Starting with Lean Six Sigma …
Let me start from the very start, and in this blog discuss how to go about studying and attaining a prestigious Lean Six Sigma Certification.
Lean Six Sigma Study Explained…
So What is Six Sigma, and what is Lean Six Sigma?, naturally this is the first question every beginner wants an answer to, and i want to explain in simple yet progressively more complex manner as we get deeper in this blog.
So, Lean and Six Sigma are essentially two different methodologies to improve your processes (typically “your” in here implies an Organization; however there are ways to implement/use these at an individual level as well).
Lean is methodology or a grouping of techniques pioneered by Toyota and perfected over the years by Toyota as well other industries and process groups. Lean wants you to eliminate wastages in a process and pass over maximum value to customer using low resources of your own while doing so; so we optimize time, production reduce imbalances and motivate workforce, optimize machine use, use safety first protocols, use simple techniques to achieve a bigger target building on small incremental improvements. You can learn more about what topic in lean to learn in a step wise fashion from Six Sigma Foundation
As for Six Sigma, this was a brainchild of Motorola, and is essentially a collection of statistical tools and techniques for using data analysis to get to roots of any issue and address them. In six sigma small improvement projects are done to again incrementally improve the processes of an organization. Data Analysis is at the core of it along with people with knowledge and experience to implement these projects successfully, and people with different levels of competency are distinguished by colors that correspond to different levels of expertise in this area.
The different levels range from:
Lean Six Sigma White Belt
Lean Six Sigma Yellow Belt
Lean Six Sigma Green Belt
Lean Six Sigma Black Belt
Lean Six Sigma Master Black Belt
There is much more info to be discussed, and for sure more info will be brought to you right here in this blog.
For those of you who are interested in more info and can’t wait for more entries in this blog, there is excellent information on this topic from top experts at Six Sigma Foundation via their website and even though you can only attain a six sigma certification indirectly from one of their ATIs, the info they provide is very useful. Six Sigma Foundation (SSF) is Driving Process Excellence by Creating and Promoting Open Lean Six Sigma Accreditation and Certification Standards, Guidelines for Curriculum, Training, Proctoring and Examination.
SSF Accreditation Standards are ready to meet the next level of Industry Requirements, their Bodies of Knowledge for Certification / Accreditation are comprehensive and composite in nature, the SSF guidelines and accreditation methodology for ATIs allows them to plug gaps in their teaching styles, curriculum and EVEN the examination system in a highly standardized and efficient manner. No One else has focused so much on the exam system for lean six sigma certifications till now.
