A silly little fic for an amazingly funny comic by @dragkbluire
Room at the Inn
Read on ao3
"No animals allowed, huh?" Legend read the sign outside the inn, then smirked up at Twilight. "Guess that means you and I need to stay out here tonight."
"Oooh no, not me Vet," Twilight shook his head vehemently. "I've been fixin' for a bed all week!"
Four poked his head around Twilight and stared at the sign for a moment. "I bet you Time could get an animal in."
"You really think the Old Man has a tricky streak?" Legend scoffed. But his eyes glittered. "50 rupees says he can't."
"Deal! C'mon, Twi. I wanna see this."
-----
Time sighed, then smiled down at the Smithy. "You really bet rupees on this, Little One?"
"Absolutely." Four ticked the points off on his fingers, leaning casually on Wolfie's shoulder. "I've listened to the Sailor's stories. You've shown us your masks. Plus," he grinned, sharp and mischievous, "it's been ages since we had some harmless fun."
Time put on a long-suffering face. "I dare say it won't be fun for the innkeeper." But he began divesting himself of his armor, storing it piece by piece in his pouch. He tried but failed to hide the excited grin tugging at his lips. "Let's do this," he agreed.
Four whooped. Wolfie's tongue lolled out in a wide, doggy grin, and he gave a happy bark.
-----
Four nestled himself deep inside Wolfie's neck fur, Minish-sized and ready for the show.Â
"Keep a good grip," Wolfie told him as they mounted the steps to the inn. "I don't know what Time has planned. We may need to run."
"Got it,"Â Four whispered back, the Picori language rolling naturally off his tongue.
Time opened the door for them, then approached the older lady at the reception desk. "Good evening, ma'am," he said smoothly. "Do you have three rooms available for the night? I'm traveling with a sizeable party, but they're willing to share."
The innkeeper peered over the desk, her round glasses slipping down her nose. "I'm sorry, sir," she said, voice dripping with false regret. "We don't accept animals in this inn."
"Oh yeah," Time remained relaxed, one hand resting on his belt, "I'm fully aware of that." He gestured down at Wolfie. "This is my great-great-grandson. We really look alike, right?"
The woman stared. "Sir, a wolf can't be your..."
She blinked, and Wolfie shifted under Four's feet. He muffled a yelp as his perch grew into Twilight's pelt.Â
Time didn't even glance their way. "What's the matter?"
The woman pursed her lips and stared at the pair of Hylians in front of her, then huffed and closed her eyes. "Besides, you look too young to have a great-great-grandson."
Out of the corner of his eyen Four saw Time's hand plunge into his pouch. In an instant, a mask clamped itself onto his face, and the Old Man shrunk into a kid. Four stuffed his fist into his mouth to stifle his giggles.
"See?" the young Link jeered, pulling his good eyelid down and sticking out his tongue at Twilight. "She says I look too young! So you better stop calling me 'Old Man'."
Twilight chuckled. "Okay, okay. I'll take that."
Four peeked around Twilight's shoulder. The old lady stared, fingertips pressed together in concern. "Are you...Hylian?" she questioned, glasses slipping down her nose again.
In the time it took her to fix them, Twilight shifted back to Wolfie and Time pulled on another mask, turning into a Zora. Four buried his head into his arm, silently cackling as the pair just stood in front of the desk.
He heard the barely-audible griding of teeth and raised his head, gasping for air. Oh golden three her face! Legend's gonna be pissed he missed this.
The innkeeper sighed in defeat and pinched her eyes closed. "Yeah, you two look very alike. Welcome to the inn." She slid the register book and quill across the desk.Â
Time removed his mask, signed and returned the book, and accepted the three keys in exchange. "Let's go, Pup."
Wolfie trotted happily after Time. Four turned and looked back at the reception desk. The poor woman had her head buried in her hands, staring blankly at the resiger book in front of her. Her lips moved, but he couldn't hear any words. He nudged at the shoulder rolling beneath him. "Did you catch what she said?"
Wolfie twitched an ear and huffed an amused bark. "She said, 'Am I tripping?'"
Four giggled as they went to retrieve the rest of the Chain. He went through the nearby Minish portal and entered the inn with everyone else, smugly accepting his hard-won rupees from Legend as they paraded past the front desk, Wolfie proudly in the lead.

I cannot believe there's absolutely no way to watch free shows and movies anymore, there are too many paid streaming platforms and pirating websites have viruses and ads preventing you from watching it uninterrupted((.)) id rather follow the rules and purchase media moving forward because it is too inconvenient. Seriously, free and no ads or viruses with 1080p streaming is DEAD.
Exactly! It's freaking annoying when I want to watch movies but I would have to subscribe to like 24 different services . Just to watch the shows that I like.
i like using streaming apps but there are waaaay too many and they're all stealing my data .i wish there was a secure and organized way to have millions of shows and movies available one one app. but alas. we've truly gone full circle back to cable + now it spies on you. its a real shame. i dont want to fill my device storage with tons of boring and stupid cash grabs.
Half of those services don't even work well. Oh you paused a little too long so we're exiting to the place where we can show more ads. I've even had some that made me search for the show every time because it wouldn't save it. It's like, that's the only reason you're sometimes more convenient and you're still fucking it up! But yeah the catalogs are way too spread out.
It really fucking sucks though. I just want to watch movies- without paying some shitty company. I really don't want to subscribe to 700 streaming services for them.
For not just movies but books, audiobooks, software, music, those kinds of things, you would think there would be a resource for all that online. Webpages that can point you in the direction of all these resources. We really need someone to develop that for us.
There is no person so outnumbered as a mother alone with her three kids at a splash pad
Especially when the two oldest both need to use the bathroom but are afraid of the automatic flushing toilets, they can't get their wet swimsuits off, and the third is hell-bent on getting back onto the water slide while mom's distracted

My couch can literally fit five or six of my girls. So of course they decide that the only place they want to sit is Right On Top Of Each Other đ¤Śââď¸
5 What color are your walls? Boring apartment neutral haha
9 Do you sleep with stuffed animals? No, but I do still have a few I pull out when I'm sad!
22 What was your childhood favorite music artist? Probably Journey - my dad listened to it all the time, and I'm a daddy's girl đĽ°
41 Would you rather go on a date at a museum or a concert? Honestly, depends on the concert. I'm not generally a fan of loud or crowded spaces. I've had a few more sedate concerts I enjoyed though!

Here it is! The finale to my three intertwined whump fics from last year!
Febuwhump 2025 - A Safe Harbor (Free at Last)
Chapter 2: The Ranch
Prev
Read on ao3
Malon hummed to herself as she brushed the last of the horses, lost in the gentle scrape and scratch of the bristles through short hair. It was one of her favorite times of the day: chores were done, her body sore but fulfilled from a good day's work, everything calm and peaceful. The setting sun lit the sky with fiery reds and oranges, valiantly holding dusk at bay.
She swept loose horse hair from her skirts and picked up the combs, picks and brushes, heading to the barn to tidy up. Epona nickered and followed behind.
Malon smiled happily at the horse waiting patiently outside the barn as she finished their preparations for the night. She couldnât help the laugh that bubbled from her throat. It truly had been a perfect day.
If only Link had been here to enjoy it with me.
She shook off the melancholy thought, striding back to the barn door to call the herd in for the night. Epona met her with a warm nod and bright, liquid eyes.
But almost in an instant, Eponaâs demeanor changed. She froze, trembling, ears pricked forward, attention on something across the paddock.
âWhat is it, girl?â Malon asked softly, unwilling to spook the mare more. Epona gave a nervous whinny and stamped her hoof.
A chill wind blew through the barn. Malon shivered and gathered her shawl closer around her shoulders, hushing Epona before going to check on the rest of the horses.
Three massive triangular portals, inky black and deep purple, swirled on the other side of the paddock gate, scaring the herd and disgorging several Hylian figures onto the soft summer grass before winking out of sight.
Even at that distance, even without most of their armor, Malon recognized her husband and boys.
Theyâre back! Her heart soared and her feet fairly flew, crossing the paddock in seconds.
She nearly crashed into the gate when she registered the blood covering several of them. âGolden goddesses, Link! What happened?!â
He wasnât listening, eye bright and giving orders to those who were awake. âWind, Twilight, go get some fairies! Hyrule, keep pressure on Legendâs arm! Sky, Wild, what happened to them, how bad are they hurt?â
Wild managed a word that sounded like âYiga" before he collapsed in a heap, Warriors moaning in his grasp. Malon stared, horrified by the sheer amount of blood on Warriors' chest. How is he still alive?
Sky stood like a startled barn cat, clutching something in the folds of the cloak he always wore. A closer look revealed a head of silky straight blond hair; the little smithy, Four, pale and asleep or unconscious. âA sword spirit f-from my era,â Sky finally stammered, âkidnapped us a-and f-froze and tortured Four. Heâs had a fairy, but heâs still chilled.â
Wind and Twilight returned, a small shimmer of fairies on their heels. Several of the tiny sprites shrieked and dove for Warriors and Legend, spinning tight circles around their chests and arms. One split off and ministered to Twilight's hand and Wind's chest, where Malon could see makeshift bandages peeking through their sleep clothes. Another wound around Sky and Four, easing tension in trembling, overworked muscles.
Spurred by the fairies' urgency, Malon hopped the fence, crashing to the earth across from her husband. She took one callused hand in hers, his other monitoring Legendâs pulse. âLink,â she whispered, caressing his bruised face. âWhat happened?â
He leaned into the touch and sighed. âI donât know,â he admitted. âOne moment, we were asleep in Wild's era, next thing I knew weâd been abducted by a madman and separated. Legend nearly died to free us.â
âIâd do it again,â Legend's voice rasped beneath them. He curled his left arm around his ribs, grimacing slightly.
Hyrule's eyes flared golden. âLegend, with all due respect: shut. up. I am never letting you sacrifice yourself for us like that again.â The second fairy spinning around Legend's arm and leg chimed in emphatic agreement.
Legend grinned weakly and closes his eyes. âOkay,â he breathed, relaxing under the fairy's ministrations.
Malon looked around again, her keen eye catching the exhaustion that dragged shoulders low and dulled each gaze. âYou boys look like you could use some good food and a hot bath,â she murmured. She stood, swiping dirt from her skirts. âTwilight, hon, are you hurt?â
âNot anymore, Miss Malon. Fairy fixed me right up.â
âGood. Would you take Wild into the house, please? Guest bedroom should still be made up enough to get by for the moment. Sky, you take Four in and get the both of you settled, too.â
They left with their charges in tow, and she carefully walked over to where Warriors lay. The fairies had done their jobs well. Blood still stained his bare chest, face, and trousers, but the wide, gaping slash across his chest had narrowed considerably, and his black eyes had faded to week-old bruises.
âLink, darling,â she called over her shoulder, âwould you take Warriors into our room and finish patching him up? The fairies have done all they can, I think.â
She heard Link murmur something to Hyrule, then his warm, steadying presence came up behind her. He wrapped her in a brief hug, burying his face in her hair, and she melted against him. Theyâre home. Theyâre alive. The relief made her knees weak.
Link kissed her cheek then stooped to pick up Warriors. Before he could get a good grip, the younger man flinched awake and scrambled away.
âKrghâŚâ Warriors groaned, clutching at his shoulder and ribs. âWild! Yiga! WhereâŚ?â His eyelids fluttered, and he almost fell over again.
Link caught and supported the young Captain. âHush, Warriors, you're safe,â he soothed, running shaking fingers through windswept hair. âWe are at the Ranch, no one is going to hurt you.â
Warriors panted, trying to focus. âTime?â he mumbled, before going totally limp again.
Malon pressed her fingers to her lips, tears beading in her eyes, appalled at the picture coming together in her mind. Link gathered Warriors in his arms and smiled tightly at her.
âWeâre going to be okay,â he assured her, before following their Pup and Cub into the house.
Malon swiftly wiped her eyes before turning back to Wind, Hyrule, and Legend. She knelt on the ground again and ran a hand through the Sailor's hair. âYou okay, Tune?â
âYeah,â he nodded. âGot shocked once, but that was all.â
âHyrule?â Malon turned to the Traveler, who grimaced and rubbed the back of his neck.
âIâmâŚfine?â He shrank at the look Malon sent him, then continued, âWell, the creep hurt me a bit, but he was weirdly obsessed with Legend.â
âNever even seen the man in my life,â Legend grumbled beneath them.
A yawn split Hyrule's face. âIâm just a bit low on magic, is all. Fairies healed my foot.â
Malon nodded, satisfied. âWind, dear, would you help Hyrule inside, please? Iâll get Legend.â
âI can walk!â Legend tried to protest. He moved to get up, but his face paled like spoiled milk.
âNone of that, now,â Malon chided as she scooped him up. âYouâve fought your fight, Link. Let us take care of the rest.â
Legend's face scrunched like he wanted to argue, but then he sighed, melting into her hold. âYes ma'am.â
Malon's heart broke for the boy, put through so much at such a young age, and held him closer. âYou just rest. Weâll get baths drawn, clean y'all up, and get some supper when youâre ready, okay?â
-----
A couple hours later, with Link's help, all the boys had been cleaned and patched up, and a hearty stew was simmering over the fire.
Wild and Warriors slept in one room, Sky and Hyrule in another. Legend refused to sleep, but conceded to resting on the couch, a cup of warm cocoa in hand. Four huddled next to him, wrapped in a thick quilt and nursing his own cup of cocoa.
Malon sat at the table with Wind, Twilight, and her Link, holding his hand and basking in the safety of having them all home again.
âI can barely imagine what y'all've been through,â she murmured, half to herself.
âIt was terrifying,â Four admitted softly, haunted. In the shifting firelight, his eyes seemed to change colors: at one moment blue, another flickering to red and purple. He shivered and pulled the quilt closer, red eyes going distant as he stared into the fire. âButâŚI knew Sky was there, fighting to save me, and it gave me hope.â
Legend wrapped an arm around the Smithy, pulling him closer. âI wonât explain myself,â he uttered, violet eyes burning like a solar eclipse. âI did what I had to to save everyone.
He deflated slightly, then added, âIt's all I know.â
Nobody but Malon caught the flinch that rippled across Linkâs shoulders. She smiled softly to herself. Yes, he would know something of that feeling, too, having spent years trying to regain the relationships he'd lost after an adventure nobody remembered. Gently, she took his hand and squeezed it.
Link startled at the contact but smiled at her, returning the gesture. âWe are fortunate no one was alone through their ordeal,â he rumbled, looking out over their boys. âI cannot bear to imagine the consequences of such a situation.â
Malon closed her eyes, silently thanking the goddesses once again for her boys' safe return. Every time they left, the worry gnawed at her soul like a Wolfos. Their safe return, even in such poor condition, was reason to rejoice.
She opened her eyes, discretely wiping a tear, then announced, âSupper should be ready, if any of y'all are hungry?â
She chuckled softly at the chorus of soft but enthusiastic assent that rippled around the room. âAnd after that I have some apple pie and chilled sweet cream for dessert.â
Louder cheers rang out, and several pairs of feet hit the floor in the rooms above them. Soon, all ten of them gathered around the table, eating, sharing stories and experiences, and generally enjoying each other's company.
Malon sat back, unable to hide the joy welling from her eyes.

Chapter 1: Portals
Read on ao3
Sky left the frigid, unfamiliar dungeon behind, welcoming the warm sun on his shoulders. He held his precious successor close, bundled safely in his sailcloth. The Smithy's trembling had eased slightly, but Sky still worried.
At least if Ghirahim or any other monster tried anything, heâd have plenty of warning â the area surrounding the dungeon was flat, nearly lifeless.
A gentle thrum split the air; Fi warmed slightly on his back, pulling his attention to a spot to his right.
A dark portal split the horizon, warping the light around it and snagging insistent claws deep into his bones.
Never before had a portal felt so urgent.
Cherished Goddess, he prayed, altering his course, please take us to our brothers.
-----
Hyrule grunted as he hit the ground, the impact jarring his injuries. A bundle of dead weight landed on top of him, pushing the breath from his lungs. He gasped through his gag and squirmed, trying to shift enough to see Legend.
Sea-green eyes and a shock of messy blond hair flashed in his vision, and Legend's weight disappeared. Nimble fingers picked at the ropes around his wrists, even as stronger fingers tugged at the knot in his gag.
Hyrule struggled to focus through the fae ire burning in his blood. Brooding dark magic swirled in front of him and he snapped his newly-freed teeth, before reason broke through and he recognized Twilight.
The Rancher held his hands up in surrender; Hyrule noticed a crude bandage wrapped around one of them. âWhoa, Rulie, itâs jus' us, youâre out, youâre safe.â
Hyrule panted, struggling to organize his thoughts. Distantly, he heard Wind ask what happened. âThe stupid, goddess-blessed idiot,â he snarled, ârefused to let me be hurt until his body literally shut down to protect itself!â
He turned to Legend, lying limp and so pale in the afternoon sunlight, and shuddered. He tested his magic, fretting when it returned far too low to be of much use. âNo, no, noâŚâ he moaned, casting his Life spell regardless. The blue-green glow fluttered around Legend's arm and foot, then died.
Hyrule replaced his magic with direct pressure on Legend's arm, trying to slow the bleeding. âHe needs a fairy, a potion, something!â
Wind, who was already pawing through Legend's pouches, slowly shook his head.
Hyruleâs righteous anger fizzled out. âThere has to be something we can do,â he whispered.
âUh,â Twilight commented, pointing across the clearing, âthat might lead to somethinâ.â
A dark portal, like the one that brought them all together in the first place, writhed insistently at the treeline.
Immediately, Time pulled Legend into his arms, then strode urgently across the clearing. Twilight, Wind, and Hyrule made eye contact with each other, then scrambled after him.
Urgency thrummed under Hyrule's skin, temporarily dulling the pain in his foot and leg. Hold on, Legend!
-----
Warriors' head lolled against Wildâs chest and shoulder as they appeared on the shrine platform. Wild took a few secondsâ comfort in the relative safety of the calming waters of the Domain to hold his brother close, run trembling fingers through dirty, tousled hair, and check Wars' pulse and breathing.
His own exhaustion soon threatened to drag him under. Gotta move. Canât stop here. With a groan, Wild staggered to his feet, holding Warriors around his shoulders and knees. Step by tenuous step, Wild waded through the hip-high water around the shrine and up the stairs. Seabed Inn's just around the corner. Hang on, Wars.
A portal appeared in the stairwell, obscuring Mipha's statue and leaving no room to go around.
Wildâs heart sank like a stone in deep water, but he steeled himself and walked through. Please, Hylia, let there be safety on the other side.
