They’ve started to make lefty violins. This is merely a ploy to make money off of uneducated parents trying to do the best for their kids. People who are right-handed and left-handed both hold and play the violin the same way, especially if they ever want to play in a group (bows are supposed to move the same in a section, not opposite). The instrument does not favor either; the instrument requires the player to mimic ambidexterity. Left-handed players will have better vibrato while right-handed players will have better attack and tremolo. Music requires perfection of all techniques no matter which hand is dominant, so all natural advantages are moot because you have to surpass them anyway. Do not buy your kid a lefty violin if they ever want to join an orchestra.
