Wait Till I Come Up With Something Cool

Like, if the villain was the soldiers only here for hunting him down like they claimed, he choose to bring danger to other villages in order to save his own, which was just…….. cowardly and selfish.

If the villain, in a bigger picture, was the colonization. Then apparently he…… didn’t do nothing to stop it.

All the important battles were fought by the locals, the whale and his other family members (I don’t remember the whale’s accurate name) In order to show Jack can still do something they had to let all the local villagers mysteriously disappeared from the scene for 30 minutes , so the hero was able to…… choke the villain while they were both holding breath under water.

That basic white dude didn’t bring anything to the story. Without him there’s no battles brought to the ocean villages. Or, without him, these islanders and forest ones can fight human just fine. His only advance, skill of firepower, was so average compared to those arrows, at least that’s how it looked like….. Many times I asked myself why he needed to be there but many times I asked why the whole story made sense anyway.

When Rhaenys paused, hesitated, and eventually decided to spare team green’s lives, I thought she was making a very thoughtful political decision. As the whole King’s Landing witnessed she emerged with the dragon killing (accidentally) hundreds of common people, if Rhaenys proceeds to murder the current King and his family in frond of everyone, her name and reputation would be severely damaged. Even though basically all of the characters were acting crazy in this ugly fight but they did care about their public images and legitimacy of their power. THIS was my understanding of Rhaenys’ consideration. 

BTS: oh she felt sorry for Alicent so as a mother to another mother Rhaenys went soft and gave up the only chance to stop all the wars at once. 

I mean, this explanation devalued Rhaenys’ character so much. She made such a crucial decision based on her being a mother instead of being a Lady or politician. And the decision suddenly made her looked......stupid. Can a female character acted independently from their traditional roles? Can their mind and heart overcame the "mother instinct"? Can real logic and planning, instead of emotional reaction, lead their action?

When Alicent acted all paranoid and crazy against Rhaenyra I thought she was annoying as f because Rhaenyra seemed to be very peaceful and kind to her bitterness.

Now, she’s not peaceful. She’s weak.

When Daemon decided there’s safety issues inside the town, he gathered gold cloaks to chopped dicks off. When he wanted to prove himself worthy he sailed to Stepstones and won himself a crown. When Lucerys legitimacy was challenged, he beheaded Vaemond right on site. 

Daemon saw a problem. Daemon got shits done.

As for Rhaenyra, she knew her unpopularity as an heir in the kingdom. She knew Alicent decided to make her an enemy. Criston low key bullied her kids during the training. The legitimacy of them were forever a problem. Her ally and lover Strong was murdered. 

She has done nothing to protect her position. She didn’t investigate Strong’s death. She didn’t take revenge. After years of meaningless waiting/delaying, her ultimate solution was ..... Her Dad. 

Of course one can argue gender has restrained Rhaenyra‘s ability. But look at Alicent, she managed to get Criston and Larys as her allies. She can constantly interrupt Rhaenyra at the council, devaluing her opinions. She successfully removed Strong family. She used rumors and whispers which eventually made Rhaenyra leave King's Landing. Alicent has done all these without a single Hightower by her side. 

 If a character’s whole fundamental reason behind her claim of power was simply “because my dad said so!” It’s really hard for me to develop sympathy for her. 

Between S1E5 and S1E6, she spent 10 years at King’s Landing by the side of Viserys but gained no political power or strong ally. She was talked down in the council by Alicent then got defeated by Larys’s scheme and casted away by people’s “whispering” easily. 

Between S1E7 and S1E8, she spent 6 years away from King’s Landing which let Viserys fell completely into Hightower’s hands. She didn't come back to her dying father(maybe didn't know) until Lucery’s legitimacy was challenged, yet her only solution was to ask others to speak up for her. Without Daemon, her name will be utterly damaged even though the succession can be settled. 

Besides offering her own sons' marriage as bargain she didn’t have plans for any upcoming crisis. She didn’t actually do anything for her kingdom or people.  The only reason for her to be the heir, at this point, was solely because Viserys named her so. Of course it’s legally enough. But it’s not enough to gain my confidence or respect to heartily support her. I wanted to support her so much.  

And now she agreed to leave King's Landing after knowing her father was dying in seconds. She chose to make a peaceful gesture by risking her heritage. She's truly her father's daughter. 

p.s. When Daemon asked to be the heir in early episodes I understood why Viserys denied him. Now I felt he’s the only Targaryen who knows how to get shit done in this house. 

You guys were all like yes he can fight back but he should have fought carefully with heart and sympathy and love for others. He should be very mindful about his self-defense behaviors and never crossed the line. He should be humble and grateful of what he got instead of showing off and mocking others. Oh how people hate it when a victim can flip the table. The moment Aemond stood up suddenly he received more moral judgement than any other characters in the show because if he can just stay where he was everything will be okay. 

Comments said he can claim his dragon but he should have showed sympathy towards his cousins, which literally means waited till others to claim the dragon because he was leaving the next day. It’s wild to me that people was mad because Aemond didn’t risk the chance of losing a dragon to be a good kid. Also when the four kids kicked him to bleed it’s completely fine but after he grabbed his attacker by the throat he’s supposed to let Luke go gently, no bad feelings. 

He’s just a child who constantly got bullied by peers through his life but how dare he be angry? How dare he hold grudge? How dare he throw tantrum and act crazy? How dare he ignore the limits like others he observed? How can he not control his feelings and lost temper? How can he feel entitled after finally feeling worthy? 

Tbh I didn’t feel anyone was playing the game of thrones as the audience expected. Rhaenyra didn't have a plan to defend her position except the marriage proposal at the end. Her ten years in Kings Landing achieved nothing then she left to..... avoid the storm? Why did you even stay in the first place? It took ten years for her to realize people were whispering? It’s almost amusing how Alicent can feel so threatened by an heir who did’t really know what she’s doing. Also the ridiculous argument between Rhaenyra and Laenor felt so forced. Like what exactly did Rhaenyra expect Laenor to do by forbidding him to leave even for a few months? Is there anything new he suddenly can do for her while in the past ten years they didn’t think about? 

Even the fall of Strongs didn’t require intelligent planning. Anyone can murder with enough balls and protection. It felt like the show can only manage to write a great family drama but when it came to high-end political play the writers had no idea how to separately it from a gangster movie. 

Daemon and Leana’s story was the one made the most sense but unfortunately it didn’t get the chance to shine at all. It was pushed too fast we only got to know those new characters a little bit. The scenes between the childbirth and the dragon felt at least should be 10 minutes long but it cut too soon, which left the audience wondered how in the earth can Leana got rid of everyone so fast and came to her dragon on her own? 

I was so looking forward to the episode that Daemon and Rhaenyra getting married but... in S1E6, the magic of their affection to each other seemed to fade away. Rhaenyra didn’t mention or miss Daemon a single bit on the screen. Of course one can argue she hidden it away but all I can see was that she’s totally occupied by her (losing) power game and the love for the family. Her marriage with Daemon won’t feel like a final reunion anymore but another political arrangement in the end.
