Fear
I once jumped at frogs Cringed at hermit crabs Cried at the thought of holding those little freaking crawly things on the beach It doesn't scare me anymore I feel solid in the face of miniature crawlies I feel braver than ever before I could pick up that worm That (Gardner) snake I feel like a little boy left to play in the forest These things excite me, No longer out of fear, but invention and possibility
Now love scares me Opening up to lovers is my kryptonite Sincerity in the face of romance makes me shrink A sure symptom of brokenness Of pain I wish I still feared baby crabs instead.
