β I do this every night (and day) just to keep track of how I was feeling and why, butΒ this works the best at night if Iβm feeling a bit anxious. I can go back to see why IΒ felt that way and keep it in mind for next time. I do this with an app calledΒ Pacifica. On there, you can do other things like journalling, create a hope board, track your health, etc. but I only use it for moods and health.Β
listen to calming music β My calming music is the Peaceful Piano on Spotify. I think itβs best to listen to music that have no words that can trigger emotions (donβt get me wrong beats can trigger emotions as well but the music will become white noise. Iβll explain soon)
putting my phone on do not disturbΒ β After putting my music on, I let everyone who I talked to before bed know that I wonβt be near my phone and itβs on dnd. Itβs best for me to not get distracted because once I go on my phone to check something, I end up checking social media and end up thinking βwhy am Iβm laying here while everyone else is doing something with theirΒ life?β So dnd it is!
distracting my mind βΒ For me, I distract my mind with a crossword puzzle. Iβm so focused on finding words that my mind doesnβt have time to think about all my worries. You can distract your mind however you see fit - a coloring book, reading book, etc. As I work on my crossword puzzle, the music playing in the background turns into white noise.
getting ready to drift to sleep β As Iβm distracting my mind I tend to get sleepy pretty fast. So I put it away, lie down, and drift off to sleep!Β
Try to not let your thoughts consume you. I know itβs hard but I know we can get through π
Had to reblog so I can get back to this routine π©
