So what weāve determined is that Chris Pike somehow wrote this program. Nice.

erinthevampireā:
She lifted an eyebrow when he kissed her hand, that was unusual. She shook her head,Ā āI donāt think so, specially being what I am, Mr. Leland.ā She poured the drink she had on the ground and got up, finishing her cigarette.Ā āShow me the way then,ā she said letting him lead the way. She walked next to him, she wasnāt going to read his mind, it was impolite but her defense mechanisms were on high alert and if anything proved to be a trap, she would break his neck in a blink.
āI know an exotic woman like meā¦.yes, I have an exotic beauty, I admit, drinking alone in a bar tends to attract men but I can feel thereās more to this story than you are showing so buy me that whiskey and say what you want. I can easily extract from you but I wouldnāt like to do that.ā
When one walks next to monsters often, you simply accept your fate and refuse to be moved.Ā Erin probably wasnāt even the most dangerous entity Leland would deal with this month.Ā Ā āI believe you might find extracting my secrets harder then normal.āĀ Leland replies, a slight smile on his lips as he holds the door for Erin.Ā There are some benefits to not be nearly as human as he appears.Ā And should that fail, the Section has built in fail safes to kill him and leave their secrets protected.Ā
Itās a hole in the wall place, run by an operative of Section 31.Ā Former operative, if one goes by the books, but the Section rarely does.Ā But it does have what Erin is looking for.Ā Ā āOne Earth whiskey, please.Ā And Raktajino.āĀ The drink might be Klingon, but Leland will admit a fondness for it.Ā He gestures to a stool, but thereās also a couple booths scattered about and heās mildly curious to see what the vampire will chose.
competenceknowsnoboundsā:
She hates, absolutely despises saying it, but that actually gives One pause. Sheās never had any desire to have kids herself, and in fact is repulsed by the concept of undergoing pregnancy herself. Itās just a no-no for her. Not that she doesnāt have sympathy for those who want kids but canāt have them. In fact, thatās what makes her pause in the first place.
Children, on the other hand? Theyāre fine. Sheās okay with them, and theyāre funny little creatures sometimes. Her captain, on the other hand, is apparently starting his midlife crisis a little early and is absolutely enamored with them. But the more she thinks about it, the more of a fighting mood sheās in. And like a good intelligence officer, she sees an internal weakness she can exploit.
āI think thereās some communication problems going on here,ā she says. āAnd itās none of my business-ā (itās absolutely her business now, in this weird bathroom sparring match) ā-but I think you and the captain are on different pages about children. Heās been rather confident in his assumption that he will have them. And I donāt doubt that itās you whom he intends to have them with, so maybe you should talk about that.ā
Thereās no use peering into the dark behind Leland, she knows that the captainās bedroom is three doors past the bathroom. But still, in that restless nighttime feeling, she can imagine Chris tossing and turning in bed, looking for a person One is quite confident will let him down. And sheās quite confident that sheās doing Chris a favor here.
āWe have talked about it.āĀ Leland hadnāt told Chris any specifics about what heās agreed to let the Section do to his body, but he has told him that itās unlikely heāll be having any kids.Ā Ā āThat doesnāt mean Chris heard.āĀ The man was remarkably stubborn when it came to things he doesnāt want to hear. A younger Leland had found it endearing.Ā Now, a much older Leland finds it worrying.Ā Ā āIād love our child, if we were blessed enough to have one.āĀ Leland can only hope theyād take after Chris, the man doesnāt need anymore heartbreak in his life.
Of course, the good mood Leland had when he woke up next to Chris had all but evaporated during his conversation with Number One.Ā He considers their business concluded though, and makes to go back to bed and wake Christopher up. Or maybe just cuddle him a bit more and forget everyone heās killed to get here.

Communicator: Itās standard issue & therefore, he always carries it with him.
Holographic disguise: You never know when youāre going to need to be someone else.Ā Ā
Pocket Watch: Thereās a holo inside but Leland never opens it so who knows what it looks like.
Fire starter: Look, sometimes you end up stranded in a swamp and you really need a fire.Ā Sometimes you have to do a low tech interrogation.Ā Great for both.
Water purification tablets: Left over habit from when he was always stationed in the back woods of no where and couldnāt always rely on Starfleet to bring water rations.Ā Also great if youāre on a planet pre-water purificationĀ

āItās hardly my intent to control his choices,ā she replies snidely.Ā āBut I certainly want those around them to make the best choices they can. And as far as I can tell, there is nobody better than Captain Pike. Therefore, we should try to match our choices to his benefit, no?ā
And if she didnāt feel so much loathing when she met this Leland, she probably wouldnāt pull this card. But hey, itās early morning, and their little reunion kept her up late last night anyways. One is feeling petty. So that little question becomes a statement, and she adds a little incendiary device on the end.
āBut as Iām sure youāve heard, our dear captain has talked a big game recently about having kids. So perhaps Iām just acting in the best interests of my future godchildren when I question your motivation for being here.ā
āIf the universe was as good as Christopher Pike is, then itād be an easy choice to quit my job, move to Mojave and be Chrisā stay at home husband.Ā But itās not.āĀ And all the bad choices he made were so that someday, the Federation would be everything Chris thought it was.Ā And that meant long hours, blood on his hands, and leaving Chrisā warm bed at odd hours of the night on the rare chance he got to visit.
One doesnāt like him.Ā And Leland isnāt going to bother endearing himself to her.Ā Hell, he might even be able to use this.Ā Ā āIf you want, youāre welcome to try and convince Chris to,ā sign divorce papers,Ā ābreak up with me.Ā If he does, Iāll leave and never darken his doorstep again.Ā But I come back because he wants me here and I cannot tell him no.āĀ It is a small source of shame to know that if Chris was happily married and still kept calling Leland around, Leland would be his dirty little secret without a thought for Chrisā partner.Ā The good news was that Chris was far too gentle to ever do that to someone he loved.Ā Ā
The reminder that Chris wanted kids made Lelandās chest ache. āThereās a high chance that I wonāt be giving him any kids,āĀ He didnāt let any of his pain show, keeping his voice steady.Ā There had been plenty of time to practice.Ā Lelandās genetic material had been purposefully sabotaged.Ā Section 31 told him that they didnāt want anything that might compromise him, including children.Ā So while it wasnāt impossible, Leland doubted his nightly activities with Chris would result in children.Ā Ā āSorry about your plans for godchildren.Ā But perhaps you could use that in your argument.Ā If thatās all, Iād like to get back to bed.āĀ Chris might go looking for him if he woke up without Leland in his bed, and Leland didnāt think heād smile too favorably upon this little meeting in the bathroom.
You donāt get to die and be reborn the same. You come back,Ā but you come back wrong. This is the price you pay for resurrection.

After so many months travelling through uncharted territories, it was nice to finally have some leave. Theyāve stopped at some planet, she didnāt even bothered to find the name and as usual, she was left alone. She was starting to regret joining Starfleet. Apart from the captain and Spock, no one seemed to trust her. What happened toĀ āwelcome all races and such?ā if they kept her away all the time?
She lit a cigarette, one of her precious possessions and ordered a drink. After blowing some smoke, a handsome man sat next to her and began to talk. She raised an eyebrow, that was the oldest line in the book but she could feel that was not the reason he was there, he clearly wanted something else.Ā āI havenāt checked but thereās no sign against it, please.ā She sipped the drink,Ā āCanāt find a bloody decent drink anywhere. How I miss my Irish whiskeyā¦how I miss home. Starfleet and the Federation are a fucking joke.ā She sighed deeply and inhaled more of her cigarette.Ā āI am Erin, Erin Buxton but I suspect you already knew that right?ā she asked offering her hand.
@slavetothesection
Leland kept his charming smile up and when offered the hand, raised it to his lips and kissed it.Ā An old fashioned gentleman had their places (and it was always harder to have bugs placed on him this way then with a traditional handshake).Ā Ā āMs. Buxton,āĀ Leland greeted warmly,Ā āI think you overestimate me just slightly.āĀ Of course he knew her name- he knew that to her favorite bloodtype, it was his job to know things.Ā But he only rarely let anyone know that.Ā Ā āBut my horrific oversight of you has now been rectified.Ā You can call me Leland, all my friends do.āĀ Leland didnāt have any friends.Ā And if he did, yes they would probably call him Leland.Ā Thereās only so many options when you have one name after all.Ā Ā
āIf itās truly just an Irish Whiskey you miss, I know a place nearby that does them.āĀ It happened to be the perfect place for Leland to...introduce her to the idea of Section 31 as well.Ā See how many pesky morals the old vampire had before feeding her the hard sell.Ā Though considering she did just insult Starfleet, there might be hope for her yet.
ā I will kill you without spilling your blood on the ground, not touching you with my hand, not giving you one glance. ā ~~control verse?~~
Control-Leland laughed, the sound spreading like an oil slick across the room.Ā Ā āOh, darling,ā itās an affectionate name, delivered as an insult,Ā āyour attempts at combating me are amusing at best.Ā You are mine.Ā Body.Ā Heart. Soul. Mind. Ship.āĀ Every word is punctuated with a step forward, until theyāre breathing the same air- or would be if Pris wasnāt so short.Ā Ā āI could kill you with a thought. Snuff you out of the stars.Ā But youāre going to be my queen, so I wonāt.Ā My beautiful,ā he makes sure her body canāt move,Ā āsubmissive,ā tilts her head up just so,Ā āqueen.ā And seals it with a kiss.Ā
ā Youāre late. Way too late. Iām glad to see you, nonetheless. ā --sectionborn
@sectionborn
Leland laughed, wiping the blood from the formerly pristine medical uniform he was wearing.Ā Ā āIām not late.Ā I arrived exactly when I intended to. You had everything handled.āĀ Getting here had been nasty and they mightāve broken a couple thousand treaties- nothing the Federation had to know about.Ā Ā āDid you have fun?āĀ The literal mound of bodies was testament to that answer.Ā Ā āJust wait, extraction is even more fun.ā

Ā Ā Ā Ā Ā Ā Ā Ā QUOTE STARTERS :Ā IVĀ Ā Ā Ā ANNA AKHMATOVA
ā You will hear thunder and remember me. ā
ā If you were music, I would listen to you ceaselessly. ā
ā I seem to myself an accidental guest in this dreadful body.Ā ā
ā Call me a sinner, mock me maliciously. ā
ā I, from the very beginning, seemed to myself like someoneās dream or delirium. Or a reflection in someone elseās mirror. Without flesh, without meaning, without a name.Ā ā
ā I knew the list of crimes that I was destined to commit.Ā ā
ā The future ripens in the past, so the past rots in the future. ā
ā You are untranslatable into any one tongue.Ā ā
ā I was hoping my silence would fit yours. ā
ā See, we were never about butterflies. All about us is unearthly and radiant. ā
ā You do not know just what youāve been forgiven.Ā ā
ā I need to slaughter my memory.Ā ā
ā Forgive me that IĀ appeared to you in waking dreams.Ā ā
ā I will condemn, I will forget, I will give comfort to the enemy. ā
ā I know beginnings, I know endings too, and life-in-death. ā
ā Wild honey smells of freedom. But gold smells of nothing.Ā ā
ā You are three times more beautiful than angels. ā
ā I will kill you without spilling your blood on the ground, not touching you with my hand, not giving you one glance. ā
ā You invented me. There is no such earthly being. ā
ā Youāre late. Way too late.Ā Iām glad to see you, nonetheless.Ā ā
ā Forgive me that I felt forsaken. Forgive me that I kept mistaking too many others for you. ā
ā Real tenderness canāt be confused, itās quiet and canāt be heard.Ā ā
ā What else lived in that house besides us? ā
ā How unhappy we are together!Ā ā
ā I defend not my voice, but my silence. ā
ā Without love, Iām more at ease, Iām sure.Ā ā
ā Iāve got no more tears or explanations.Ā ā
ā Iām not complaining. Happiness is not for me.Ā ā
ā Are you not the only tie between good and evil, earthly pits and paradise?Ā ā
ā In the morning we shall find out who has died in the night.Ā ā
competenceknowsnoboundsā:
āMy captain is an incredible man,ā she affirms, stepping around the counter as well.Ā āBut in my capacity as first officer, it is also my duty to watch out for his well-being.ā
It would be easy to give the man a shovel talk and leave. Let him lay back down with the captain in bed, and prepare to deal with the angst when Leland inevitably leaves again. But much of her life experience has taught her that thereās generally more to a story.
āHe is an incredible, loyal man, but I wonāt allow you to take advantage of that.ā
It would be a lie to say Leland hadnāt expected this.Ā Christopher always attracted the best and brightest and most loyal of Starfleet.Ā It would probably keep his dear idiot safe.Ā Ā
āHow unfortunate,ā and here Leland kept his voice light,Ā āit is for both of us that we donāt get a choice.Ā Christopher decides who keeps his heart, not us.Ā And he has,ā foolishly, but thatās implied,Ā ādecided itās mine.Ā I could walk back in there and tell him Iāve found someone else, someone better and after three or four attempts he might finally understand.āĀ Christopher was no idiot, but he could be a bit thick when it was something he didnāt want to hear.
āAnd itād break his heart.Ā Heād probably move on.Ā Heād also probably leave me half a dozen comm calls of him asking to know what he did wrong and if he could fix it.āĀ Itād take a greater man then Leland to resist Chris begging for him to come back.Ā Ā āWould you put your Captain through that simply so I canātĀ ātake advantageā of him?ā
If anyone asked why Section 31 kept such a close eye on the Enterprise crew, the answer given was the Enterprise was the flagship of the Federation and it should always have an eye or two on it.Ā The real answer laid somewhat closer to the fact many, many interesting people called the Enterprise home.Ā Erin was only one such person, but Leland was assigned to making sure this one became one of theirs.Ā Keep your allies close and your enemies even closer.Ā Or, in this case, the vampire no one quite trusted.
It required, unfortunately, a bit of a personal touch.Ā So Leland approached her on shore leave, when nearly everyone was relaxed.Ā He offered her a charming smile as he joined her, ordering a drink for himself.Ā Ā āI couldnāt help but notice you, sitting all alone,ā he started,Ā āmind if I join you?ā
queenofsection31ā:
She sneered inwardly at the summons, her hooded eyes glancing at the backs of the rest of the crew of the Section 31 ship. None of them moved, and it made her happy to think they were treating her like a predator one that would pounce if they made a mistake. It was as it should be except for Leland. But he had his uses. For now, he was a target for the ire of the Admirals. Later, heād be cannon fodder or target practice.
Michael and Spockās escape had been orchestrated to perfection, or if he suspected sheād helped Burnhamāoh well. Let him try to prove it. Neither of them would be given as trophies for her captain. Not while she breathed. They might not be the Michael and Spock she knew from her universe, but it was obvious Michael cared about her. It was also becoming quite clear that she loved the girl as well. As for Spock, she had affection for her Spock as well, but that was another story entirely.
āIs this going to be a lecture, a rant, or something productive?ā she purred as she stalked into the ready room, taking a seat before being offered one in yet another display of dominance or at the very least equality.
He didnāt bother rising to any of her bait- she thought she was queen of this castle?Ā Fine, it didnāt bother Leland in the bit.Ā One didnāt have to wear the crown and it tended to be safer where people looked over you.Ā Let her think whatever she wanted about him, all he needed from her was her mind.Ā Sheād been the Emperor where she came from and that, that was something Leland could use.Ā And he would use it, right up until he couldnāt anymore.Ā And then heād dispose of her, whether literally or just shuffling her off someplace where she couldnāt get to him.Ā Back to Qoānos maybe.Ā Ā
āIām worried about Lt. Commander Spock,āĀ Leland started with, figuring the best way to deal with Philippa was let her work towards her own goals which he had clearly stated donāt interact with his at all.Ā Ā āWhile he seems better, Iām worried and would like to keep a closer eye on him.Ā Since youāve had so much success with Ash, perhaps youād like to give a crack at him?āĀ If it was up to Leland, heād play off the fact his mind was recently manipulated and that he couldnāt be trusted, but he was curious as to what, if anything, Georgiou would suggest.Ā Ā
āI think itād be best if we managed to keep Mr. Spock away from his sister,ā Leland continued,Ā ālest she put herself in more danger for him.Ā She seems to have quite the self-sacrificing streak and itād be a shame to see Starfleet lose another fine officer.āĀ His reasons for wanting Burnham safe were a bit selfish, but oh, well.Ā It happened to align with Georgiouās interests, so this little indulgence of his could be fostered for now.

Betrayal - Leland & Spock
1stofficerspockā:
@slavetothesectionā
In a cavern beneath their ancestral home Spock scratched the numbers ā8-4-1-9-4-7ā into the reddish stone walls, filling every blank space that he could. His fingertips were scratched with nails torn, leaving smudges of green blood the dry stone quickly swallowed. At his feet, rare puddles from the seasonal monsoon reflected the lights of the katra stone filled walls.
He was lost. His sense of self had been washed away, yet somehow heād managed to go home. Had he been in his right mind, heād be shocked to find himself there. Spock could not remember the last time heād felt welcome or as if he belonged there. But then time didnāt matter. He had no way of knowing whether he was running out of it or drowning in it.
Looking over his shoulder, he saw the broad-shouldered human enter the chamber with Sarek. His mother was distraught. Tears or perhaps rain had left trails down her cheeks. She was angry with Sarek, and an argument began as the human approached him. In his state he was incapable of understanding what his parents were saying.
ā8-4-1-9-4-7,ā he told the human, as he allowed him to draw him from the wall. āāBut itās no use now,ā thought poor Alice, āto pretend to be two people! Why, thereās hardly enough of me left to make one respectable person!āā
Leland watched the half-Vulcan with blank eyes.Ā All the secrets of the universe trapped in that head.Ā He wanted to crack his brain right open and see what bubbled inside, but sometimes the best solutions were the ones that were a bit more roundabout.Ā Leland didnāt think the half-Vulcan (Spock, he reminded himself, Sāchn Tāgai Spock) was all there right now, but that was okay.Ā Functioning wasnāt a requirement for being a Section 31 agent at all.Ā Ā
āBeing a respectable person is overrated anyways,āĀ Leland said quietly, recognizing the quote for what it was (an old Terran fairytale) but fully content to act like he did.Ā Ā āMr. Spock, Iām going to need you to come with me.āĀ His hand was on his phaser, should he need it.Ā Better safe then sorry, after all.Ā Heād seen what Spock had written on the walls, he knew the numbers meant something but he didnāt know what yet.Ā Hopefully, Mr. Spock would be forthcoming.Ā Ā āWeāre taking you to my ship for treatment.Ā If you think you need treatment.āĀ One had to wonder what was going through Spockās mind.Ā The officer had been a model officer until heād killed three men, and that made Leland itch to use him all the more.Ā Ā
competenceknowsnoboundsā:
From what little she knows of Leland, from photographs and a vague picture of him in Chrisās descriptions, sheād built a sort of profile of him in her mind. Besides, who could her captain fall in love with? Pike was kind, and gentle, and rarely hurt a fly, so One had assumed his chosen partner would be the same way. But sheās starting to see now that opposites attract, to use the Earth saying, and her captainās partner was neither kind nor gentle, and probably killed the flies for Pike.
āYouāre the one from the captainās little shrine,ā she says with a hint of disdain towards both him and the concept of the shrine itself.Ā āBut given that youāve been absent from his life for quite some time, Iāve wanted to meet the man himself.ā
Scratch that, thereās a lot of judgement there. Towards a man who thinks he can just reappear and has the gall to be so cocky towards her and the way heās treating Chris. But somehow, thereās concern in there too. After all, this is Chris on the line here.
At the reminder of the shrine, Leland winces, but he hides it in the damp washcloth he wipes away the rest of the shaving cream with.Ā He runs his hand over his stumble- which really hasnāt changed in length at all, but Number One doesnāt need to know about his grooming habits.Ā Leland had presumed that Christopher would move on- but he should have remembered how loyal his Christopher was.Ā Really, the ravages of time had treated Chris quite kindly, even the budding grey in his hair managed to make him look more distinguished.Ā
āI am,ā Leland confirmed, seeing no point in hiding it,Ā ābut my absence was...complicated, to say the least. I never asked him to wait for me.āĀ And if Leland had come back, he certainly would not have expected the enthusiastic greeting that had actually awaited him.Ā Ā āYour Captain is an amazing man, Commander Xcale.āĀ He stepped away from the counter and looked her in the eye.Ā Ā āYouāve met me.Ā Now what do you want?ā
