— classic:    reading your favourite books out loud to each other, blooming red roses, neat notebook full of thoughts and ideas, small unexpected gifts, midday cafe dates, walking under a shared umbrella in the rain, delicate milk chocolate, earl grey and green tea, reading quietly on park benches, plaid patterns

hey, vodka again with another fantasy oc because i cannot stop. hacyon is a lonely elven scholar who lives in the spire atop a great library. his idea of a good night is reading an old book in the bay window... huh? the markings on his face? it’s just from practicing blood magic? whattaya mean that’s taboo? i'm sure he has his reasons ! (:

resides in byrania, a ‘neutral’ state between nafelar and vysh. byrania is settled between the valley of mountains. byrania heavily favours nafelar, despite its official ‘neutral’ status within the kingdom.

byrania is under the protection of nafelar, or so it seems, as vysh has wanted to occupy byrania for centuries due to its tactical height advantage. byrania has no military, so is frequently occupied by nafelarian knights. they use its shared border with vysh to keep an eye on them.

hacyon lives in the great library of byrania, in the capital town called numsa. the great library can be seen from miles away, due to its spire.

he lives alone, as a solitary scholar, binding and writing books that tell the tales of nafelar. the library is open to all, but visitors are not permitted to enter the spire.

his personal work is a compendium of beasts; he will research a creature, put together a field drawing and a description of its nature. he has been compiling this book for over half a century. 

his past is fogged with plague, loss, and grief ― his interest in blood magic started with this. whilst he cannot resurrect the dead like a necromancer can, he uses blood magic to transfer ‘life’. the first party in this ritual always dies. 

blood magic is a taboo. it is not outlawed, but the markings on his face are testament to his practices; the wise will recognise these markings. despite his shy and bookish appearance, his markings allude to his true inclinations.
