you know if you think about it Kaiba is the reason the series is the way it is. yugi didn't have any particular connection to Duel Monsters in the series until the one-off chapter with Kaiba. and his autism was so powerful that it not only essentially warped the entire world around his special interest but created a centuries spanning universal obsession with his favorite card game
anyway i guess moral of the story is, believe in the power of autism

something very beautiful about how introductory Cards With Teeth Kaiba spends so much time pretending to be nice and polite and smiley and the actual semi-redeemed Kaiba we get to know later is a blunt unpleasant jackass. i like that less evil Kaiba is a noticeably more difficult to get along with Kaiba, and the narrative rejection of "good = niceness, social skills" that implies. sometimes getting the evil banished from your heart involves becoming more of a bitch. guy who stopped masking

It's been fun reimagining pieces of art I've done with Ameniwa's pixel art converter (no a//i used in the converter.) This is the one I did for the Like a Bruise tendershipping zine based on the 2015 movie The Witch.

Another pixel reimagining of fan art I've done! this is the one where I started to begin seeing that I had a unique style. It also changed (for the better) how I drew eyes. I drew all my life and even have a degree in art, but I fell off the wagon of 2D drawing for a decade after art school. The school knocked the wind out of me, then I had someone very close to me who actively discouraged me. I never learned digital art, so I started making the very painful journey up the learning curve around 2021. It's been encouraging to re-share my art this way!
