Lol God forbid you dare to critize JR's or any fandom Darling for that matter.

The downside of criticising visuals focused fangames for not being fun or well thought out as playable projects is that people who never played a single fnaf game and skipped repetitive gameplay parts will be quick to point out how you actually despise this game and therefore offended them personally. To love your darling is to understand and accept their flaws instead of going lalala and I fear some fnaf fans just aren't ready for that or think they're not allowed to still enjoy them

Posted this one on twitter so might as well share here. My contribution to fnaf fangame types discussion with some criticism and things I think actively hurt those genres

Due to twt crowd taking things literally (shocker) here's breakdown of each section

1) Fnaf remakes, remastereds, "X game but there's a twist" and reimaginings that are often done by people who don't understand strengths of original source material so they add new mechanics and fix elements that were never broken in the first place. It leads to unfun overly complicated gameplay and designs that try too hard to be edgy with no substance

2) Any free roam game really Fredbear is used more commonly for obvious reasons

3) Style over substance. I used JR's as prime example as it represents fangames with fantastic designs and environment but lack fun and replayeble gameplay loop. Many fangames are done with visuals as main focus and forget they're supposed to be played and often don't do a good job at explaining the mechanics. This is not directed towards just JR's specifically
