Did a thing, check it out. My ffirst time doing anything like that at all! I think it turned out to be pretty good. Though the quality of the animated parts is BAD but that's just how life is i suppose? I swear they were in good resolution when i was drawing

the text dump comes both in:

- FULL GAME, which is every line of text in the game in one easily-searchable document, WITHOUT the surrounding code that denotes changes in font size/color/other effects. this one has been heavily edited by me for readability.

- MAP BY MAP, a file for every map (generally, each distinct "scene" or location, though not every background change is a new map), which includes the code that denotes text effects. i have not edited these files.

NOTES ON HOW TO READ THESE DOCUMENTS:

choices in dialogue are shown like the following image in the full game document (in the map-by-map documents, they are each labeled "choice"). branching paths are presented in the way they are in the files, so for many you'll have to intuit where a response to each dialogue option starts. don't worry, it's usually pretty easy.

in the full game document, due to the way their text exports, the narrator does not have line breaks. you'll have to use context clues to determine when they're talking- usually, they say things after gingi does, and all of gingi's dialogue is surrounded by quotation marks, so you can see where the narrator's dialogue begins and ends fairly easily. an example of a gingi-narrator conversation:

pronoun weirdness. due to the way the text is exported, gingi is always referred to with he/him in this document (and referred to as "phonegingi")- even when that doesn't actually make sense grammatically. additionally, the different variations of lines for different pronouns (ie "he says" and "they say" needing two different lines for says/say) and different gendered nouns go right after one another, such as right here:

ingame, this would just be one line that is dependent on your pronoun/gendered noun choices.

similarly, some lines don't have 3 different versions but instead a single variable (named "man/woman/goblin") that changes. every instance of this variable (no matter what it's used for, iirc there's a couple instances where it shows up in other unrelated contexts) is replaced with "man/woman/goblin", since that's the name of the variable itself

the map-by-map files include all of the rpg maker text effects. there's a lot, but for a quick rundown: \{ and \} enlarge and shrink text, \fi and \fb italicize and bold, \c[#] colors text to the color associated with the number used, and \fn changes the font.

copied all of dialtown's files into a new rpg maker mv project then used the text extractor plugin to rip all the text, once in individual maps and once as the whole game.

the individual map files don't need editing because they come out perfectly readable, they're in the drive as they got spat out. the all-map file though gets spat out like THIS:
