I recently sat down and finally watched Jeremy Saulnier’s newest film, “Green Room”. Leading up to the film’s release, I must say that I was not quite sure what to expect. I had always heard about how great his previous effort, Blue Ruin was, but I unfortunately have not seen it. I was truly going into Green Room with no expectations; good or bad.

After seeing it, I must say that it is a good film, however, I did not see it as the masterpiece many are making out to be. What really stood out to me was the film’s color grading and it’s overall palette. Most of every shot in the film has some form of the color green in it, and whatever isn’t is often complemented by either reds or oranges. The film is pleasing to look at even in it’s times of graphic violence. 

The acting is good too, but nothing too special; (with the late Anton Yelchin giving a great performance). I do however wish that Patrick Stewart was given more to do, but for what it was, he was fine.
