Oh my gosh, y'all, I am just so flippin' excited to be starting this journey. I have always wanted to learn how to mod video games, ever since Dragon Age: Origins came out. I was young still, I think at the end of my freshman year or beginning of sophomore year of high school.
I played the heck out of that game, y'all. It was so much fun, and continues to be in my top 5 games to this day. But there were some things I wanted to change, and some story lines I wanted to create and share with the community.
Unfortunately, I didn't have a good enough PC to use the DA toolkit, and I didn't even think about trying to teach myself to code through the internet at the time. So, I didn't learn to mod back then. :(
Soon after that, my next computer was a macbook, which...yeah, good luck modding with that, haha. It also wasn't very good for playing games, but it was excellent and necessary for the work I was/am still doing. I still have a macbook to this day, but I now also have a windows gaming computer at long last! Woohoo!
It's finally time for me to dive into a passion I have put off for a long time--3D modeling and video game modding/design. I'm actually going to be starting at my local community college for an associates in simulation and game design this fall, 2021!
I'm so excited for this chapter of my life. I'm not going to wait for my college classes, though! I've got a few skillshare classes on blender, zbrush, and unreal engine that I'm going to start soon, as well as several resources to start learning python.
My heart belongs to the sims, forever, though! And I've been playing it a lot lately--because I am disabled, getting worse, lol--and I love to tell stories while I play the sims. I used to write and share sim stories back in the sims 2 days, and I miss that. So, while I'm learning 3D modeling, coding, and sim specific modding, I'm also going to write and share sim stories! :D
Isn't life grand? I mean, aside from all the horrors...nope, let's not think about that. Focusing on the positives right now.
I've got a lot to look forward to and to be grateful for, and I'm going to keep working so that good energy sticks around.
