The stories heard and written about, are either by the victors or those of a neutral party. It is rare to hear the story from the losing side. Or rather, their voices are lost in the loudness of victory.

The “truth” isn’t questioned.

After all, who would dare to question the truth of the past when it is so plainly written down in historical texts.

The Cryptid Father and His Almost Equally Cryptid Son

The man was over a century old. There had to be more to it. In hindsight, it hadn’t been one of Izuku’s better ideas.

Black tendrils whipped through restraints. A glimpse of flesh and Midoriya was encircled by tendrils, pulled flush against the prisoner, head supported before it could slam into the ground. Another set of tendrils had attached themselves to arms and circle, tying themselves around wrists and fingers. 

All For One abruptly shifting and Izuku was pulled flush, both arms pinned to his side. Lulling and gentle, Izuku had an immediate sense of wrongness, then jumped as a weight pressed itself against the top of his head. Izuku hadn’t been frightened beforehand, but this wasn’t a territory that he knew.

Ah, but I believe by now you likely know what I think of demons and angels.

One and the other are everywhere you look, one and the other blend together.

Humans are wretched creatures. As you said, they will paint the horns of demons on angels should they run out of those to take the blame, all the while ignoring the cracked crimson surrounding their own reflection.

Such strange things humans are, taking the horns and leathery wings and tails and meticulously stitching their alabaster feathers back into place. As if they could reclaim their souls that were alabaster as well once upon a time.

And of course, I would certainly say my own demons were far more kind than my “guardian angel.”

You know it as well, do you not?

What words do you associate with “beast” most of the time?

Wild. Savage. Terrifying.

And most of the time, “beast” is what you call…?

Wild things, loud things, the ones who have done wrong.

It is here that one may believe that the line between “monster” and “beast” begins to blur.

Ah, but what is right and what is wrong?

You see, what you may call “right” and what you may call “wrong” are twisted, so twisted indeed.

Freedom, joy and laughter, an imperfect face, the things you could never understand.

For you see, anything you have given the name of “beast” was nothing more than a creature you realized you could never hope to control.

And for the case of a “monster,” well…

When the world returns, everything falling into one, remember to watch closely.

Worlds work in loops. Cycles.

Recall what falls first, what can be done.

A single hero saves the world again and again.

Within the in-between of life and death,

of freedom and imprisonment,

of the sky and the earth,

there is a gamble to be taken up.

Heads or tails, place your bets.

Place your hopes on one,

Paths divide and you can only ever choose one.

To one side, the strength to move forward.

To the other, the strength of someone who waits for you.

The clock shows a little after midnight, pitch black outside the window dotted with flickering stars.

Light steps along the floor, chunkily cut hair brushing over closed eyelids.

The song in the air drifts and soothes, do you even recall the words?
