"Heritage" doesn't seem to be a word that resonates with the Air Force but I got to be a little piece of history today. Really I mean my husband, Drew, did. He drops bombs, and the very last M117 in the inventory was dropped from his B-52...on the birthday of the 20th Bomb Squadron, to which he is assigned. And because he knows how much I love planes, air domination and things that go boom, well, he made sure I got to be part of it too.

You know, pilots just can't help but show off our birds. F-18s don't require much bragging though; get close and your heart will start to race thinking of the thrill of the ride. Don't get me wrong, my herc makes sure I get what I want low and dirty... But Hornet drivers sure can make a case for hard and fast.

Welcome to high altitude. If you wonder whether HALO drops are as cool as they make it out to be in the movies... it is. And it takes a special kind to hurl headlong to the ground from such dizzying heights. I've got the stick, boys, don't let the ramp hit you in the ass on your way out!
