This is for the people who suffer
For the ones who have suffered abuse and neglect
From those they believed they could trust
Or from strangers they have only just met
For those who seem to fall in love all too easily
Or for those who are too afraid to love
For the ones who have had their hearts broken
And for the ones who have broken hearts as well
This is for those who suffer from an addiction
To the ones who seem to ignore the conviction
That lays heavy on their heart because they're use to the afflictions
They go through, and for those who walk around as a living contradiction
They seem alive but they're dead on the inside, and it shows
For the ones who seek the highs to escape the lows
For the ones who are so young, yet look so old
And from rehab to the streets they go, to-and-fro
This is for the wallflowers and the ones who get bullied
Who skip school so they don’t hear the echoes and taunts of laughter in the hall
For all the kids who feel they go unnoticed
That dreams for their voice to be heard, but are constantly silenced
This is for the kids who wear long sleeve shirts, so abuse won’t show
And who always has an excuse on hold
For the constant hospital visits
That’s the second time this month; yet they still go unnoticed
This is for the ones who cut themselves to make the pain go away
For the ones who push others away, but secretly hope they’ll stay
For the ones who feel words such as love, and trust are unattainable
But attainable to everyone besides them
Because their whole life they have experienced pain and loss
Now lost in a world where they would rather feel nothing
Then be burdened by the pain they have experienced their whole lives
For when you’ve been continuously let down, despair is safer to feel than hope
I wrote this for the ones who feel alone
Who feels the world doesn’t understand them, I understand you
I understand that as you close your eyes, and you look to the sky
And dream about the days to come and the days gone by
That you wish you could fly
To a place you feel you belong
To a place you feel happiness
For the ones who build a home inward
For that's the safest place they know
For the ones who are afraid to be young
And for the ones who are afraid to grow
For the ones who feel their life is meaningless
Every sheep they would count
Is replaced by a tear drop
For the ones that dance to their own tune
For every person rich or poor
For the ones with gold and silver spoons
And the ones with concrete floors
For the criminals and for those
Who never seem to break the rules
For the ones who never take risk
And for the greater fools
No matter how much you believe you do not fit in
Or whatever label society has given you
And while not any of us on this earth is the same
That is what makes each of us independently beautiful
So the next time you feel different
Or that you do not belong, I want you to remember
That you are more than a name
You are more than your failures or your successes
You are more than your pain
You are more than your obsessions
You are more than your needs
You are more than your possessions
Even though it may get rough, and times may be hard
You are more you are more
You are more than you think you are
