The wind fills the night with mournful sighs,

I gaze upon twinkling stars.

Wondering if you’reseeing the same moon that I am,

I knew that there would someday come a time,

When you and I would be parted.

I imagined that day; we would be old and grey,

Not like this, when my life has barely started.

It is funny how memories become so very clear,

When people dearest to us are no longer here.

It is funny how a picture can mean so very much,

When just yesterday, you were here beside me,

To hold and to touch.

Do you remember at bedtime, the stories you told?

The ones about magic, about heroes, about gold?

Do you remember the kisses and hugs that you gave me?

And your promise that we would be together,

Forever and always.

I remember the mud pies that together we made.

I remember your excitement when I got a good grade.

I remember the birthdays, and the cakes that you bought.

I remember your…everything, and the comfort that you brought.

If I could see you, just one last time,

Here is what I would say.

I love you and miss you and hope that you’re happy.

And I wish more that anything that you would just stay.

I wish I treasured you as much I do now.

I pray that you only knew.

How much I wish that our forever and always,

Could some day come true.

Life is like a bubble,

You never know when it will disappear.

A bubble exists for only a moment,
