The musical project that is Pink Mercury has a few rules of play: 1) Nothing is pre-planned. 2) "Yes/And" rules (never contradict what another player offers - as in improv comedy). 3) Rock/pop chord progressions. Lyrics are either syllabic improvisations or stories/phrases made up in the moment. This style of singing has given me great freedom to surf in each present moment, during a time in my life when my worldview is evolving more quickly than the timeline of album production can seem to pin down. Here, Elizabeth Fraser of @cocteau.twins calls me out on another reason for singing made-up words: to cover up not knowing what to say. There's surely both freedom and hiding in my performances. https://www.instagram.com/p/Bz6unxyB00H/?igshid=1hyniusv9jnn6
