i’m working on a long katie-centric one shot for christmas, which will have katiefeely (and it’s also the reason why it’s taking me forever to finish tkmlb), so you’ll have more soon!

but in the meantime, here are two really rough scraps i wrote in really early november at 2 a.m. but that i have no idea what to do with

Patrick knew why he couldn’t stop thinking about Katie ever since he met her.

It was like looking into a mirror, being with her. Only the reflection looking back showed just the purest parts of him. It didn’t point out his weaknesses, or highlighted everything he wanted to hide from. Looking into her green eyes, he only saw hope.

Maybe it was involuntary, he thought. Maybe she didn’t mean to give him ideas of becoming a better version of himself, and he was just so desperate for a silver lining that his mind overworked itself to twist her natural soft gazes into something meant specifically for him to get strength from. But he found that he didn’t care. If it was his delusions or if it was real, he didn’t care.

Enchanting green eyes in his mind, he fell asleep with the thought of seeing those eyes for the rest of his life, and lent from them a little bit of bravery to go through another day.

Patrick Feely was the bane of Katie’s existence.

She didn’t understand. She didn’t understand at all what her problem was.

Why did she care so much about him? It made no sense.

It was unfair. She had so much practice at guarding herself with these things. She had learned so early on that high walls were the best way to come out of anything unharmed. They worked so incredibly well with just about everything else. But here comes Patrick Feely, with his eyes like the sea and his gentle nature, and all of her walls come undone for him.

It wasn’t romantic. At all. It was nothing short of terrifying. And disturbing. And it made her wonder if she would like better to just dig herself into a hole instead of letting him see the worst parts of her.

Because, sure, it would all be fine at first. The sun would shine and the flowers bloom and the rivers flow. The world would turn alright. But what happened if he got so far into her that he found just exactly what made everyone turn around back to where they came from? What, then?

She wouldn’t be able to take it. She could take it when she was born, and she could take it throughout her childhood. She could take it in Winter and Summer, in Christmases and in Birthdays. She could take it all. She was made to take it.

- patrick spends all his classes doodling in his notebook and, meanwhile katie tries her hardest to pay attention, like religiously writing everything down, at some point she just writes one single radiohead lyric at the margin, and then another, and another and another and suddenly what the fuck is the professor talking about

- they have a game which consists of playing a single second of each other’s favorite artists’ songs to see if they guess correctly the song. i’m not sure who would be better at it, i feel like they’d play endlessly just because they keep ending in a tie lol

- they love night walks. i don’t know, i just get that vibe. or at least, katie does, but she never does it because, well, rosewood heh, so patrick drives her somewhere else, maybe by the beach, and they walk a little and talk a lot and it becomes some sort of habit

- THIS ONE IS SO FUNNY. katie’s grandfather made her help fixing whichever thing broke every other week and she learned many things along the way, so when katiefeely have their own place katie actually has the upper hand with plumbing, electricity and more. what she says GOES.

- on the contrary, patrick knows a lot about land and cultives, so if they have a garden, katie would claim it’s hers, but really patrick is the one keeping everything alive. he agrees the garden is hers, though

- when away from each other, they still sleep on their own side of the bed. patrick even places a pillow on katie’s side to imagine it’s her. kids these days man, they can’t handle anything!

- with so many older sisters, patrick has mastered the art of not laughing while being tickled (very hard, but possible, i would know). so whenever katie retaliates because he’s tickling her, she gets so confused and frustrated that he’s not laughing, like it’s so serious she starts pouting. patrick thinks it’s the funniest and cutest thing ever at the same time

- (he then would proceed to show her his weakest tickling spot. he regrets it.)

- once, patrick asked her what place she would like to go and she said the supermarket. patrick meant which country. when he clarified, she thought about it for a moment and then answered sweden because ‘they have abba, a cool flag and its capital has a syndrome named after it’. (yes i’m only saying this because i’ve been watching lots of swedish films)

- they so would have a music room in their house

- they hate eurovision

- patrick would get her hooked up on rick and morty

- when katie is in her period patrick knows every old trick in the book. turns out being his sisters’ slave when he was little taught him a lot (besides traumatizing him)

- patrick likes to stare at her when he thinks she’s asleep and the moonlight makes her glow. after a while katie tells him to fall asleep already and he just laughs

- patrick has this irrational jealousy over this boy that katie told him she liked for a day when she was a kid. (she met him at a record shop and doesn’t even remember his name patrick is just petty because she made it sound like the dreamiest meet-cute ever) (IT WAS NOT.)

would be funny if the boy turned out to be him but that’s just too much so no

- they watch films and katie guesses the plot twist right every. single. time. patrick is tired.

- they love before sunrise. only before sunrise.

and i think part of the reason for that it’s because everyone is so confused at the interaction and the words that were chosen. of course she does not say anything back, it would only bring much more attention to something she’s been trying to hide so much, something she probably feels ashamed of.
