julianmatthews:
Almost without missing a beat, nearly cutting her off, even, he said, âThe first substance that comes to mind is anthrax powder, but Iâm not sure where to get that. I might look up how to make it, though. Iâm curious now.â Heâd never been one to watch his words, regardless of who he was speaking to, which was how heâd landed himself in trouble in school and other public places several times. âIâm giving it away because I donât want it. I thought about throwing it away, but my parents always told me never to throw away food. Then again, they also once tricked me into believing Santa Claus is real, so they could just be full of shit, really.â He watched as the girl swiped her tongue over the frosting, standing unbothered with face devoid of any outward expression as he looked on. âWhy would I take it back? I just gave it to you.â
Sky stared at him for a moment, lips pressed together in a thin line. Perhaps licking the cupcake hadnât been the smartest idea, but if it killed her then⌠Itâd be the end of what felt like an eternal run, but she figured it wouldnât be as bad as it sounded. âYour parents sound hella deceitful, I wouldnât trust them if I were you.â She shrugged after a moment. âI donât know, you just gave a stranger a cupcake, you could be planning on taking it away just to see the happiness drain off my eyes or some evil plan like that.â

SURPRISED at the fact someone stepped in, Mica could feel the tightness in his chest easing slightlyâ slightly being a key word. White knuckles stopped gripping so tight and he looked towards the girl whom had spoken for him, a grateful beam working across his face as he nodded his head, hair bouncing slightly in tow. âY-YeahâŚâ he started, cheeks forming a light dusting of pink as he felt more and more stupid at the fact he was struggling to ask someone not to be a dick. âThank you! Some people kindâve forget that other people exist i guess. But youâd think theyâd see someone who was nearly 6â˛, right? Hahââ Why are you still talking? Shut up, stop embarrassing yourself! ââ Sorry, Iâm rambling.â
Skylar gave a slight shrug. ââSall good.â She was reaching back for the candy bar sheâd been planning on stealing and offered it out to him. âYou can thank me by buying this for me, I left my wallet back home.â A lie, of course, but one that wouldnât hurt anyone, if they didnât dig too deep that is. She did have to look up at him, at nearly a foot shorter than him it was impossible not to see him. âSome people might be blind, you never know, maybe they thought you were a tree⌠in a store, because theyâre stupid,â She smiled. âYouâre fine.â

He frowned, lips slightly pursed as he tried to consider what she was trying to imply. âI donât know anything about breaking anyoneâs heart,â he said, which was really against the point she might have been trying to make regarding the supposed âpoisonâ. With a slightly bated breath, he added, âThereâs really no such thing as a broken heart, anyway. Well, there is, but it has more to do with the tendons in your heart, which you might know as heartstrings than the actual heart itself. Itâs said people have died exhibiting cardiomyopathic symptoms, but because of too much stress. Which, I guess, people likened to a âbroken heartâ.â He nodded, but before she could react, he gestured towards the box that was now in her hands once more. âItâs not poisoned, by the way. It should disintegrate the cupcake by now, and it hasnât yet. Iâm assuming she bought it yesterday or at least sometime last night, because she gave it to me early this morning where I donât imagine any pastry shops wouldâve been open.â
Skylar blinked, somewhere along the way sheâd lost everything heâd been saying. He did talk a lot and she wasnât particularly interested in the functions of heart tendons, or whatever. The cupcake in her hands did look delicious though and, while she wasnât about to give it back, she had to question his motives. âHow could you know if it would consume it? What if it was some powder type poison was sneaked into the mix or something?â Still, as she spoke, her hands were busy opening the box and bringing the cupcake up to smell it. âWhy are you giving it away though? Not that Iâm giving it back,â She stuck out her tongue to lick it. âSee, itâs mine now, you canât have it back, it has my germs all over it now.â
âHere.â He extended a box with a pretty pink ribbbon on top towards the other person, nearly tossing it at them, really, in his blatant disinterest. âItâs a cupcake. Some girl gave it to me at school today, and I havenât touched it since then.â Motioning the box closer, he urged them on. âTake it.â
âI mean, sure, okay, dude.â Skylar shrugged as she took the box that was practically pushed onto her hands. âHow do I know you havenât poisoned it or that the girl didnât poison it for some kind of vendetta against you because you broke her heart or something along those lines?â If he was giving it away now, she wouldnât doubt him having done it before if the girl gave him something else before.
STANDING in the queue at Target, he had his weekly basket of food and other random stuff that he probably canât afford but Targetâs deals made him buy them. He just wanted to get in, and out again but no. Being cut in front of, Mica had a debate with himself in his mind. Say something. Tell them thereâs a line, that thereâs other people waiting. Do it! âUhmââ he started, tapping them on the shoulder. âExcuse me, thereâsâŚother people. Could you maybeâŚI mean, the back of the queue isâŚâ Trailing off, he looked down at the hand that was holding his shopping and could feel that familiar feeling in his chest growing tighter and tighter.Â
âHey, what the dude here is trying to say is, move to the fuckinâ back of the line.â Skylar interjected despite her trying her best to keep a low profile. But she didnât have any time for assholes and the man trying to defend himself was not doing a very good job it. She placed the candy bar she had been planning on taking and looked up at the guy as the other one walked away now that theyâd been noticed by the other people in the line. âPeople fucking suck. You good though?â
Warren preferred to go to the gym early enough to beat the evening rush and be home in time to eat dinner and catch the Sports Center highlights, but it seemed things werenât boding well for him tonight when he exited the facility to find two cars had blocked in his truck between the curb and the street. âSeriously?â He sighed, allowing the dufflebag to drop from his shoulder onto the pavement. âWhat is wrong with some people?â His hair was disheveled, still damp from working out, as he ran a hand through it in frustration and mulled over the options which didnât involve getting his tow bars and moving the car himself.
Sky tilted her head to the side as she watched the man go off. Her lips quirked into a smile, connecting his anger to the cars around the one he seemed to own. âLooks like youâre shit out of luck, buddy.â Her shoulders lifted in a half shrug, the smile on her lips a teasing one. âIâd wish you good luck finding the owners butâŚâ She trailed off glancing around the street at the different venues surrounding them. âTodayâs really not your lucky day, huh?â Â
âSo this kid has written in their homework essay that Ahabâs obsession with finding the whale in literary classic âMoby Dickâ is because he âneeds to get laidâ. How do I even go about marking that?â She sighed deeply. âYou know finding homoerotic subtexts in texts is actually pretty astute, maybe itâs an automatic âAâ, what do you think?â
âThe real question here is, why didnât I have a teacher like you while I was in high school?â Skylar sighed, of course sheâd gotten the teachers that were not even remotely as cool. âIâd say give them an A, but Iâm not a teacher so I donât know how youâd go about that.â

âNot to be a total hick or anything but the barbecue around here is a fucking joke.â Elijah gave a look of disgust and shook his head. âItâs all, like, vegan low-fat tofu bullshit. If there isnât a slight chance youâll have a heart attack, it isnât proper barbecue. Iâm excited to not be living in a red state anymore, but my god, at what cost.â
âI didnât know barbecue snobs were actually a thing.â Skylar snorted. âReally, though, it isnât impossible to find a place thatâll have what youâre looking for.â

â Sneaking into a movie? You rebel. â The off duty paramedic couldnât help the smug look that graced his features upon the musings of the woman befalling his ears. â I most certainly am judging you. Thatâs newbie talk. â Stepping to her side, though maintaining the distance between them, a soft chortle fell from parted lips. â You can do much better. â
Skylar couldnât help the roll of her eyes if she tried. Though, a spark of interest shone in them when he teased her. âJust because youâre old doesnât mean Iâm a newbie.â She rose an eyebrow at him, arms crossed over her chest. âWhat are you suggesting though?â She wasnât interested, actually, she was, but she could pretend that was not the case when there was a certain nonchalance to her voice.
A day off from working one of the many odd jobs heâd managed to acquire was not something Samuel was often afforded but, when he was, he preferred to lay low and do something that he really loved; absolutely nothing. He was sat in a corner booth at The Dubliner, sipping his beer in silence, when someone took the seat across from him. He arched a brow and set his glass down on the wooden tabletop, obviously annoyed by the disturbance that had interrupted his plans of doing nothing.
âYou need something?â
âIf I were you, Iâd scram, someoneâs in a pissy mood.â Skylar told the other person as she approached his table. A shrug was given in his direction while she waited for the girl to be gone before taking a seat across her neighbor. âDid someone piss on your beer or is this you being the usual towards girls that want to hop on you?â
scott-ripley:
Once she caught up with him, Scott smirked and glanced around to see what movies were playing. âIf youâre up for a scary movie we can stick to that IT one.â He suggested with a raised eyebrow.
âI hope you donât end up screaming through the whole movie if youâre picking that one.â Not that it wouldnât entertain her, but sheâd have a field trip teasing him about it once they were out of it. âBecause Iâm up and if you yell, Iâm recording you.â
avrielsutton:
Avi listened to her talk, not bothered by what he perceived as aggression in her tone. âCouldnât agree more,â he said. He, after all, was the type of person to ride a motorcycle without a helmet. Life was better with a little danger, in his opinion. Hearing her threaten him only made him smile back. âIâd be honoured,â he said. âAll the better for my wallet, right? And whatâs the name of my new partner in crime, hm?â
Sky took a quick glance around them, at the people in line, the ushers looking bored and ready to take out running the moment their shifts were over and finally let her gaze return to his face. âI will tell you my name if we make it safely inside, if not, it will remain a mystery, unless someone else reveals it before I get the chance to do so, deal?â

Theo just smirked. He used to be a regular attendee of the movie theatre when he was a teen and he had never once paid for a ticket. He liked to think that getting in for free was one of his specialities by now. âJudging you? Babe, Iâm encouraging you. I say you do it â câmon.â He nodded towards a particularly large group that were milling around as they waited for the last of their group to pay, he then slipped into the mass of bodies and pulled her with him.
âThis town needs more people like you and less of those who are scared of getting into shit.â Skylar pointed out as she followed him. The group was large enough that the ushers werenât really keeping track of how many there were compared to the amount of tickets they got, and as they made it safely inside, Sky couldnât help the grin on her lips. âRemind me to invite you to the movies more often, uh, whatâs your name again?â
alexambrosias:
âYou know Iâm always down to do stupid shit with you, and thereâs nothing more that I enjoy than watching you come up with âfoolproofâ plans and get caught, butâŚâ He sighed, his eyes darting towards the line at the ticketing booth before moving to look back to his friend. He used to be way more fun, he thought, before he got older and somehow had a burden of responsibilities pressing upon him and a close surveillance from his parentsâ hawks. He wished that didnât have to change. And maybe it shouldnât. âScrew it, Iâm in.â
Skylarâs arms were crossed over her chest as he rambled on. It all sounded like excuses to her, and he knew this too, by the look on his face. She didnât care how filthy rich he was, Alex used to not be afraid of anything, but then again, he did go through some rough shit. âLook at you, making me proud and all,â She smirked once he gave up. âYou wanna go ahead and take the lead or shall I show you how itâs done?â
