Killer of the Sea

i dont think i can even explain why i like driftrod so much and why it works so well to me post-grounded ending. something about the ways in which they love each other and themselves and other people. drift loves so achingly deeply, and he thinks that he loves everyone more than he could ever love himself, but he loved himself enough to save himself and let himself Be loved. rodimus loves people, but considers himself selfish, questions whether he could love or prioritize anyone as much as he does himself, and yet he constantly disregards his own wellbeing in favor of others and cant love himself enough to persevere without some kind of grand motive (stops taking care of himself after grounding of the lost light, locks himself in his room for six months once megatron becomes co captain, etc etc). rodimus couldnt love drift the way that drift could love him but that doesnt mean that the love wasnt there. and maybe someday rodimus will realize that he is capable of loving someone enough to put them first, and hell feel guilt like never before because he wasnt able to do that for drift. and maybe someday, a long long time in the future, drift will tell him that he can try again
