             Sympathy tugs at heart strings that became entwined long              ago. It is akin to a maternal instinct, and it was compelling              her hand to reach out and attempt comfort. Slender fingers              wrap around the other's shoulder momentarily. Seeing him              stress over something out of the bounds of control made              the ghoul investigator concerned. Hand retracts away from              taut joints and muscles to rest on her hip. While it wasn't              possible to help him with his predicament, it was oft her              duty to, at the bare minimum, present him adequate advice.

               HER HANDS PRESSED                against the glass window that separated her                from the sapphire jeweled necklace that was                glistening brilliantly under the shining lights.                She didn’t exactly … need it, if anything, it                would get in the way but they did a good job                of attracting her towards it.

             It was a rare sight to see the ghoul investigator in the shop              districts, abundant in heavy consumerism and obnoxious              advertisements to swindle money from an unsuspecting              individual. Unfortunately, she had a cat to feed, and could              not simply neglect its need for sustenance. And so with a              plastic bag of gourmet cat food (her cat was a queen, after              all), she was making her way home when her pink hues              caught a glimpse of light reflecting off a jewelers window.

             She wasn't alone in her envious gaze. A sigh before she              tears her gaze away from a valuable she'd never indulge              in for herself in the first place. There was a silent moment              of passing before she chooses to speak up, a pale digit               tracing patterns on the transparent glass.

        It’s a  {t h a n k l e s s}  job,

                       but someone has to do it.

             A tilt to her head as she searches for any visual cues of the              possibility of a lie. No nervous behavior, he certainly wasn't              perspiring heavily, and his gaze fell straight upon her's. So              he was telling the truth, at least. Give credit where it's due.
