I loved it, it was short, sure but what we got was amazing.

Aziracrow tried to protect the earth and the book of life from Michael but he destroyed it.

I repeat: AZIRACROW TRIED TO SAVE THE EARTH.

The book of life is the root of the issue Aziraphale and Crowley are trying to solve. It is supposed to be an exact recounting of every single moment in the universe. Meaning that everything is scripted, meant to happen, “ineffable”. They couldn’t have just written a new book because that negates their entire reasoning behind making a new universe anyway. It doesn’t matter if humanity is made perfectly what they want is humanity to actually be human.

Their long winded metaphor about finding the lady, its about how no matter what path in life a human chose they were never actually making their own decisions. The lady was never actually attainable, you were just misdirected to think you were playing the game when in actuality you were the one being played.

“The cosmic game of chess is over, when really you’ve just been a stand-in for a cosmic game of solitaire.” As Aziraphale put it.
