Lines in Motion

The one of labrum squirming because of a spider amuses me. He's not a fan.

It’s been a while since I posted on tumblr.  I keep up on twitter but even then I kind of like to stay back from social media.

It’s kind of fun uploading these three together though because I’m trying to figure out a coloring style that makes me happy.  With Lantern Carrier Seika at the bottom I was still going with mostly painterly.

The guy in the middle is one of my void guys I need to introduce later.  His name is Dikova and this is his “not dog” form.  Everyone calls him a dog to annoy him.  With these four I was kind of messing around with what I liked best and I ended up liking the last running one the best.

Lots of gifs, the planters were uploaded to twitter a while back.  One of my best friends got me a subscription to succulents for a couple months for my birthday.  The moonstone and string of pearls were my first two.

I realized that I never really got Seika’s anatomy down fully or her clothing.  Seika is a space captain when she isn’t with her girlfriend later wife or trying to keep Trevini from doing something crazy.  She was a space captain before meeting anyone she currently spends her time with.

Been a while since I’ve done a picture of Mirror Sphinx Trevini in color. So here she is with her holy dragon self.

I wanted Trevini’s holy dragon form and her mirror sphinx form to mirror each other in body shape and some attributes like the hooves.  Holy dragons have dragon in their name but they don’t resemble your typical dragon.  I have a back story on them for later.

They’re both giant and Trevini loses a bit of control when she turns into either form but luckily for everyone she’s calm in them after she gets rid of a threat.  But getting her to turn back to a demi human, or demi mirror, is harder.

I was tossing ideas around for what I wanted Trevini’s holy dragon form to look like and all I had in mind was something deer like.  Trevini, obviously, doesn’t meet herself, it’s just her in two different forms in sketche I had fun with.

Ouybateau is an oni that is ocean based and mostly uses water as his base ability.  He lost his eye and one of his horns when he was younger in a fight with another oni but hasn’t let that keep him down.

Oni with broken horns or missing eyes are known to have a “broken mask”.  Oni, at their own will or before dying can turn into masks which houses their power.  They either intrust their mask to someone or leave it out for people to find.  Good oni will work with you while others will take over your mind and body.  Ouybateau is still alive but I wanted to draw out what his broken mask would look like.

He’s a lantern carrier and has been for a long time but only currently has he decided to go out into the world and become a mentor.

I decided to go with working on a model sheet for him because it helped me figure out what I wanted him to look like.  He might change in the next sketches who knows, but this really did help me figure out his face since human based designs are harder for me.
