Renais. That might have been a passing name, but something in it felt familiar enough to him that Sigurd nodded as he watched Seth move about the open living space. It was the same sort of movement that he had done about the perimeter, before they had even entered, and it spoke to the young man's feelings on the matter, whether he was aware of it or not.
"Monsters, is it?" Sigurd smiled, eyes lighting up with interest as he crossed ankle over knee. "I have to admit, the only monsters that I have come across myself were the ones that, at the end of the day, were distinctly men – and I suspect that it will be such the case for our mysterious spirits, as well."
There was nothing on earth that could not be haunted by the actions of another, and any spirit was something that resided in the hearts of those left behind.
Sigurd knew that better than most.
His tone remained relaxed, with nary a hint of bitterness, as he continued; "Have you heard the story of the house? Something of a family, and a murder. These things are not as common where I am from, although perhaps some might have liked for it to be a more regular affair."
Perhaps its rarity was what had allowed it to complete successfully. If his countrymen had been more experienced with treachery, would that have prevented his death, Eldigan's, his father's?
It was difficult not to notice the spark that ignited in the other's eyes, and for a moment he is reminded of a Renais's young king who seemed to share the same love for battle that this man did no matter the opponent. "I've seen my fair share of those sorts as well. I'm sure you know just as well as I that war and conflict tend to bring about the worst in people."
Incorporeal spirits felt like another matter entirely. From what he could remember, the Demon King hadn't had any under his command. If they did happen to encounter such beings in the house, what were they supposed to? Drive them from their home? Calm them and let them exist in peace?
What was the possibility that they even witness the strange happenings the other townspeople mentioned?
In the moment, Seth feels as though for all his questions, he does not have the answers to them. His arms cross over his chest and he leans against the stone fire place while he recalls what he'd been previously told before they arrived. "That's correct. The victims and the murderer were of the same family. Lilly Bolden was her name, I believe. Perhaps we could start with trying to determine what motivated her to do so?"
His head turns to glance around the room again, and then back to Sigurd as he contemplates how to best to proceed with the task they were assigned. "In terms of efficiency and investigating, it may be wise to split up but given the rumors associated with this place, I'm not sure that would be in our best interest."
MAKING THIS HOUSE A HOME
Almost reflexively, Eirika's hands replace his upon his shoulders, palms and fingers kneading into the somewhat stiff muscles of his backside. It is not the first time, and it will certainly not be the last time, that she eases the aches and pains his body has accumulated over the years. Many of them in service to Renais, and more of them in service to her.
"You seem not quite as ready as you could be." Her voice is light but her concern is sincere. Hands press firm but gentle against his shoulders. Insistent in his care.
"You know, I'm plenty strong myself." She presses a bit harder against his back as if in demonstration. "There's nothing you and I cannot handle together. Though, if we find need of him, we can call my brother." Part of her wishes to do this with only the two of them but she understands his unspoken concerns as well.
"Hmm, first we need to figure out where to put our furniture. Once we're downstairs we can figure that out." She presses a kiss to his clothed shoulder. "Does that feel better?"
"I was comfortable. I'm not one to lay down and nap in the middle of the day but I can see that it may become more tempting to do so in the future." Especially now that they were here in Fodlan, in a small house of their own. There were no council meetings that they needed to attend, no army that needed training, and they could only do so much to tend to the restoration efforts back in Renais from here.
Her touch was soft and gentle, as it always was, and his eyes fall shut for only a moment as her fingers work at the tension knots in his back. "I know you are." As Eirika puts a little more pressure on his muscles, he can't help the small smile forming. "It will be a lot of work but I'm glad we get to do it together."
Seth did not doubt her. Not even once. There was no room for it in all the years that he's known her. Though a part of him did worry about his shoulder giving out in the middle of it all, and how that pain might affect his ability to teach but. He pushes the thought aside with a silent promise to himself that he'd tell her if the pain were to become too much for him.
"It does, thank you." He takes the opportunity to lean down to press a kiss to her forehead in return and then stands up to offer his hand to her. "Shall we?"
bright red like warning lights (or blood)
a heartfelt reunion after so much time spent apart.
He rumbles with laughter at the question—was the ghost going to continue its wanderings?—but as rude as he feels like being, Valter may very well cut the man some slack. After all, the whole world may remain new to the Silver Knight; it was not as if Fódlan was all too similar to Magvel in its happenings.
“ I don’t live in the Academy, Seth, ” he explains, a coyness at the edge of his tone, “ but I’ll try to swing by every now and again, if that’s what you’re asking. As a treat. For you. ”
(Now, how honest of a threat that was, Valter would decide later; for the moment, he would talk for the sake of talking, and he would promise the now-professor all the torment his heart desires.)
—and then some, given the Knight’s appetite for discomfort appears about as low as the Moonstone predicted. One step forward is mirrored by an opposite back, and this, too, sparks amusement in his heart. “ Can a man not hunger for both? All things in due time, yes? ”
Actually—‘in due time’, indeed; there wasn’t any need to rush things, was there? Valter wasn’t going anywhere; Seth wasn’t going anywhere; he needn’t be impatient. He could pace himself with these things. That smile remains even as Valter withdraws—not stepping back, but standing upright, not quite so up close and personal: “ My taste hasn’t changed. ” Blood remains the most appealing. With arms crossed and an expression… not mellow, but somewhat tempered, he continues, “ But that includes my patience, luckily for you. ”
“ I’m not looking for battle at the moment. ” Not yet. Grow stronger first. “ But if we ever end up enemies again, ” (and the grin returns) “ I would love to cross blades with you once more. ”
(To an opposite, yet still fatal end, preferably.)
Seth's eyes are still narrowed as he lets out a sigh. It's a loud, agitated sound, made so with the intent of further expressing how much he disliked the man in front of him, as well as the way he mirrored his movements and matched his step with another of his own. As much as the general had wanted it to, it didn't change the distance between them.
Seeing him around more was the opposite of what he wanted. He knows Valter knows that, at least.
There is a small amount of relief he finds at the fact that he and Eirika don't live at the academy either. He is unsure of the lengths Valter will go to find any truth in what little Seth had told him. At the moment, he is not interested in finding out, nor does he have much else to say. They were done here, and he wanted to make that clear.
"For your sake, I hope that time does not come." There is no forceful shove to move the man out of his way, and instead Seth walks around Valter back towards one of the racks of training weapons near the entrance of the hall. As the other said: he was not looking for a battle. In the moment, there was hardly a reason to provoke him. "I will make sure you meet your end permanently."
When Seth reaches the rack, he puts the lance back and exits without another word or look over his shoulder.

with every step together
ethereal ball 2026 -- seth & eirika
"Your memory serves you perfectly, as it always does." She's rarely known him to be wrong. If Renais had not been in the process of recovery there surely would have been more than one ball in the last few years. The nobility did love to gather at parties and dance the night away, but there simply had not been the time nor resources for such a thing. Not while their people suffered.
She doesn't need to think as they move across the floor. Her trust in her husband is implicit and she follows his lead without hesitation.
"There's suppose to be a dance contest of some sort later but..." A wistful smile crosses her face and she shakes her head. "I'm afraid if I dance too much more I won't be able to walk properly tomorrow." The two complete a twirl, her red dress arcing in a circle before she returns to his arms. Any fatigue that lingers is whisked away by the melody, at least for the moment.
"You flatter me. I'm far from perfect but who am I to argue with my lovely wife?" Even if his tone did become a little flirtatious, he wasn't expecting an answer back. He knew what she thought about him. All good things, and there was hardly any room for doubt in each other when they both trusted each other completely. As much as he grew tired of posturing during events like this one, he did quite enjoy the time they got to spend together.
Seth embraces her as she spins back into his arms, a small smile forming on his face now. "We can escape to take a moment to ourselves once this song is over if you'd like?" Normally, he wasn't one to suggest such a thing but there were far less expectations of them here in this hall than there was if they were back in Renais. If she was growing tired and her feet were hurting, the least he could do was offer to find someplace quiet for a moment to sit down.

Somehow, he keeps expecting someone, anyone, to chastise him for harboring these feelings about Lyon. He is his friend. He always will be. To Ephraim, it was not Lyon who started the war and killed his father, it was the Demon King wearing the guise of his best friend, controlling him like a puppet. But his feelings are at odds with how he feels he should morally act.
Seth's 'sword' swings at him, slicing clear through his thoughts, and Ephraim jumps back and raises his stick in defense.
"You would attack your king," he asks playfully. He's no king here, just Ephraim, a student, and perhaps that has been weighing on him too. He should not be here, he should be in Renais.
He will always remember the words Seth spoke to him that day they freed castle Renais from Orson. They cheer for the future. For a better tomorrow. That is what he's trying to give his people by being here and he must remember that.
Ephraim darts forward with his 'sword' and slashes at the air near Seth. "Come at me properly then, if you dare."
It's not often that they get to loosen up like this. In fact, they barely had time for it at all, especially when they got caught up in their work. In Renais, it had been easy. Restoration efforts seemed never-ending. While this competition may not have been what they were expecting but that didn't mean they still couldn't have fun.
"I would. I needed to remind you why we're here." Not that he didn't enjoy talking with Ephraim. He valued his trust very much, but he didn't want him to think too hard about his friendship with Lyon. After everything that happened, they were still friends and that's what mattered.
Seth runs forward to meet him in the middle, and swings his stick in front of him in an attempt to aim for the other's hip. "I hope whatever training you've been doing here has been paying off. There's only one way to test it."
couple's retreat gone wrong

It as if their hands were made to hold each others. Her fingers intertwine with his as they settle into a gait that matches the other. Neither too fast or too slow than the other, just right. Just them.
"If I tire of the harsh ground I will simply lay upon my pillow." She squeezes his hand teasingly.
His arm must not be bothering him too much if he's not mentioning it so she doesn't ask further about it. "I feel similar." Eirika nods. "It is refreshing being here and learning so much about a new country. Fódlan feels not at all like Renais." Though she has largely led a sheltered life. Perhaps Seth feels differently. "Most of all, I am looking forward to what we can learn while we're here." Her words are followed by another squeeze of his hand, but this time affectionate rather than teasing.
Eventually, the two make their way home and pack for the small outing. It's still early in the day so they should be able to find the hot spring without too much effort. After a few directions from friendly, if wary, villagers, they finally find their way through the thick trees.
"Ah, so it is." Eirika had been keeping up alongside Seth without fuss throughout the journey, but now she picks up her pace to make the last climb all that much shorter.
As she crests the hill, she's greeted by a turquoise pool of water cradled by rocks. Steam rises in misty wisps and now that she's closer, she can feel it too. There's enough space next to the hot spring that they could even make camp here.
Eirika turns back around. "Oh, Seth, it's wonderful." She offers him her hand as he draws near. "Look, isn't it beautiful?"
The way the villagers reacted made him suspicious, if only a little bit, but there was little he could determine from their facial expressions. Their town was close to the hot spring and it was likely that the rumors of fairies had started there but no one had given them any warnings or testaments of their existence. Instead of focusing on that as they walked, Seth stepped to the side on the path to allow his wife to pass him and continued following her up the hill.
His pace quickens as he trails behind her, taking in the sight of the lush forest. It's quiet save for the gentle flow of water, birds, and occasional rustling of the tree branches in the wind. "The location is perfect. It's a shame we don't have any hot springs in Renais. It would have made for a good escape after training or between trips to help with restoration efforts." There's a small smile that forms when she offers her hand to him, and he takes it.
His fingers tangle with hers and he starts leading towards the small clearing off to the right. "Let's make camp first, and then we can relax."
Kiss the Cook
Deirdre hangs onto every word as Eirika shares the story of herself and Seth. She is awestruck. Even if Eirika claims it is not exciting or romantic, Deirdre believes that it is. She listens intently and her smile grows and grows as she hears more and more.
It is lovely, she thinks, and Eirika is so lucky that both her brother and her father must approve of her beloved. She has no living family to ever meet Sigurd and, while she is so grateful for the love and friendship of his sister, she deeply regrets never getting to meet his father herself. She often wonders if the late Duke of Chalphy would have approved of her.
"I know exactly what you mean. When he found me, Lord Sigurd promised he would never leave my side. That he would stay with me and protect me from anyone that might seek to harm me. As long as he is near, I know I have nothing to be afraid of. But he is a knight and so he must leave me and follow his duty far more often than I'd like." She tries to lift her chin to see if she can spot her husband in the kitchen and frowns when she realizes she cannot. "Even now, I know he is just over there but that is still too far." She sighs and shakes her head with a laugh. "You must think I sound terribly foolish!"
Deirdre takes a sip of her tea and cannot help but wonder what her Sigurd is up to. Is he enjoying his conversation too? It is nice to have friends like this together again. She remembers sitting like this chatting with Ethlyn while Sigurd and Quan were off doing something together nearby. It has been far too long, hasn't it?
"I met Lord Sigurd when I was being harassed by terrible men. He came to my rescue and stopped them but I ran from him. Then he found me later in the forest where I lived and promised to protect me and love me. I was so enamoured I left behind everything I'd ever known to leave with him. We knew the instant we set eyes on each other that we were meant to be together. He was just like a knight out of a fairy tale." A dreamy sigh escapes her lips. "He still is."
Eirika can't help but laugh a little, but not at her new friend. She shakes her head. "No, it is not foolish at all, Lady Deirdre. I relate all too well, in fact."
Deirdre's story is much more somber than her own and reminds her of the night she truly realized her feelings for Seth, the first time they beat within her chest to the point that she could not ignore them.
"I am grateful that he was there to protect you. I believe it sounds silly to some, and sometimes it sounds so even to my own ears I admit, but once you realize your feelings in a moment like that, there is no turning back."
She closes her eyes as she recounts a tale. "The night Renais' castle fell, Seth saved me. He held me in his arms and rode as fast as he could. That night...I try not to think of it, as it is the day I lost my father, but even then Seth made me feel safe. That was the night I knew there was something more between us but I also knew we could not act on our feelings." Cerulean eyes open, as clear and vibrant as the sky. "Truly, I never expected that we would be able to marry." Her fingers curl around her wedding band protectively as she smiles in fond memory of the day he placed it on her hand.
"If I could have married him sooner, I know I would have no regrets about it."
She had not missed the way Deirdre lifted her chin to try and spy her husband nor the frown that graces her lips when she cannot find him. Smiling, Eirika sets aside her teacup. "What do you say to us checking in on them? Perhaps we can provide a bit of a morale boost to their cooking efforts."
Seth couldn't help but chuckle. It was quiet, accompanied by a small smile as he continued dicing the vegetables in front of him. The grin Sigurd gives him tells him everything he needs to know. Up until coming to Fodlan, Seth couldn't speak very highly of his cooking skills either, but just like anything else, it took practice. His duties back at Castle Renais had never given him very much free time to make meals, and what little he learned during the war might have left something to be desired but resources had been limited while they'd been on the move. "Did you always want to be a knight?"
Perhaps this was not the place to be talking about their duties or work, but it hardly felt like small talk. While Seth was not one of the Knights of Seiros, he was still a knight of Renais. He was still a general, and he was quite happy to have the opportunity to pass along his skills to the students here as a professor.
People from all walks of life were at Garreg Mach, and so far he's been happy with his experiences. Eirika seems happy in her classes, as does Ephraim, though Seth knows he much prefers physical activity than sitting with a book in his lap. He's glad that he accompanied them both here.
"There's still plenty I need to learn about cooking but if you need any assistance, I'm happy to offer what knowledge I have." Granted, to Seth it didn't seem like much but they had both been asked to cook for their wives and the least he could do was help the other man make something that was edible.
"I understand. This is the furthest I've travelled away from home." That smile grows a little bigger, and Seth gives a nod of his head in agreement. "Living here has been quite the change from what Eirika was used to back in Renais. For me, as well, but we've been able to face it together and that's made our transition here easier. I'm glad that you have Deirdre to make you happy."
surprise, bitch. I bet you thought you'd seen the last of me
Speak of a demon and he shall appear. Seth positions himself in front of her and holds out his arm, preventing her from taking a step forward. Either he is cautious or he understands her all too well because Eirika makes only the motion of stepping forward before she finds herself blocked by her husband. It is both, he has right to be concerned, but Eirika will not wilt simply because a darkness has appeared.
Instead, she stays to Seth's side, behind him but visible to the Moonstone. She will not give Seth anything more to worry about than he has to.
"You would say and do anything that suits your needs. How else would you be gainfully employed as a knight of Seiros? Or would the Lady Rhea not bat an eye if we were to approach her with proof of your actions during the war?"
Their first meeting was the night castle Renais fell. Yet she has very little memory of the man himself from that night, her emotions too fraught with grief to let her retain much recollection of it. All she truly recalls is that he was the one to give Seth the wound that he still bears to this day.
Azure eyes narrow critically at him. "What is your purpose in being here at the academy?" She does not expect a true answer, not really, but since he is here she shall ask.
@knighteclipsed, what do you have to say for yourself?
A laugh, rumbling amusement at the both of them—big talk from small fish, but Valter was a fan of playing games. “ Do you want me to leave you alone or stay and answer your questions? Surely, you can make up your minds, can’t you? ”
“ Actually, I’ll assume the latter: after all, we have much to catch up on, don’t we? ” (A harsh glimmer in his eye as he speaks; a snap of his fingers, glee scarcely hidden.) “ So then, ”—stepping aside, rotating about the couple, an angle to stand ever-so-slightly closer to—“ Eirika. ”
(And the name is drawn out, each syllable mangled, torn up; jagged and sharp and broken into pieces–)
“ You want to know what I’m really doing at the Academy, yes? ” (Circling, snapping teeth and eyes transfixed–) “ I’m afraid I can’t give you an answer any more honest than I already have. I am—and always have been—a knight, sure and true. You might even ask Lady Rhea— ” (A wildness untamed in his eyes–) “ —I do my work well. ”
(Loyal to the crown, honorable in his service; he would bleed in the name of Grado just as he would make his enemies bleed.)
“ But that’s not something you could ever believe, is it, general? ” (Here, his eyes flicker upwards towards the princess’s attachment—ever affixed to her side, even now; even after peace had come.) “ By your measurement, I assume I’ll never be anything but the man who saw Renais fall into ruin. ”
(And my, what fun that had been! Given the chance, he would witness it all over again; the guillotine to a nation’s head and the final nail in his reinstatement in twain.)
“ Then again, I suppose that’s the difference between you and I—I don’t turn tail and run from battle. ” That’s weakness, General. To fear is to become lame. “ I face a threat head-on, and I prove my superiority. ”
—with blood; with bones; crackles and permanent deformation; the carnage that will never be recovered from, buried underground but never rooted out from the mind. One hand brushes across his shoulder, all the nonchalance in the world dedicated to the act; and as the hand falls, Valter smiles again, teeth jagged as they bleed through.
“ You wouldn’t understand that, would you? ”
perhaps, perhaps not; @silvereques !!
Seth wanted him to leave. He didn't want to have this conversation. He hadn't wanted to see that wretched man ever again, and yet, here they were. This was the second time. Valter begins circling them both and Seth reaches an arm backwards to keep Eirika in place as he turns to keep his gaze on Moonstone. There were plenty of things he could say to interrupt him or to make his hatred further known however he keeps calm, and tries to keep his expression neutral aside from the narrowing of his eyes.
The explanation Valter gives them has to suffice for now. If there were something more, he supposes the other may have a reason to hide it. And if magic had been involved, it likely would have been more powerful than Orson was promised for Monica. In the grand scheme of things, logistics hardly seemed to matter. His priority was and always would be keeping Eirika safe.
"Because you are. You're twisted and cruel, and whatever code you follow is the same." There were plenty of other words he wanted to use to describe Valter, all of them were within the same realm, but Seth is trying not to let his control slip. "We've seen it first hand and I don't have any cause to believe you'd act otherwise." His voice is sharp though one of his hands reaches back towards Eirika's to intertwine their fingers. If he could pull her any closer, he would have.
He doesn't let his gaze falter as the other mentions their retreat after their first encounter. Escaping to Frelia had been more important than proving the superiority that Valter spoke of. They both made it out alive. Eirika had her bracelet, and Seth... Well.. The pain from the wound he received that night still lingered now, and his stomach twists as the Grado general so calmly reaches out to touch it. He wants to grab his hand and shove him backwards but just as quickly as Valter's arm was raised, it was back at his side. Seth's shoulders go tense, it's visible in the way his posture grows rigid though he does not move.
"I understand I wouldn't have been able to do my duty if I had fallen to you." He would have run himself ragged or bled to death if he continued fighting that day. "We had far more important things to worry about at the time than me trying to prove myself."

[ SHAVED ICE ] - Served with a wide assortment of sweet, fruity syrups. Traditionally, it is served in bowls, but some are saying it makes for quite a refreshing sip when drank from a glass.
ETHEREAL BALL 2026
"I can't say I've ever had this before. It seems like it would be quite nice on a hot day as well." If a desert or drink like this existed back in Magvel, he wasn't aware of it. The general has had plenty of new experiences since coming to Fodlan though, and will hope that the trend continues for the length of his stay. He doesn't recognize the young woman next to him though. A part of him is unsure if she had just arrived or if he had been that focused on teaching his classes and going about what was his new normal routine that caused his attention to drift elsewhere. Perhaps they would not remain strangers after this.
"Pardon my manners. I am Seth of Renais. It's lovely to make your acquaintance." He gives a polite bow and kindly offers one of his lilies to her. "I hope you've been enjoying your evening so far."
[ RENAIS ] - A choreographed dance from rural Renais. Two rows of partners stand opposite of each other, dancing as they move closer and away from each other like waves upon a shore.
ETHEREAL BALL 2026
"Forde, always good to see you." He wasn't expecting to have the other as a dance partner this evening though he has to admit that it is a nice change from the training and fighting they'd used to alongside each other before and during the war. "I hope you're having a good evening so far."
While he cannot recall the last time he'd done this dance, it seems it's a matter of muscle memory as he and Forde circle around one another, part, and then close the space between them again. If he'd had a moment to observe some of the other dances, he's sure he would have gotten a hang of those as well but he's glad Forde approached him for this one.
As the song concludes and they return to their starting positions, Seth gives a bow. It's small, not as deep as what he would give royalty but it's polite enough. He meets the other's gaze with smile once he's straightened his back again, and holds one of his lilies out in offering. "That was nice. We'll have to take some time to go riding soon."
with every step together
ethereal ball 2026 -- seth & eirika
Eirika turns toward her husband as he brushes a lock of azure behind her ear. She leans into the lingering warmth of his palm before taking his hand in hers. It’s not very often that the two get a chance to dance. There was always one thing or another drawing their attention, leaving little time for leisure, but here and now they have this chance.
”Always.” She inclines her head and smiles then lets him take the lead, whisking them across the dance floor. The vibrant red of her dress trails after them in slow motion.
Her other hand finds the curve of his shoulder as she settles into the movement. “I’m glad that we took the time to practice. It’s been too long since we’ve attended an event like this.” Yet it’s not quite like any event they’ve attended either. Here they are simply Seth and Eirika, husband and wife, not knight and queen.
And as they dance, Seth twirls her away from her worries that have weighed on her the past few months. Right now, she only wishes to think of him.
He could feel his heart skip a beat or two as she took a moment to lean into his palm. It was a small and simple gesture, but still enough to cause a smile to form as he stares back at her with the same fondness he's felt for her since the moment they met.
"I enjoyed it. It was a nice change from our daily routine." Not that there was anything wrong with their routine. The fact of the matter was that he was content to do anything with her. Literally anything. They could sit next to each other in silence for all he cared and it would hardly matter so long as they were together.
"If I recall, the most recent event might have been our wedding? Your memory may be better than mine." He's sure there may have been more events in between that day two years ago and this current moment. They just don't stand out in his mind as much as their wedding had. At least not right now. Not while they're dancing and he's leading her around the ballroom with precise steps.
[ SWEET BUN TRIO ] - Three delicious, bite-sized buns from Faerghus. The first bun is filled with sweet cream and topped with icing and a candied cherry. The second is a sweet roll filled with almonds, pecans, and dried cranberries and glazed with honey. The third is a bun sliced in half, filled with almond paste and whipped cream, dusted with powdered sugar on top.
Well, it is rather awkward to stand near Eirika's husband without uttering a word. There are also other reasons why Lyon feels this way. It is hardly Seth's fault; Lyon still needs time to work through his emotions, but that is neither here nor there.
The prince of Grado clears his throat before turning towards the other man. "Would you like one, General?" He offers buns on a napkin. "They are rather good."
ETHEREAL BALL 2026 -- first half
Seth turns his head as Lyon clears his throat and announces his presence next to him. This was his first encounter with the other since he'd arrived and while he still held a small amount of skepticism lingering from the war and the choices that had been made, Seth believed Ephraim when he'd told him that Lyon was no longer under Fomortiis's control. So, in an attempt to keep things friendly, the general accepted the bun topped with icing and the cherry.
"Thank you, Prince Lyon." He nods, taking a bite and raising a hand to wipe some of the icing off the corner of his mouth. It was good, and it wasn't entirely often that Seth let himself indulge in sweets though for the occasion, he would allow himself to relax. Even if it was just a little bit. "My apologies that we are only greeting each other now. I've been busy with my classes, and I trust it has been the same for you, but I've heard from the twins that you've been well. I'm glad." Genuinely, he means that.
"Before I forget, it's traditional to exchange flowers at these sorts of events here, is it not?" Seth reaches for his bouquet to hold out one of his yellow lilies to Lyon. "I would like you to have this. As a symbol of good faith."

ethereal ball 2026 -- seth & eirika
There's a soft smile forming on Seth's face as he takes in the sight of his beloved and comes to the conclusion that there is not anything she can do to make herself more perfect than she already looks. Perhaps he's biased (he definitely is) but his heart flutters and that light, warm feeling in his chest has only grown since the day of their marriage two years ago. Red was a good color on her, it always was.
Actually there was one little thing he could think of to improve her look... Just a little bit... With a delicate touch, Seth tucks some loose strands of azure hair behind her ear to replace them with one of the lilies from his bouquet. He then offers her his hand and as the music starts, he gives her a bow. It's polite, short, and he knows he hardly needs address her with such formalities at this particular event but he does anyways. If only to show her he was always trying to be respectful. "May I have this dance?"

The general is no stranger to formal events like this one, having attended many back home as representation of Renais's military as well as an advisor to the royal family. While Seth recognizes there is still a need to be on his best behavior, he is still grateful he gets to enjoy the evening without the pressure of trying to please a court. With his wife's arm intertwined with his own, he accepts the bouquet of yellow lilies and heads inside.
Seth is attending the ball with his lovely wife, Eirika, and will often be found near her and Ephraim (and in turn, Lyon as well).
