Another gorgeous LA sunset.

Randomly just called a Palestinian phone number and spoke to woman named Shadia, a mother of 3 living in Rafah, Gaza. I shared my name and that I was calling from the US. I let her know that from thousands of miles away I am praying for her, her family and the nation of Palestine. I reassured her that we in America have not forgotten about them this Eid. She sounded surprised that any one would think of calling her and told me that she was glad that there are people who are still thinking about them. Even through the broken English and lack of Arabic, I felt like she could feel me and I could feel her. She asked if I could call her again tomorrow, and I told her absolutely - that I would call her back everyday. We have forgotten that there are people suffering in Palestine - we pay more attention to the numbers thrown at us by the media. Humanize Palestine.

I wish more people would understand this... Success isn't a single destination, it's not about the numbers in your bank account, the rooms in your house or the brand names hanging in your closet. You can't take those with you when you die, so why strive so hard to accumulate them now? Why does that "status" hold more value than helping people and creating positive energy?
