Still trying to deduce favorite scenes, but as a whole your fic achieves something many AU fics in a similar vein struggle with; changing the whole world while keeping everyone in character

The Scrybes being recast as lovably cantankerous grandparents is promising on its own, but your takes on them still feels in-character for them! Leshy is still an overly poetic storyteller with a quiet menace to him, but you recontextualized his canon "I'm in it for the love of the game" to the kind of whimsical artistry a grandpa would have. Magnificus' flamboyant artistry is retained as a sort of midlife crisis but also unrepentant personal style. Poe's cold and detached exterior is humanized with him not being diabolical at heart, just not good with most people. And Grimora is still the most emotionally wise of them all and while a caring grandma, she still retains her quiet ruthlessness

Honestly, my imagination is making me envision these 4 reenacting assorted scenes of my favorite senior characters. Oscar and Emma from Corner Gas, Uncle Red from the Red And Green Show, Marty Crane from Frasier, Grunkle Stan and McGucket from Gravity Falls, etc

OFH and the retyrement AU has been a labor of love for me for years for exactly the sort of thing you've described: it's been so much fun playing with these characters and their personalities in a totally different environment and allowing them to evolve and grow without losing what makes them such fun characters to follow in the game proper; i've always really enjoyed doing human/mundane AUs for fantastical characters while taking into account what changes to the story and world would either necessitate or result from such a change, and this one's truly been the most fun premise to play with thus far :D

i feel like i say this all the time now but it makes me so happy to see folks still finding and enjoying this AU for the first time even four(!!) years into its existence :') especially when i'm still working towards doing all i want to do with the concept! hearing that these weird old folks remind you of similar contemporaries from iconic shows over the years is especially flattering ;w;
