You had a change of heart and decided to see your estranged father after cutting him off years ago. Your mom was so accepting while your dad, not so much. He couldn’t imagine seeing you in drag, much less since you looked like him. In your mind, you wanted to end this chapter, show him the woman you’ve become, and move on with your life. What you didn’t expect, however, was his immediate reaction upon seeing you in the front door. “Hi dad, it’s me, your- well, I was, your son. I’m your daughter now.” He didn’t think you would look more like your mom as a trans girl, but you wanted to surprise him. As soon as he mentioned that, he couldn’t help, but hug you.
“You know, I was against the idea of having a daughter at first. But after seeing how you turned out, I’m just glad I don’t have a son anymore. Never wanted one anyways.” As everyone in the room laughs at his bad dad joke, you can’t help, but also chuckle a bit. He’s still the same, but something about him also changed for the better. You don’t expect to be daddy’s girl, but you’re glad that those daddy issues will be a thing of the past now. Maybe this is the start of a new chapter.
This caption is a shout out to all of those fathers, would-be fathers, and father figures that accept and treat us like the actual human beings and daughters we are. This isn’t for the daddies who only look for us for pleasure. This is for those who are there for us in good and bad, even to the point where they tell us what is best for us.
