okay reading this chapter just made my projection of my favorite band the Civil Wars onto Wilehopps go absolutely insane so i have some song recs that i think apply super well to this fic in particular. They were a guy/girl duo band that wrote the most beautifully romantic music together, but they were doomed to be hopelessly platonic (pun intended) because they were with other people :( But the tension was insane between them and SO applicable to this fic in ways that I struggle to actually write for my fics.

Ohhhhh, Sour Times, I didn’t know that one, but I LOVE it!!!! It has that film noir, James Bond, detective movie vibe that fits them so well. And the lyrics?? Ugh. Perfect.

And Civil Wars, of course I know them! I had a whole phase where I was obsessed with them. I don’t think I had considered their songs for this fic before, but they definitely fit this story so well 😭

Their story lowkey makes me think about The Marías too. The lead singer and the guitarist dated, wrote this gorgeous/tragic/romantic songs together, and then just stayed friends and in the same band???

I’m sorry but that actually messes with me. That’s emotionally unwell behavior in the most poetic way possible.
