ok that carry on musical account thing is pissing me off now and i’m going to explain why
- referring to simon as a ‘himbo’ (mind you simon is actually one of the smartest characters in the whole series. he cannot speak spells correctly due to a canonical speech difference— he didn’t “speak much” until he was 9 and underwent brief speech therapy, but didn’t continue on with it. )
simon being a ‘himbo’ wouldn’t even make sense. HE is the one who saved the world of mages, he is the one who defeated the humdrum, who killed the mage. he is the one who consistently (and oftentimes at the expense of himself) defended watford and the world of mages. i think people forget how little simon knew of all of it in comparison to everyone else and yet he still tried so much harder than all of them. not to mention EVEN BAZ SAYS THAT SIMON IS SMART
- referring to baz as a villain.
he’s not a monster. he’s just a villain.
he’s not a villain. he’s just a boy.
- consistent use of h*rry p*tter within the promotion of the musical. referring to the series as *that ship* fanfic instead of the actual series name, essentially giving free promotion to an author who’s actively trying to remove the rights of trans people under the guise of “protecting women”, and a lot of her views and political opinions are built into the hp series. both myself and my friend commented this, asking them to not use someone so horrible in the marketing. my friend’s comment was then deleted.
uses of hp include: #dr***y on every single post, liking and responding to comments about baz pitch bringing “dr*cotok back”, referring to snowbaz as “what if h*rry and dr*co were __” , calling baz “dr*co”
now, i understand that when you have a project based on a small piece of media, sometimes you have to compare it to others to build an audience, but the simon snow series is not a small piece of media. there are NINE books that include these characters. it’s completely unnecessary and frankly just a slap in the face to the trans community within the fandom to continue to bring up jkr in conversation with the series. especially in this day and age. yes, we know how it started, but it stopped being about that Years ago. it can and does stand on its own outside of that.
deleting comments that call them out on this unnecessary comparison is also inherently stupid and just transphobic. you care more about gaining a hp audience for a musical not about it than you do about the trans people that have Been in the fandom for years? oh ok.
so instead of platforming and highlighting a series known for being full of diverse characters, queer people, people of colour, straight people literally being the minority… you decide to instead focus on a different series full of racism, antisemitism, classism, all written by a terf !
