Okay so i don’t understand all the hate to my boy Mal, i mean yeah he was an ass in the second book, but atleast he didn’t threaten to skin Alina alive so 🤷🏼‍♀️... but in all seriousness, yeah he isn’t my favorite, but I kind of think his actions were totally accurate as a f*ckboy of 18 years that suddenly realizes that there are higher stakes on the line and his friend (that he took for granted all those years) was a mayor player in all of this. And I think that Leigh was able to write perfectly how that conflict can affect a young (and little plain) man. Also, his character development in the third book is *cheff kiss* and what ultimately made me root for him and Alina to end up together, but you all were too busy lusting for the darkling to see it (and honestly I can’t blame you, I almost fell for him too). Finally, it is worth mentioning that if there is one thing that Alina is consistent in all three books was on her love for Mal, and if that’s what the girl wants (even if Nikolai is RIGHT THERE PROPOSING) I think it’s okay to respect that. At the end of the day all Alina wanted was a simple life with her first friend and lover, and after everything she went through, I say the girl deserves it, lets give her a break.
