Avi pressed his lips together very firmly to avoid snapping at Eliās initial response. But Eli was smiling, so he couldnāt very well be upset about it. Besides, Eli had a nice smileāāwas that so weird to think? Avi didnāt think so.Ā āMakes me wonder how manyĀ āguitar teachersā youāve hired so far,ā he said with a smile, easing back into a place of semi-comfort. But Avi didnāt want to overstay his welcome.Ā āYouāre alright, Eli,ā he said.Ā āAnd now itās your turn to be flattered,ā he added, making it clear that his compliment was a rarity. He took a step back, thinking it was probably time to go, before things got too chummy.Ā āIf you ever need another āguitar lessonāā¦ā he made air quotes with one hand,Ā āā¦then you have my number.ā
Eli just shrugged at his question with a mischievous smirk on his face. The actual answer was zero, but it was more fun this way. His smile turned softer and more genuine at Aviās comment, it was becoming increasingly clear to him that Avi really was a sweet guy that just had trouble expressing himself, at least when it came to things that made him feel vulnerable. Eli understood that. He resisted the urge to sarcastically ask Avi if he was asking him on a date, he just nodded, his smirk returning as he said,Ā āSee you then.ā
