Happy National Skunk Day 🦨
National Skunk Day is celebrated on June 14th and emphasizes the important role that skunks serve in their ecosystem!
Have a Great Day 😄
My girlfriend and I were on a date at the aquarium and they had this little cutie. Don't ask why they keep the ambassador animals at the aquarium because I really don't know.
Evening visitors. Mama and her two kits. ❤️
[Image ID: two gifs of a mother skunk and two baby skunk kits scurrying through a garden. They pass a wooden deck chair and run under a bush. In the background trees and a river can be seen.]

SKUNK
Rating: ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
Nocturnal omnivorous mammal known for distinctive black and white warning coloration, and of course, and powerful defensive spray. Spray can reach several feet with surprising accuracy and is produced by specialized scent glands! Usually prefers warning displays like stomping feet, raising tail, or hissing before spraying. Polite enough to warn you first! Please respect this. Excellent diggers with strong claws used to search for insects and grubs. Friend shaped chemical weapon…

🦨 The quadrupeds of North America. v.1. New York, V.G. Audubon, 1851-54. Original source Image description: Illustration of three common American skunks (Mephitis mephitis) around a hollow log in a natural setting. One adult skunk stands on the log with its bushy tail raised high, displaying distinctive black fur with white stripes along its back and head. Below the log, two younger skunks are depicted; one lying on its side, the other playing or moving close together. The skunks feature sharp claws, pointed snouts, and typical black-and-white contrasting patterns. The background includes grass and faint trees, emphasizing their woodland habitat. The image is a detailed 19th-century lithograph from Audubon’s “The quadrupeds of North America,” showing the skunks in lifelike poses and textures.
