A beautifully captured panorama of the Laitlum Grand Canyon...
When you walk up to nature... Nature walks up to you....
Oh Illish!!! What a Fish!!!!
I am a lazy soul, generally preferring a "good" morning sleep over a fast paced morning routine...  And I belong to a very ardent fish loving family, the day was Sunday, and Sunday itself is an occasion for having fish, so although unwillingly yet I accompanied my father to a fish market... It was not the first time I have been to a fish market, but it was definitely the first time I have been to a fish market at 7'o clock, now don't judge me saying its still late and I wake up at 5'o clock, I know you do but for someone who sleeps just couple of hours before the sunrise its really early. Anyways, fish market so early in the morning is devoid of any ruckus, for a moment or two I felt a pride inside that if this is the fish market our teachers used to compare our classroom with, then this is definitely an compliment rather than an insult. Yet whatsoever quiet fish market is such an irony that, it must have given the poets some new poetic devices. Although there was an absence of noises yet there were a huge presence of fishes.... Roaming through those narrow gullies, I came across a lot of different fishes, of different sizes and different textures, but that day I found out who the king of the Indian market really is.... Size longer than rest, body shinier than rest, and scales notably lesser than rest, with a tint of red and pink.. It took me very less time to realize that from Indian point of view it's no one else but Illish, which is the real king....
Illish or Hilsa was a crowd puller, it had the potential to single handedly make the day of a fish-seller worth it..... Question that arises is, why I say this? That is because of its price, it single handedly broke the bubble I was living in, it took one illish for me to realize the value of money... Now point is I have never been a fan of fishes, so naturally a fish that's so pricey and full of bones (it feels really awkward to associate bones with fishes, but I don't know the name of the alternate of what they have inside them that resembles to bones in animals, so I will call them fish bones) does not really attracts me. Whatsoever, I was blown away listening to its price, I went through a whole state of disbelief, I still wasn't able to comprehend how can people spend so much in a fish, for a person earning a meagre 40,000 per month, how can he spend almost 5% of his monthly salary just on a fish, even for a person earning around 80,000 per month, this fish will cost him 2.5% of his monthly salary.... It was astounding for me, when I saw people in front of me including my father, buying it gleefully without any regret or remorse of the 5% or 2.5% spent in just a single meal, and all throughout flashing in my head were the memories of the previous day, when he rejected with a straight face my appeal to upgrade my 600 rupees Zebronics headphone with a new 1200 rupees Boat headphones.... Anyways all these events made me realize the love of people towards this particular fish, and yeah like any other individual, although not with much interest yet I tasted the very special Illish curry....... "steamed illish with sesame seeds", and craze was understandable now, as the taste was heavenly....        Â
Yet even after everything I was compelled to ask a question..... Is the goods and service tax on Illish 28%? Because without a shadow of doubt it was a luxury item.... Thank Youuu.... Love you alllll.........
