Aight I’m analyzing Carlwheeler moments yall esketit
Anne kisses Phillip/Phillip wakes up as the chorus sings “from now on, from now on, hoooooooome again” and that therefore means that she thinks of him as her home and im nOT CRYING SHUT UP
A N D can we talk about about Phillip’s immediate reaction to Anne’s being at his side? Because doesn’t say “hi” or something sweet or charming or try to crack a joke, like I expected
Why is that important you may ask? I’m glad you did. He wasn’t expecting Anne to be there with him. He probably expected to be alone, because we all know him and his parents don’t have the best relationship and ish just went down with the Oddities and PT. He didn’t want to be alone. He just expected it. Anne made it very clear that she was in love with him, and would forever, but that she couldn’t be with him in Rewrite the Stars. She wanted to, but couldn’t.
He wanted to, and was willing to try his hardest to make it work, regardless of what actually ever happened. SO THE FACT THAT SHE WAS THERE IS SO MUCH MORE EMOTIONAL BECAUSE SHE PROVED THAT SHE WAS READY TO BE WITH HIM AND TRY, AND TO TOP IT OFF WITH THE KISS AT THE HOOOOOOOOME AGAIN PART OF FROM NOW ON, SHE SURPRISED HIM AND WAS READY TO BE WITH HIM BECAUSE HE WAS HER HOME AND HE WAKES UP THEN BECAUSE SHE’S HIS HOME I’M UNSTABLE
THE FIRST TIME WE SEE ANNE IN THE HOSPITAL WITH PHILLIP FRESH OUT OF THE FIRE SHE GRASPS HIS HAND FOR DEAR LIFE AND SINGS A SAD, A CAPELLA, BROKEN VERSION OF REWRITE THE STARS. THE THING THAT’S DIFFERENT IS THAT SHE SINGS HIS VERSE, THE VERSE ABOUT BEING ABLE TO TRY TO BE TOGETHER AND BE HAPPY AND REWRITE WHAT WAS WRITTEN IN THE STARS FOR THEM. IN THE ORIGINAL SONG SHE SINGS A PESSIMISTIC VERSION ABOUT NOT BEING ABLE TO REWRITE WHAT WAS SET OUT FOR THEM. SHE’S READY YALL IT MAKES ME WANNA CRY I LOVE
aND MY BOY PHILLIP IS SO IN LOVE WITH HER GOOD LORD ARE YOU KIDDING ME HE TURNED AROUND SO QUICKLY TO TRY TO SAVE ANNE I’M FINNA SOB I LOVE MY HEROIC SON AND ANNE WAS BOUTTA STAY WITH HIM BUT IT TOOK LIKE 20 PEOPLE TO PRY HER AWAY
ok thus next one gets me e m o and that’s when everyone is at Jenny’s performance and she sings Never Enough. have you realized that at at every moment when a hand is mentioned, the camera changes to the scene of Phillip and Anne. Go watch the lyric video for it right now. Watch. Listen. Repeat. That song could have a double meaning for them though, tbh. In this scene, Phillip reaches for and holds Anne’s hand for a lil before his parents look over and see them holding hands and scare him into letting go.
“All the shine of a thousand spotlights/all the stars we steal from the night sky/will never be enough, neve be enough for me”
For Phillip, it’s his feelings about Anne. He loves her. More than life itself (which he will later demonstrate). Nothing in life, no money, no things, no nothing compares to Anne. She is everything to him, and nothing compares to her at all.
For Anne, it could be how sh feels about the idea of being with Phillip. Almost like her saying, “nothing we do, regardless of chemistry or anything will ever be enough for people to accept us being together. It will never be enough for me to know that this is a good idea for us to be together”, which makes some of the things described above even more heartwarming if this is Anne’s process of thinking.
I would like it said that I would take great joy in slitting Phillip’s parent’s throats because I hate them after what they said to Anne, and Phillip would too, tbh. He straight up cut his parents out and sacrificed his once treasured inheritance for Anne and the circus.
Also the ending of the movie,,,,,the kiss,,,,,my heart is fulfilled,,,,,,death itself gonna have to die before their love will,,,,,,
I love this boy and this girl, is the moral of the story and my TED talk
