Racoon City – Sewerage / Proximity to the Umbrella laboratory 09/30/1998 | 02:37
It didn’t know how much time had passed since it escaped. Any concept of time it may have known was gone, lost together with any knowledge of who or what it had been before waking up in the facility. There were no memories left to guide it, no names, no faces, nothing it could hold on to. Only instinct remained. A dangerous instinct, sharpened and guided by an intelligence that was by no means to be underestimated.
The only thought the creature ever had had been to escape the place it had been locked in, because it screamed of danger, death, and not being safe. Something deep within it had recognized the threat without needing to understand it, reacting to it long before any conscious thought could have formed.
And when the cell it was in got unlocked, it didn’t hesitate and fled. It hadn’t looked back once, driven forward by that same instinct that refused to let it stay.
The escape had been exhausting, far more than its body had expected, and it needed to hide constantly from its pursuers. They had been everywhere, searching, hunting. Therefore, the process of finding a safe place and hopefully a potential host went very slow, interrupted again and again by the need to disappear into shadows and wait.
Time had passed and when it finally reached a more populated area, the dead had already risen, limiting its chance of finding what it needed. It searched and found a still living human in a building. Unfortunately, when it got closer, it could already smell and feel the growing infection in the body. The scent was wrong, tainted, already claimed.
There were a few others, but neither of them was what the creature wanted. They smelled of weakness, of wrongness, despite not being infected at the time. Their bodies were flawed, unstable. However, the creature knew they wouldn’t last long and therefore were unsuitable for what it intended to do. It didn’t question how it knew. It simply did.
And it hadn’t been wrong. One after one the living fell victim to the dead. The sounds of struggle faded quickly, replaced by silence and decay. And the creature decided to move on to search somewhere else.
It left the building after deeming it a dead end and returned to its safe place underground for some much needed rest. Down there it was quiet, hidden, away from the chaos above.
It startled out from its slumber, awoken by a roar and someone screaming. The sound tore through the tunnels and echoed off the damp walls. It didn’t move at first, just listening. It knew of the predator roaming the area, hunting for any prey that would cross its path, except for the creature that, even if not big, was more deadly.
The predator was still hunting its prey. Which was… unusual. It shouldn’t have taken long to capture and eat whatever found its way down here, and yet, the creature could still hear the splashing of water and feel the tremors shaking the ground beneath it.
Interesting.
It continued to listen, unmoving, focused. After a short moment a loud boom echoed through the sewers, followed by silence that felt almost heavy. But then it heard water splashing once more. And not only that. There were also noises that sounded like those that humans made when communicating. Voices. Which meant there were humans down here. Living humans. And at least one of them had just managed to survive and kill the huge predator that hunted them.
Now truly curious, it left its hiding spot.
It didn’t take long to find the place the noises came from. At first it saw only one person. A female, when it remembered correctly. Then another appeared, climbing up a construct that led from the water up to the platform the female stood on.
This person was seemingly a male. And from the looks the one who just managed to kill a predator tenth his size. Which was… impressive. And very, very promising.
Something stirred within it that caused a feeling of excitement to bubble up in its mind. Excitement and the primal need to hunt the specimen down. Still, it managed to hold back. Not because it couldn’t overwhelm those two humans, but because it wanted to observe a little more first. To be sure.
It followed quietly, keeping to the shadows, its movements almost soundless. It couldn’t tell what they were talking about, and it wasn’t in any kind interested to know. What it knew was that it didn’t like that female. There was something in her tone, in the kind she walked, that made the creature want to snarl at her. It somehow reminded it of those humans in the facility, all mighty and thinking they stood above it. And yet they had no idea. Had no idea what they have created.
The two humans stopped, and so did the creature. There was a third voice, from the sound another female. The humans exchanged some words, tension rising in their voices, then out of the sudden they started to run and disappeared from the creature’s view. It quickly followed, slipping through the tunnels after them.
It heard some loud rapid noises and when it turned the last corner it just saw the male jumping forward and taking down the first female.
It didn’t truly understand what just happened, but it could tell whatever it was, the male got hurt. It could smell the blood in the air. And, oh, it smelled really good. Sweet and without any hints of infection, not like the other human it had seen in the building above.
The scent was intoxicating. The need grew with every second, pulsing through its body, demanding action.
Still, the creature didn’t move, not until the female human stood and vanished, leaving the male behind.
When it was sure the human was gone, it slowly and carefully approached the body leaning against the wall.
The male was still alive, but unresponsive. The creature carefully nudged one of his feet and waited for any reaction before repeating the gesture against his arm. But nothing happened.
The human seemed completely out. Not dying, but deeply asleep with no sign of waking up soon.
Perfect.
First it threw the weird fabric away the female human had covered the male with. Next it removed the weird armor around the torso without destroying it, one because it had seen how, and secondly because it was some kind of protection. Not a good one, as it was proven just some mere moments ago, but it covered the most important part of the body and was better than nothing.
When the armor was gone, it carefully moved the body, so it was lying flat on the ground. It adjusted the position with surprising precision, almost careful, almost gentle.
From there everything that followed was just instinct.
Tentacles grew from its back, slowly wandering around the body beneath to make sure it wouldn’t move during conception. They moved with purpose, firm yet controlled, securing the limbs without causing unnecessary damage.
More tentacles grew from the tips of its fingers, thinner, more delicate. They slipped beneath the fabric that covered the spot it needed to be free, carefully lifting it up and out of the way without tearing it. Then the creature leaned forward, positioning its own naked lower torso above the other, aligning itself with unsettling precision.
Several more tentacles grew then and connected with the skin below, forming a circle around the small locked hole in the middle. They anchored themselves firmly before starting to pump a substance inside the body that would numb the entire area around and beneath it, ensuring minimal resistance.
When that was done, another tentacle emerged, this one with a sharp tip at its end. Slowly and carefully, it moved down and broke through the knotted skin in the hole. The movement was deliberate, almost cautious, as if guided by something far beyond simple instinct.
It could feel the body below twitching due to the forceful invasion, muscles reacting despite the numbing agent, but it had no chance to escape it. Beneath the skin the tentacle moved, roaming through the area in search of the perfect place to prepare for conception. It adjusted again and again, refining its position until everything aligned exactly as needed.
You would think finding a female for breeding would have been easier, because they have the right parts, but the creature knew it wouldn’t work. Knew on an instinctive level it wasn’t what it needed.
No, the egg its body had created after rejecting the other needed something else. Something only a male could provide.
For that purpose, another tentacle had grown from between its legs. Due to some sensitive receptors, it had sniffed out the male’s reproductive organ that was also covered by another kind of fabric.
Finger tentacles were quick to remove that as well, more precise now, almost practiced, and as soon as the soft flesh was freed the bigger tentacle latched on to it. Opening a path on the tip and swallowing the soft organ until nothing of it could be seen anymore, sealing around it completely.
It was pure instinct when the tentacle started to massage the swallowed organ, clenching and unclenching around it, first soft and slow, then faster and more intense as it reacted to the stimulation, growing harder with each motion. The movements became more deliberate, more demanding, guided by something deep within the creature that knew exactly what it needed to achieve.
The moment the hard organ twitched and released into the waiting passage that would swallow the offered seed and direct it to the egg waiting, the creature simultaneously tensed and shuddered. Pumping its own hot liquid through the other thick tentacle into the body beneath. A liquid that would slightly harden and become the safety space for the egg. A place where it would grow and become the first of a new species. A queen.
More liquid was pumped into the body even if the other had no seed to spend anymore. From the outside you could see the exposed part of the tentacle extending and clenching, see how the color changed from a bright red to a darker one with each motion, pulsing with each contraction.
The body beneath twitched and tensed, reacting on instinct, but didn’t move at all, completely pinned into place.
The creature observed closely the face of the male, focusing on any signs that may indicate him waking up. It had thought for a moment he might when the thicker tentacle breached the skin or when his reproductive organ was put into use, but except for slightly grimacing or gasping nothing happened.
Of course, the creature had ways to keep the male under. And that was by letting slip one of its finger tentacles into the mouth and producing a secretion that worked like an anesthesia. However, it was currently not necessary, so it refrained from doing so, and just stuck to caressing the smooth skin around the neck and playing with the soft hair, almost absentmindedly.
A little time later, it pumped one last spurt of liquid and waited for a moment to let it solid. When that was done, it came to the most dangerous part. Planting the now fertilized egg into the formed pouch and retreat without causing any damage.
For that part a much thinner, almost needle-like tentacle was inside the much thicker one. When the last spurt of liquid had been released, this much smaller one moved forward and positioned its sharp and tiny tip right into the middle of the liquid.
The creature could tell that the fertilization had been a success as soon as the egg started its way through the thinner tentacle. If it wouldn’t have been the case, then it would have started stimulating the male’s reproductive organ once more to obtain more of the valuable seed. However, it was very pleased by the knowledge that it had found a seemingly very fertile male human. Because it took only mere seconds for the extracted seed to find its way into the egg. And from there only another few seconds for the egg to begin its path toward its final destination.
Because of that, it was only another mere moment until the egg reached the end of the thin tentacle. And then, with a small, precise push, it was placed straight into the middle of the prepared breeding pouch.
The creature then started the slow process of retreat. When the thick tentacle left the body beneath with a slight pop sound, it shuddered in pleasure, knowing it was successful and had fulfilled its entire purpose.
It retracted its other tentacles and moved its head down to where now a bloody and gaping hole was left. With a soft cooing sound, it sealed the wound and licked away the blood before nuzzling the spot a little below, exactly knowing where the little egg was now lying beneath the skin.
While it caressed the spot for a while longer, it also covered back the male’s reproductive organ. In best case he would wake up and not know what just happened to him. And to increase the chances of him not finding out any time soon, it was better to remove any traces that may betray the deed having been done.
It knew he would find out someday, but by then it would be hopefully too late to remove the fetus without killing the host. Or maybe it was already too late, though it couldn’t tell. It had never witnessed another creature like itself having done this, and for it this would be the first and last time. Because now that its purpose was fulfilled, it could feel its strength slowly fading, slipping away with every passing moment.
Unfortunately, the creature had no choice but to retreat before it could put back on the black armor around the human, because he was slowly starting to wake up. Subtle at first, a shift in breathing, a faint movement beneath the skin.
However, it wasn’t very much worried about it either, because he may just assume the other female had taken it off to care for the wound on his shoulder.
It would have liked to help with it, to ensure his condition remained stable, but knew it would only cause unwanted questions. And after a short inspection it could tell the injury wasn’t severe. It would heal on its own. So, no need to do anything about it and risk being discovered.
But even if it couldn’t help with the injury, the creature could still ensure the male got out of this place as safely as possible, at least as long as its own fading strength would allow it. It would stay close, unseen, following every movement, ready to intervene if necessary.
Therefore, it retreated into the darkness and became the silent shadow that would watch over the host until it took its last breath.
Ever thought about Leon S. Kennody being the secret brother of Dante and Vergil?

---- Short excerpt of the chapter
“You know what it means if we do it, right?”
“Do we have a choice?”
“No.”
“Are you scared?”
“Tsk. Of course not.”
“We may have to fight our way out.”
“I’ll gladly burn the entire capital down if it means to keep my family and clan safe. Do you have doubts?”
“No. I’ll do the same, though I fear we would need to leave Fire Country should it come to it.”
“If I remember correctly, Mito’s father already offered us refuge should something go wrong.”
“Yeah, but I still hope it won’t come to it. We have already put so much effort into moving your clan and mine is ready to follow as soon as we are back. It would be a shame and a waste to leave everything behind.”
“You worry too much.”
“How can I not.”
“Hm.”
“Uchiha-sama!” A voice called from the other side of the door.
Madara shared a glance with his friend. “Well, it’s time. There’s no going back now.”
“Indeed.”
Madara gave one sharp nod before opening the door and following the adjutant to the court room.
Like last time when he entered, the Hyuuga clan head and his heir were already sitting in their places, while the Daimyo sat on his throne at the other end of the room in the middle.
Madara walked forward, this time without his heir at his side. It had been decided that Hikaku and Tobirama would not join the court, not only because the latter had a baby to take care of, but also because of the ongoing preparations for the Senju clan moving in. It was only natural that in such a vital time both clan heirs would oversee the proceedings while the clan heads went to pay their respects to the Daimyo.
“In the name of the Uchiha clan, I, Lord Uchiha Madara, clan leader of the Uchiha, greet the ruler of Hi no Kuni.” Madara said, only slightly bowing to show some respect. Though unlike the year before, he didn’t pledge his loyalty to the Daimyo, which of course didn’t go unnoticed.
“Uchiha Madara. Your lack of respect and your missing pledge of loyalty concerns me. Is there anything I need to know?”
“There is indeed something. I hope Madoka-dono will be able to clarify it before I pledge my loyalty once more.”
“You’re very bold, Uchiha Madara. I hope whatever it is, you are aware of the consequences. Questioning my authority is not something you should do lightly.”

---- a short excerpt
Of course, Hashirama couldn’t leave without making a scene, though while everyone just wished it would be over, Yume was more than delighted at her uncle’s silly behavior.
But what even Tobirama couldn’t deny himself was being scent marked by his pack alpha. So, when Hashirama took him into his arms and started to rub his face, neck and wrists all over his brother’s, Tobirama let him and even returned the gesture with a low purr.
Madara had to look away, otherwise he might do or say something that wasn’t very proper. He had to remind himself that Tobirama wasn’t his to mark, not yet. And it wasn’t like he had any reason to be jealous. Hashirama was Tobirama’s brother and pack alpha, not some random alpha that tried to steal his omega away from him.
“I want a letter at least once a week, dear brother mine. If you skip or forget to send me just even one, I’ll come, no matter the weather. Understood?”
“Understood,” Tobirama mumbled into his older brother’s neck.
“Good. I count on you.” Hashirama whispered and pressed a kiss into the albino’s hair before his eyes landed on Madara, who was still not looking at them.
“Madara.” He waited until the other alpha met his eyes. “Be good to him.”
It didn’t need more for Madara to understand. And he was more than aware why Touka had chosen to stay behind. Not just because of her growing relation to Sango, but also to keep an eye on her baby cousin and report to Hashirama anything that Tobirama might not report himself.
“I promise nothing will happen to them. You have my word as clan head and alpha of my own pack.”
“Stupid alphas. I’m very much capable of taking care and protecting myself as well as my children. You better not underestimate me,” Tobirama said with a clear pout in his voice, that also became visible when he drew back from his brother.
“We do not. And you know it. So don’t be upset.” Hashirama said with a nudge to the tip of Tobirama’s nose, who drew back even more while wrinkling it.
“I’m not a child, you know.”
“But you aren’t an adult either, even if you are a mother now.”
“Tsk. You better go, or I will kick your ass, idiot Anijia.”

Tobirama could feel them. Only a few hours now.
“To’ra?” Tobirama blinked at hearing one of his many nicknames.
“They will arrive around sunset.”
“They surely are fast,” Sango said.
“Did you expect otherwise?” Touka huffed while snatching away another snack.
“No.”
“Kaaaasan! You promised!” Kagami called out from the garden, impatiently. Touka snickered and threw a snack over to his cousin, who comfortably leaned against Ashira’s flank, Yume on his chest.
“Go. You can be lazy after.”
Tobirama grunted when the snack hit the side of his head. He had no idea how his cousin could still be hungry. They had just eaten lunch. Okay, maybe it was an hour ago, but still. And today was probably the first time the omega managed to eat a full meal. Therefore, he felt rather full and tired instead of energetic. His eyelids felt heavy, and the warmth of Ashira’s fur at his back didn’t help. He just wanted to nap.
Unfortunately for him, Kagami’s own nap after lunch lasted only around forty-five minutes, so the boy was already up and about, running circles in the garden as if powered by pure sunlight.
“Kaasan.” Kagami’s yell switched to a pitiful whine that at last Tobirama couldn’t ignore anymore. The two kunoichis laughed when noticing the omega’s reaction, which was promptly answered with an annoyed look in their direction that only made them laugh harder.
Tobirama huffed but stood. Then he carefully placed his sleeping daughter into Touka’s arms. Touka stopped laughing immediately and instead took on an alert expression, her back straightening as if she had just been handed a live explosive tag.
Now it was Tobirama’s turn to smirk about his cousin’s panicked expression. He knew Touka wasn’t very fond of children, with the only exception being those she considered pack. And she very much felt uncomfortable holding a small fragile creature that might break if she so much as sneezed. However, Tobirama trusted her. She already held Yume once, and she was good at it.
It was more like she simply had no idea what to do with something tiny in her arms.
“I have another child to entertain, so have an eye on her,” he said, and left a wide eyed Touka behind, who stared at the tiny being in her arms as if waiting for instructions.
When she finally regained some composure, Tobirama was already out of reach and close to where Kagami was jumping in excitement, demanding attention with both hands raised. Beside her, Sango laughed even louder.

In the night two days later, Tobirama cursed. It seemed he celebrated too soon. The only relief was that the group of fifteen seemed unsure and rather uncoordinated. Perhaps some stragglers who hadn’t yet joined the main group when Hashirama and Madara came over them like a hurricane a week after the fire in the Uchiha compound.
Madara needed to get some steam off after the horrible loss, and what was more perfect than taking care of bloodline hunters, slavers, bandits, or other possible threats.
Anyway, they seemed to have the Uchiha compound in their sights. They must have heard of Madara being away with a large group of his warriors. Maybe also about the fire that burned half the compound.
Surely they thought the Uchiha must be vulnerable but had no idea yet that the clan had already moved.
Hm, the group was still five to six hours away. The night was still young, barely an hour before midnight.

“Maybe we skip to the part where Madara actually tries to create a clone?” Hashirama suggested, his eyes flicking back and forth between Madara and his baby brother.
Madara shrugged, more than willing to steer the conversation back to the original topic. Copying hand signs was one thing, but he still needed to know what the final step actually was.
Tobirama felt everyone’s gaze at him and finally cleared his throat. “Ahem. Yeah, well. Just… do what you do when creating a basic clone. And… eh… concentrate on your chakra. You will feel a strong pull. It might be a little uncomfortable at first, so don’t be surprised. But if it becomes painful, stop immediately.”
Madara nodded and repeated the motions. Then he flared his chakra. Just as Tobirama had said, he felt a pull around his middle, growing stronger and stronger, until suddenly it felt like he was splitting in two.
There was a loud puff of smoke right next to him, and when he turned his head, Madara stared at a perfect mirror of himself.
“Awesome,” both Madaras said at the same time.
“Oh kami,” Touka muttered under her breath, while Hikaku could only stare.
Hashirama clapped loudly, and Tobirama immediately stepped closer, checking the clone for anything unusual.
After a minute of inspection, the omega asked, “And how are you feeling?”
“Well…” both Madaras began.
“The original, please,” Tobirama interrupted. “I want to know specifically if you feel any chakra depletion.”
“Uh, yes. I would say it’s exactly as you said. Almost half of my chakra reserves are now in my clone. Still, I don’t feel tired or weakened.”
“Do you feel the connection to your clone?”
“Yes.”
“Okay. Hm. Maybe we start with something simple. Clone Madara, please leave us. Go to the top of the mountain behind us, the one next to the new Senju compound.”
The clone nodded and disappeared without any protest.

In another universe, the heroes are us - Chapter 54 - SinaPrime - Naruto (Anime & Manga) [Archive of Our Own] ---- A short excerpt from the chapter
“Careful, Otouto. Take it slow.”
“Stop coddling me. I’m fine, Anija.”
“As fine as you can be with your chakra coils still strained and being low on chakra. Here, your glasses. No chakra use until I’m happy with the level of your chakra reserves.”
Tobirama took the glasses with a pout.
He put them on, his vision immediately turning sharper. It was still weird to wear glasses, but Tobirama had to admit that it was nice to actually see what was in front of him and not just some blurred images.
“How is Tajima-san?” he asked after steadily standing.
“Stable and getting better, but still unconscious.”
“Where is Madara?”
“Speaking with Mito about the seals you and her created for transportation.” Hashirama replied while putting the straps around Tobirama’s shoulders.
“I assume it was agreed on to move the Uchiha then?”
“Yes, though some of our elders haven’t been very welcoming to the idea.”
“Why? Do they think the Uchiha will have any advantage when settling before us?”
“Something like that, yes. And they are worried they might harm the few Senju that will live here.”
“So they don’t trust that Madara will keep his people in line. Or is it that they don’t trust me to protect them?”
“It doesn’t matter what they think. I spoke with the families that had volunteered to move, and they are still willing to do so.”
“Mhm.” Tobirama hummed while pulling and adjusting the straps around his daughter, pressed against his chest. Yume was fast asleep, completely content with the steady movement of her mother’s body and the familiar sound of a heartbeat.
“Are you ready?” Hashirama asked after picking up the bag he had used to bring Tobirama fresh clothes.
“Yes.”
“Then let’s go home.”
Okay. Serious question. Could you imagine Sesshoumaru from the series Inuyasha being born as Tobirama's and Madara's son?
Yes
No
I'm seriously considering the option for my sequel in the serie "In this universe, the heroes are us"
