Why Isnât Tumblr Freaking Out?!?!
Guys. Article 13 just got passed.
Article 13 just got passed.
Article 13 just got passed!!!!
Article 13 just got passed.
Article 13 just got passed.
Article 13 just got passed!
Article 13 just got passed.
Article 13 just got passed.
I donât know if Iâve said it enough. SoâŚ
ARTICLE 13 JUST GOT PASSED!!!!
I have been on tumblr all morning and havenât seen one post about it yet! I donât understand how!
ARTICLE 13 JUST GOT PASSED!!!!
It was a 438 to 226 fucking landslide vote too. (https://www.theverge.com/2018/9/12/17849868/eu-internet-copyright-reform-article-11-13-approved)
Theyâre voting on it one last time in January 2019, but thatâs barely any time to change anything!!!!
You still have time to call your MEPs so PLEASE!!! Do so.
If youâre outside of the EU, sign this petition: https://www.change.org/p/axel-voss-save-the-internet-reject-article-13-and-11?recruiter=839558037&utm_source=share_petition&utm_medium=copylink&utm_campaign=share_petition
If you donât know what this means, itâs basically then end of how the internet currently is in Europe. Memes? Nope. Youtubers? Bye!
Youâd need a license for everything!!!!
And my fellow Americans my be all like, well, whatâs the big deal for us? Itâs a Europe deal.
No, because the Youtubers there that you love so much? This effects them too! Iâm freaking out because Jack, the person who helps my depression go away, may no longer be able to do what he does!
Guys, we need to stop this somehow. Please.
Call your MEPs. Sign petitions. Protest (Peacefully please. Donât get hurt).
Iâm sorry for tagging you guys if you donât want to be or already know, I just want as many people to know as possible!
I canât tag everyone, but if you see this, please reblog it. Spread the news. Sign the petition. Call your MEPs. Do what you can to help stop this from passing in January.
I donât live in Europe but this needs to be spread
Iâm spreading this because this is greatly unsettling to me. I live in europe and really canât imagine how the future would look like.
I donât live in Europe but I signed the petition and am signal boosting for all my EU pals. Call your MEPs!
Because they still have to vote for it two more times.. maybe .. thatâs why?
All you Americans who are saying âI dont live in europe, butâŚâ You do understand how the internet *works*, right? You *WILL* feel the backlash from this if things go through the way they are going now.
this needs to be spread. article 13 will effect the world.
BOOST
Donât live in Europe but Iâm boosting anyway because this is incredibly unsettling!
Article 13
I hope you all realize this is more than just âlosing memes and fan artâ
This affects how content is shared online. Period. This is censorship. If this is implemented it opens the door to the government deciding what you can share and when.
âWeb services large and small might decide to implement the directive globally, which would diminish American usersâ capacity to share memes, political satire, or news articles online.â (Meaning due to the European law, websites might just change how they operate world wide, so the rules placed on them they will probabaly inforce in countries who donât have the law)
If this could affect Americans in this way, imagine how heavy handed it will be on those who actually live in Europe??
This is a way to control what you do, say, think and read. Itâs put under the disguise of âcopyrightâ protection, but you are a fool if you think thatâs what this really is.
Iâm sorry you enabled asks again
hey, they haven`t been that bad
oh wait
i love being U N O R I G I N A L

wow, warframe really makes me FEEL like spider-man
Article 13 has been approved by EU. Itâs worse than Net Neutrality has ever been. I donât even know if we will have any access to Tumblr, Pinterest, Ao3 or even Instagram. Memes are probably dead, just like reactions, fanfictions and gifsets. Everyone in EU is in danger that they will not have access to their favorite sites. But I havenât seen a SINGLE post about it on my dash because Americans doesnât give a damn.
The year is 2038.
There is war in Europe.
Moles are everywhere.
People who quote vines are tracked down by the government and searched thoroughly. The 78% of those people are discovered to be in illegal possession of memes.
Memes are sold and exchanged illegally in the deepest depths of the Dark Web.
There is footage of people printing memes in public libraries, setting the printers on fire and disappearing into the night, as police sirens go off in the distance. (But that footage, too, needs to be purchased from its rightful owner in order to be watched.)
People have been arrested selling those same printed memes in back alleys at roughly 4 AM.
Copyright⢠Statue is being vandalized almost daily. The government still refuses to remove it, repairing it every week.
People vandalize public walls, marking them with phrases such as âTHEN PERISHâ, âBEGONE THOTâ and âTrust nobody, not even yourselfâ.
People name their children after memes, and train them to join the Resistance.
There is war in Europe.
The internet could change next week, and not in a good way
You may have heard about the efforts in Europe to reform copyright law. The debate has been ongoing in the European Parliament for months. If approved next week, these new regulations would require us to automatically filter and block content that you upload without meaningful consideration of your right to free expression.Â
We respect the copyrights and trademarks of others, and we take all reports seriously to ensure that your creative expression is protected. We make this clear in our Community Guidelines. Thereâs already a legal framework that works and is fair: Today we take down posts and media that contain allegedly infringing content when we receive a valid DMCA (Digital Millennium Copyright Act) takedown request. We also provide clear-cut ways for people to fight back if they believe their removed content was not a true violation. These instances are monitored and reported and live in our biannual transparency report.Â
The suggestion to use automated filters for issues of copyright is short-sighted at best and harmful at worst. Automated filters are unable to determine whether a use should be considered âfair useâ under the law and are unable to determine whether a use is authorized by a license agreement. They are unable to distinguish legitimate parody, satire, or even your own personal pictures that could be matched with similar photographs that have been protected by someone else. We donât believe that technology should replace human judgment. Tumblr is and always has been a place for creative expression, and these new regulations would only make it harder for you to express yourself with the freedom and clarity you do so now.Â
If you access Tumblr from Europe and want to act, you can find more information on saveyourinternet.eu.Â

This fucking site: hey net neutrality is about to die :((( please help us :(((( boost and rb everything you see even if youâre not American :((((((((( weâll have no wifi :(((((( we need you!!!! :((((
Non-Americans: okay
Non-Americans: hey greece is basically on fire, 150 people are wounded, 53 are killed and our nature is being destroyed. weâre suspecting arson. can you please reblog some posts and help spread awareness?
This fucking site:
The internet is keeping score
Tumblr, we know youâve been fighting valiantly to restore net neutrality. Whether you added widgets to your Tumblrs, or reblogged posts to spread the word to your followers, or contacted your reps asking them to keep the internet free and open as we know itâyouâre helping. Youâre doing it. Letâs keep that momentum up.Â
BattleForTheNet.com (@fight4future) is letting Congress know that the internet is keeping score of every Congressperson who is and is not supporting the restoration of net neutrality.Â
Right now you can visit that scoreboard and easily look up whether or not your reps support the Congressional Review Act resolution.Â
This CRA will restore the net neutrality rules the FCC dismantled back in November 2017. They have 177 signatures, but need 44 more. You can help make that happen. This grassroots effort is working. Just two days ago Rep. Mike Coffman listened to his constituents from Colorado and became the first Republican to support the Democrat-led CRA. Keep putting that same pressure on your congresspeople. Urge them to sign the petition. If your congressperson has already pledged to support the CRA, reblog this post, add the new widget to your Tumblr (just copy and paste the small line of code from Battle For The Net right into the customize theme page on the web), and shout out whatâs happening on all of your social media accounts. We have to spread the word.
Keep going, Tumblr. This matters, and youâre making a marked difference.
Weâre close to defeating the final boss
In a 52-47 decision, the Senate has voted to save net neutrality.
A few things I want to tell you about Net Neutralityâs repeal.
No. Things arenât going to change the moment your clock hits midnight. It will be a slow process, small peices and such.
Not all internet providers will do these things. Some will remain loyal and keep things fair and open for their customers.
You can easily find out if your provider will do anything by simply calling them or looking up official statements online.
And just because itâs happening doesnât mean we lost. Call your state senators, or email them. Whatever works for you. Keep fighting and donât let this go silent, itâs what they want.

âKeeping the internet open is critical for us. It powers social movements, and provides a global platform for people of color, LGBTQ folks and the most marginalized communities to tell their own stories, run their own businesses and route around powerful gatekeepers.ââCandace Clement, Free Press Action Fund Campaign Director via @fight4futureâ
Starting today, June 11, U.S. internet providers will be legally allowed to censor and block websites and apps, and force you to pay extra fees to to access your favorite places online. Your internet sanctuaries, the communities you are part of, the ones you have help build up, could be decimated.
Will it happen today? No. Next week? Probably not. The changes will not be swift. They will come piece by piece. A slow, tempered death to the free and open internet we love.
It doesnât have to be this way. You can still make a difference, Tumblr. We need the House of Representatives to sign a discharge petition in support of the Congressional Review Act that would force a vote on the floor.
Contact your repsâlet them know you support net neutrality.
Itâs so easy. Just go to BattleForTheNet.com, fill out the form, and follow their directions from there.
They have an updated widget for you to throw on your websites to urge others to make a difference. You can put it on your Tumblr. Let your followers know what you stand for, encourage them to do the same. Itâs so easy to do. Just copy and paste their small line of code right into the customize theme page on the web.
Go, go, go, go. We know you have that passion in you. Weâre fighting right alongside you.
NET NEUTRALITY UPDATE. STOP SCROLLING, PLEASE!
As you all know, we won the Senate CRA vote! Hereâs the issue. Our battle is an uphill one.
The net neutrality repeal goes into effect June 11th, because there has not yet been a vote in the House of Representatives. That vote is coming soonâbut the HOR is harder to win.
This means: USE THE BACKLASH. Take the opportunity to inform family and friends about what the repeal will do. Theyâll hate it no matter the partyânobody likes paying extra. This will assist. VISIT BATTLEFORTHEWEB! EDUCATE YOURSELF ON WHAT YOU CAN DO!
CALL YOUR REPRESENTATIVES, FOLKS. SAVE THE OPEN WEB ONCE AND FOR ALL!
