Jon matteson and his lack of vocal fry in the original show whenever paul showed despair via screaming, you can always hear a bit of vocal fry and how his voice distorts, it adds to the comedy aspect, here yes his voice is stable its great its clear BUT THE VOCAL FRY MAN

a lot of the acting got toned down in its zaniness, im so serious when i say the only 3 actors who carried the show were joey, jeff and will they were acting their asses off truly, the rest of the cast to me felt like they were directed to act in a MOVIE rather than a MUSICAL. like yes the whole plot of the show is oo how wacky is it that the world is becoming a musical, but hatchetfield even without the apotheosis is STILL zany and quirky in its own right, you see this SO CLEARLY IN THE ORIGINAL PROSHOT like bill was zany in being sort of the pacifist of the group, paul even though he was meant to be "just a guy" STILL showed his quirks by how he reacts to hatchetfield and their shenanigans ("look at the bits where he's like "...okay byeeeee" to another character whenever he was feeling awkward) here, bill to me feels VERY contained in his characterization, same with paul and they both lose the charm they had in the original show man

emma's characterization felt like how paul viewed her as this cool girl barista rather than the bitchy idgaf attitude she originally had IM SORRY THATS WHAT IT FELT LIKE TO ME

Also, the pacing with the lines. I do agree that Bill was really contained, and I wholeheartedly believe that it was partly due to the pacing of the lines. All the wrong scenes were either too fast or too slow, they never really had one thing for the specific parts that required it. Certain parts of Not Your Seed are MEANT TO BE SLOW, but they keep the same tempo the whole time, and because of that I couldn’t feel anything toward the characters like I did in the original. I felt literally no emotion for them and that bugs me. And another thing with the pacing, Hidgens said all his lines too fast. He lacked so much emotion and that hurt me to see because he’s literally my favorite character, and all he did within that proshot was cause an intense disturbance within my soul.

I love all the actors, I really do, but man I did not like the reprise.
