My name is Obaida Jaafar. I am 19 years old, and I am from Gaza.
I never imagined that my life would become like this.
Before the war, we had a home, a normal life, and dreams for the future. Then everything changed. My father was killed, and with him, the sense of safety that held our family together. Our home was destroyed, and in a single moment, everything we had was gone. 🏠💔
Today, my family and I live in a small tent by the sea. ⛺🌊 We are seven people struggling to survive each day with very limited food, clean water, and basic necessities.
I became responsible for my entire family overnight. 👨👩👧👦 Not because I was ready, but because there was no other choice. My younger siblings depend on me for everything, and every day I worry about how I will provide for them.
My sister is trying to continue her university education. 🎓 She has worked so hard for her future, but she may lose that opportunity because we cannot afford her tuition fees.
Some time ago, a kind friend created a fundraising campaign for me. That campaign gave my family hope during one of the darkest periods of our lives. Unfortunately, my friend later faced serious family problems, and his mother forced him to stop helping me. As a result, the campaign was closed, and I lost the only fundraising support my family had.
Since then, I have been struggling on my own.
Without a campaign or support, I honestly do not know how to meet my family's basic needs. There are days when finding enough food for everyone feels impossible. The weight of responsibility is overwhelming, but I keep going because my family has no one else to rely on. 😢💔🥺
